Title: Entrance music
Post by: Legion on September 20, 2011, 11:41:48 PM
What on earth is that racket? Then why does it segue into something that sounds like we're getting married?

Come on Legion...that's the bells which are ringing for claret and blue

They have got to cut that out it is getting seriously embarrassing.  Those bells ringing sound like a bloody wedding they'll be handing out bloody confetti before long.  Christ knows what the away fans think of it they must be pissing themselves laughing.

The tannoy is shocking, I was sat in the upper north and the sound was terrible the music being played was deafening. The bells are just awful I said to my mate is someone gettin married

It was voted for by the fans, but delivered very poorly.

Non motivational, non rousing, a bit pathetic really.

Bit like the Holte End this season.

Post by: MarkM on September 21, 2011, 08:49:02 AM
Anyway by the time the teams come out im F*cking deaf anyway as the tannoy is so loud that I have to shout if I want to talk to my son in the seat next to mine.

I think I would almost rather not have the DJ music blasting out!

[Maybe I'm just getting old!]

Whoever thought playing something just before kick off that it's impossible to sing over or make an atmosphere to is really in the wrong job.

I hate those bells. Its sounds like someone has just got married. So your depressed before they even kick off.

We've gone from a tannoy that garbles all the words to one that deafens you.  And those bells, just horrible.

This version of a well known song is what should be played as entrance music.
Turn the volume up to eleven and give it a try.

Better than the turgid Johnny Cash version they've been playing before kick-off!

But those wedding bells.....I think last season's funereal bells are more appropriate this season  >:(

Maybe they should try:

Surrender - Elvis Presley
Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now - Smiths
Is There Anybody Out There? - Pink Floyd
We Don't Care - Akon

And as for a Johnny Cash song, what could be better and more appropriate than 'Hurt'?

Those bells are totally embarrassing, both the wedding peel & the 'song' that the club commissioned.  They tried something, it didn't work, move on.

For the past few seasons it's sounded more like a church then a football ground & I'm sick of it.  Either play something rousing/popular, or switch it off completely

If the club doesn't want to admit defeat on the whole "bells are ringing" thing, they should use Hell's Bells.

The bells are ridiculous as is that song they commissioned. The original song would be better or even just the tune, played at a loud enough volume to get people to join in.

I heard the entrance song for the first time yesterday an thought what kind of sh1te is this??  had to ask my brother and cousin if we were attending a wedding a villa park, not to see a carling cup game.
They need to put something like "The eye of the tiger" to get the players pumped up.  I bet half of them get depressed hearing the bells thinking that they will be hearing them at their own weddings

I miss the choir-style, orchestral entrance music we had a couple of years ago.  Sends shivers down your spine, especially in an evening game.

Someone on here knows what it's called but I can't remember.

That's the one.  It really does make you think something epic is about to happen, even if it almost certainly won't!!

"Cry Cry Cry"?

"What Do I Care?"

I suppose as long as it's not "Home Of the Blues". That probably wouldn't appropriate for Villa to run out to.

Which is why I suggested on page 1 that we should have 'Ghost Riders In The Sky' by Ramrods. Turn the volume up and give it a listen. If those opening bass lines at full blast don't get people on their feet I don't know what will. Add to that It's an instrumental version, it gives 30 - 40,000 people the chance to sing the 'proper' words.

Relieved that the horrendous bells had been ditched before kick-off yesterday. Thought we'd been spared them until we were leaving, when they were cranked up as the players left the pitch.  I half-expected them to exit two by two, holding hands, in a shower of confetti.
