Thanks Gervilla - I really enjoyed watching that.  Some very exciting young Villa talent on show, there.

There's a few more that didn't feature in that match that might have done too.
Very exciting times ahead, all being well.

Brilliant Goals.

Horrible camerawork though, very difficult to watch

Not seen much of Samir Curruthers before but he looked good there.
Daniel Johnson looks a real prospect.
As usual it comes with the caveat that most of them won't be Premier League footballers in a few years but this competition won't do them any harm at all.

"Who needs Samir Nasri when we've got Samir Carruthers...................."

I haven't seen them play as much as I have in previous years (yet) but based on what I've seen (and heard) of them, the latest group of 16 - 18 year olds are the best I've ever seen at Villa by some distance.
Of course nobody should be carried away yet but certainly we are in fantastic shape at academy/reserve level.

And this NextGen series is a great idea and will only help to develop these players further.

Looking decent, some talent coming through there.

Much needed too, it's the future ( like garlic bread)...

Anyone know how many teams go through from each group?

The Ajax game is on the NextGen channel as well. Although we lost that one it does have the advantage of having no Jack Woodward commentary on it.

May as well put it here but Villas young guns beat Wolves reserves last night with two more goals from the very impressive Callum Robinson.

Seriously, there are 16 and 17 year olds making mugs of senior players in these games.

My reaction exactly- I had a flashback when I saw the score in the thread title. Are they going to re-match in Istanbul so we can polish them off with a 0-2 win?
