What a nerve racking day (http://www.itnsource.com/shotlist//ITN/2000/04/02/BSP020400024/?s=aston+villa&st=0&pn=1)

I remember that day fondly (certainly more than the final!).
Always remember that miss!
-
Great miss for DH, such a shame we didn't make more of the final.
-
2 great days out although the two games of football were fucking terrible!
-
A couple of great sessions in the pub before and after the game interupted by 120 minutes of pure hell in between. I kept thinking we would pick up as the game went on and then Delaney got sent off. I was right in line with Holdsworth behind the opposite goal and just hung my head and waited for the Bolton cheers but instead it was the people around me cheering. Great feeling at the end of the shoot out but that game probably aged me as much as any other I've been to. It was Golden Goal rules wasn't it? Just like England in Euro '96 against Spain and Germany. That thirty minute period used to make me a nervous wreck.

Yes I remember that day very well as I was at Wembley. The final was one of the worst Villa games I ever saw and thank God I couldn't get a ticket.
Gregory tried to steal the FA Cup rather than win it outright.
What makes it worse was that Chelsea we're there to be taken as they didn't play very well.

What a shocking kit as well - we look like Scunthorpe.
-
I went to both the semi and the final, both dreadful games of football. If the team had been half as up for it as the fans we'd have slaughtered Chelsea in the final, I just felt so deflated afterwards.

Exactly
I remember being outside the Torch before the game in brilliant sunshine, great atmosphere and we were all so up for the game.
To say the match was a let down was an understatement, I dont think we had a shot

We were pretty crap as I recall. They were the better team (and a division below us) and had some midfielder called Eidur Gudjohnsen who was brilliant....
I put my head in my hands when the ball went to Holdsworth and didn't see him miss, I just heard the cheers and could hardly believe that he'd missed.
Other memories from the day are that we saw Sid before the game and my brother got on his knees and hailed him (Sid looked very embarassed) and that the boy band Five had a coach going past us. I know that one of them is a Villa fan, but I doubt they were there for the game?

I remember being head in hands when the ball got rolled to Holdworth...
After the whistle I found out that just a row behind me was a lad I'd met (and hadn't seen since) 10 years earlier on the trip to Banik Ostrava! Small world! I also remember a lot of blokes crying thay day at the realisation of our first FA Cup Final since black & white days.
Whatever happened in the Final anyway?
