So Gardner on the bench, I Bannan is wasted out wide, but this team is full of creativity.

Come on lads!

Interesting to see Ireland get a start.

The pub I would normally watch this in shut down this week so I've got to go to the spit and sawdust one. Hope the game makes up for it

True, but with Ireland inside of him in a 4-2-3-1 he'll have loads many options and chances to roam about than in the 4-4-2. I'm quite happy with this team, I just hope it pays off.

Can't decide whether to nip over the Strathallan and watch it as i'm fed up of trying to find some dodgy stream to watch. Or just stick to listening on the wireless.

The team is as good a selection as he could make from those available. Now he needs to get the tactics right. Good to see both Weimann and Gardner on the bench. Future regulars IMO.

A win would do wonders for us, I fear for this one though.  I can's shift the feeling of dread that we are one of the 3 worst teams in this division.  I know we are not but pessimism seems to be ruling me these days.

I know, but another slow start.  Why are we always off the pace in midfield from the kick off?  We away away and should be closing down and chasing like maniacs to stop QPR settling in.

Essentially because neither Delph or Petrov are holding players that will destroy effectively. We need a couple of big hard men in there in front of the back 4 that can play. As ever, the centre of midfield just kills us.

Let's have some positivity. If we win, we'll go 5th! We are that good.
If you look at the names on the teamsheet, particularly the subs bench, we are pretty much on a par with QPR. We don't have a divine right to win, but hopefully, AM will steer us to another point, at least.

For a game that's on the telly. Coincidence?

Yeah.  The bastard shouldn't even try and take his son to game of football on a Sunday, 10 mins from his house should he?

Agreed. I kind of expected more ball playing from this line up. I was delusional it seems.

It can't be this bad all the way. Keep it on the deck. Keep it simple. No hoofing.

MON's team was a high water mark of the last 15 years. This is bilge. If Houllier was the skipper of the Titanic, McLeish seems like a tugboat captain having a little jaunt around the harbour, looking at all the expensive yachts, but never taking us anywhere very exciting.

Then again, despite an awful first 40, we then go and create the best chance.

The last five minutes were an improvement. Although that's not saying much.

We've got creative players in the middle today, but they might as well be at home watching Antiques Roadshow if we're not going to give the ball to them.

The tactic seems to be to hoof the ball away any time it comes into our box, and maybe Gabby will pick up some scraps. There's not much point laying into Bannan, Ireland or Delph (who I genuinely think hasn't touched the ball yet), as they can't do a lot while the ball's sailing over their heads.

Can anyone think of a worse central midfield pairing in the prem than ours?

I honestly can't! The Wolves game yesterday was one of the best i've seen the season, proper football unlike our dross.

We need to stop blaming individuals here, we have a midfield who should be very good when we have the ball, they can all pass and are all comfortable on the ball.

That none of them are doing this can only suggest that the game plan is keep our shape tight and make sure that if we lose the ball we've got the bank of 4 and 5 in place and are hard to pass through.

The lack of football on display is, in my opinion, 100% down to managerial and coaching decisions.  We saw 3 1/2 seasons of the shit down the road trying to not concede and hope they took the 1-2 chances they got in a game, that tactic has been copied verbatim to Villa and we now experiencing the joys of playing in such a restrictive system.

Bannan, Nzog, Ireland and Delph in particular will never shine whilst we're playing this shit.  To try playing a style that doesn't suit 4 of the 5 players you've started shows a complete lack of understanding of tactics that is pretty breath-taking considering this is a guy who has managed internationally.

When did Barcelona move to West London and start wearing blue and white hoops?

For fuck's sake we're playing QPbastardR not Barcelona and we have absolutely no desire to go and try to win the game and we've settled for a point before a ball has been kicked. Given will be done for time wasting at some point.

We're woeful, truly fucking dire. If Y'Zogbia is worth close on £10m then I'm worth £5m. We're shit, truly shit. No passing, no movement. We get a throw in and just chuck it down the line and lose possession.

I cant stand Collins' ineptitude to play a ball to feet. STOP LAUNCHING THE BALL 70 YARDS EVERY TIME YOU TOUCH IT, you dumb clown. Our midfield is a complete joke. I want Ireland to come good but christ mate you've got to move and create. He sits on his heels and reacts to every play, get involved and be proactive. Delph, ew terrible half. Atleast Bannan looks to be putting in a shift but his effort is getting us no where with no one around him.

The squad is not strong enough, but currently we look like far less than the sum of the parts.

Man for man, our team is much better than QPR, on paper, but we seem to have gone down there looking to come away with a draw, and are showing zero attacking intent whatsoever.

I'll give AM time, as there's the possibility he's working on getting us playing another way, slim though it is, but the minute I start to believe that this is the way he actualy *wants* us to play is the minute I'm going to want him out.

I'd shudder to think that an Aston Villa side could actually be sent out and told to play like this.

Hutton isn't great at all. The QPR fans chanting 'boring boring Villa' was quite hurtful too.

If I heard it correctly the Villa fans actually joined in.

Did they? Ouch!

I agree Warnock almost came to Collins rescue for the goal.  If it hadn't of clipped Dunne it would have been an oustanding goal saving tackle.  It was just desperately unlucky.

Fair play for the second half performance.

Unlucky goal, but really, a point more than we deserve on the balance of play, even taking into account the much improved second half spell
Title: Re: Queens Park Rangers v Aston Villa Match Thread
Post by: nicardinho on September 25, 2011, 05:58:07 PM
Why? Why, why why do we always fuck about at the end. It was fairly clear that we were at risk, yet we mess about in the corner and end up throwing 2 points away.

We must beat Wigan next week, for my sanity if nothing else.
