a 1-0 defeat but still compelling footage that i find absolutely fascinating, this the season we won the European Cup and were defending League Champions. Anyone got any memories of this one?

I remember going with my Dad to this one at the age of ten years old!
We sat in the North Stand with the Citeh fans and had the misfortune to be sat about three rows behind some mad old bird who seemed to be ringing a bell throughout the game (you can even hear it on the commentary!)
I don't remember much about the game itself other than my Dad telling me the goal shouldn't have stood as there was a Villa player down in the centre circle.
Journey home on two buses pretty grim but did have a few autographs to look at having been lucky enough to grab a few signatures before the game!

Withe should have buried that at the end.
Martin Tyler commentating I think, what channel was it on?
Thanks for the link. It would be interesting to see more decent footage from that season.

Great post, shame about the result... I guess Saunders didn't last too long after this!

I always remember hearing that Bell at man city during the 80s and early 90s. Maybe the bird dont go anymore.

She was about seventy then. She died a few years ago.

By the date I know I'd have been at the game, but can't remember it at all (worrying I know). However, I do clearly remember being at the midweek Wigan cup game mentioned by Martin Tyler at the start of the commentary. We had a really good turn out at their old Springfield Park ground that night - our only ever game there I think.

What about the two-legged League Cup game when we were defending the Coca Cola in autumn '94 (when Lamptey's star briefly shone)?

Yes you're right - I'd forgotten that one. Probably because I didn't go. I do remember Lamptey starring in the home leg though.

I was at this game, even then we couldn't beat them at their place.
I remember some City fans sat behind us who were very complementary about Villa all the way through the game, kept saying what a good side we looked.
