Also, Bannan really is something.

We need to get three in the midfield to stop these free runs they're getting, especially from our occasional laxity in possession. Get Bannan more involved in possession in the centre, we need to stop their breaking and control the game.

Agreed. I'd give Zoggy 60 minutes and start looking at Albrighton if he doesn't show signs of improving.

Hutton still looks a concern, as does Delph.

This is where you need Clark on the bench to come on for Delph and chop down the Newcastle midfield.

Would bring Marco on for the Zog at HT.

Even in this relatively fluid form, this kind of 4-4-2 just looks difficult to hold onto possession with, and our best chance is clearly on the counter at the moment. There's no pressure from the midfield and we're inviting them onto us at times.

Is GG on the bench? - maybe bring him on for Zoggy, and push Gabby wide, with one up front.

Some decent football at times.  Bannan involved in every thing positive.

N'zogbia poor and Delph careless at times.  Worrying how a very average Newcastle side can have so much of the ball and put us under a considerable amount of pressure.

The performance will probably have to improve if we are to win the game.

I really don't know what our problem is here, if not for Given and Gabby and the fact that there front 2 this far are useless we could be 4 or 5 down.

Have to say it, terrible display, N'Zogbia from what i can see is simply not good enough at this level, he must change gear second half, Delph has dropped us in it so often i've lost count and where is Darren Bent what is he doing..........

If it carries on like this as we get other side of 65-70 I would take Bent of play 5 across the centre because they are running riot and coming back at us at will, take of Delph and bring some one on a little less obvious in his play.

Think Fabian Delph has had an absolute nightmare in midfield. We are getting overrun there big time. Would help if Petrov stayed goalside more often. Thats the problem playing two up top, we are desperately lightweight in midfield. Bent looks in awful form this season really. Some miss. Nzogbia is working harder I feel than in previous games but nothing coming off for him.

Dunne and Collins have been very good. Gabby took the goal well and looks sharp the odd time he gets the ball. Bannan looks tidy but is also giving a lot of space defensively. Very little else to be enthused about. Id bring in Jenas for Delph at half time though Petrov seemed as if he was limping at half time there.

Cabeye is running the game for them in midfield. Looks a really good buy.

If we haven't got the quality across the midfield area's in the 2nd half we must put bodies there, see how it goes, take Benty of, leave Gabby up top and play 5 across the middle and at least try to crowd them out.

Newcastle's strength is in the midfield and they're all comfortable on the ball. We need the midfield three (can't really count the Zog) to be more disciplined in their roles, it's all a bit too cavalier for my liking. I'd bring on Albrighton, if not now then certainly on 60 minutes as Newcastle's full backs look weak and N'Zogbia, apart from the through ball to Petrov, is offering nothing. Hutton, with every minute, just makes me realise how much we miss Luke Young.

Apart from that, everybody else is playing their part and it's been entertaining, especially the first 20 minutes. Let's step it up a level and take the 3 points which will as results stand, see us up to 4th place tonight.

This is fucking dire.

1 shot on goal.

All that needs to be said.
Only if you're an idiot.

Gabby's goal.

Bannan's volley.

Bent's two misses.

That's four at least.

Petrov had two shots too.

Why do we have this moron managing our team?

In fairness, that's on target, not one shot overall.

However, why Bannan is off the pitch and Zog still on is a bit of a mystery to me.
yea sorry I did mean on target haha.

It feels like we're the away team even though we're playing at home :(

Sorry, what game are you watching? - Bent's had 2, Gabby 2 also. Banna and Petrov also had shots that were not shabby.
We're blowing it in midfield where the Geordies are outnumbering us.

Yes, you have to question the manager on this - unless Bazza is injured, the manager is a tit.  Maybe Zog  is going roll out the magic in the last 10 mins.

Heard booing on the substitution for Petrov.  Understand why people might be pissed off at the lack of goals after the first one, but what was that about?  Anti Petrov, anti Ireland or anti McL for taking Bannan off?  Just wondering!

Still time to get a winner and we're playing better! C'mon!

Indeed Cabaye is the best player on view, a situation not helped by McLeish taking off our best two midfielders and leaving on our worst two. Mysterious.

We just haven't commanded the game other than in occasional flashes. Poor, really, and reminiscent of the last two games.
The Cabaye and Tiote partnership for the barcodes looks good, though.
