FA Cup every time.
Couldn't tell you what one the top is. Europa League?
-
The FA Cup every time. The oldest cup competition in football. It might not pour hundreds of millions into the clubs and players bank accounts, but for me it's the one trophy I want us to win again before I shuffle off to the Holte End in the sky.
-
FA Cup, duh.
-
Couldn't tell you what one the top is. Europa League?
Yep :D
-
FA Cup, easy!
-
With all due respect, a no-brainer of a thread. You might as well ask if you'd rather win the FA Cup or have your testicles grated. It's always the FA Cup. Don't get me wrong, if we ever win the Europa League I'll get extremely drunk and disgrace myself in public, but I want to see that FA Cup with the Villa ribbons on it. Just once will do. I'm 35. Any time in the next 35 years and I'll die a happy man.
-
FA Cup aka The Holy Grail
-
Carling Cup or Europa might have been a more interesting option.
-
FA Cup every time.

Blimey, what planet have you been living on? It's been around for decades and used to be known as the UEFA Cup, formerly the prize for one of the most storied and coveted competitions in club football.
I would rather have won it than the FA Cup.
I think, on balance, I would rather win the FA Cup than its more recent incarnation, but it's not as cut-and-dried as it seems to be for others.
-
FA Cup more than this, more than the premiership, more than the champions league. All purely selfish - I've seen the last two and I want to see The Cup in my lifetime. It's our cup.
-
Far more romance connected with the FA Cup (despite what the media would have everyone believe), I reckon. I'd actually rather win the league cup than the Europa, to be frank.
-
FA Cup for me our history with the FA Cup I would love it if could win it again that would be my dream.
-
Always the FA cup

My dad started supporting in 1959 when he moved to Brum and he wants to see us win the FA Cup before he dies. TBH I'd take the FA Cup over the Premiership but not the Champions League.
-
However if we ever win the uefa cup/europa league,we have won the grand slam of domestic league, league cup,fa cup, eurpean cup and uefa cup,I think only Liverpool have done that.
-
FA Cup >>> Europa League >>> League Cup.
-
Europa league ? and miss the chance to play Blackburn at home in round 3 !! FA cup all the way.

Beggars can't be choosers. Anything will do.

An interesting question is which one of these are we most likely to win next?
Should be the FA Cup as we are in that every year, but we are Aston Villa.
Is the Europa Cup hard to win once you're in and playing a decent XI? With Fulham and Boro doing well it makes it hard to judge. It's one cup we haven't won but that doesn't bother me.
Back to the original question:
For me
Prem League > FA Cup > Champs League > Europa > Carling Cup
-

Hmmm...it's a close one that.
-
Fa Cup every time!! No Brainer for me!!!
-
Europa/UEFA
Purely because we have never won it
-
It is a source of great embarrassment that a club that has won Old Big Ears 7 times has failed to lift it since 1957. A number of generations of Villa fans have been denied the chance to see us lift that trophy and I genuinely wonder now if I’ll ever see us do it (and I’m only 38). Nothing, nothing comes close to me and I would even sacrifice ’82 De Kuip to see us win.
-
The PL title has to be bought these days, the Chumps League represents everything that's wrong with football, and the UEFA Cup has become as devalued as the League Cup. The FA Cup is all that's left to remind us of what football is really about. I was 3 last time we won it, and to be honest didn't know a fat lot about it. It's the one thing I'd love to win before I have to explain my misdemeanours to my maker.
-
Fa cup every time, beating Man U in the final 7-0 would make it more sweet
-
FA Cup for me too. As a fan of a certain age (51) I have been fortunate to see my team win League, League cups (too many to count, hehe), Champions of Europe etc. but the last FA Cup win was before even I was born.
Considering our history in this famous trophy I too want to witness this in my lifetime to complete the 'set' as it were.
-
FA Cup above all else.
-
we have got to the point where basically, the FA cup and the League cup are the ONLY things we are ever likely to win. If we go out of those early its basically season over. The Europa league involves that many matches and the format is so detremental to everyones domestic priorities that most teams are'nt even bothered anymore, including us under MON.
In an attempt to squeeze even more money out of the fan, the good old UEFA cup, which was always held in high regard was replaced with a second rate champions league......Im glad its flopped then those money grabbing assholes at UEFA will hopefully restore the knockout comp that worked so well.
-
FA Cup, then I'll not renew my season ticket and retire my support satisfied in a job done.
The thought of even winning this trophy sends tears into my eyes,I don't know how I'll survive the reality.

I know exactly what you mean. I can honestly say that the moment I see a Villa player hold up that famous trophy I will be the happiest man alive.
I remember standing to Abide With Me at the 2000 final and seeing grown men in floods of tears as they sang that tune with genuine emotion. It’s something I’ll never forget and I still dream of the emotion I would have felt had we turned up that day and beaten Chelsea.
-
FA Cup for me, CL is a mere dream.....

Added poll.

FA cup, being born in 1983 I really hope I get the chance of seeing us win it one day. Since the league is now essentially impossible, it's the only thing I can hope for.
-
In my lifetime I've seen us win the European Cup, Super Cup, League and League Cup. And, if you like, the Intertoto and Peace Cups.
There's just an FA Cup shaped hole in that list.

But also a Europa League shaped hole as well.
-
If it was the old style UEFA Cup then it's be a close call, but they've de-valued it so much that it's now an automatic choice for the FA Cup.
-
I can name every fan cup winner back to the 70s. Who won the Europa league last season?

That is a bloody good point

What we need is for the English teams to do better in the Europa League.
i.e. Spurs, Stoke and Fulham all get to the Europa League semi-finals
And then an all-English final.
Interest in the Europa League in this country would then increase massively
Similar to the 2007-08 Champions League when we had Liverpool, Chelsea and Man U in the semi-finals and then of course the Man U-Chelsea final in Moscow.

It must be just me then that views the Europa League as a monstrously irritating irrelevance?

It has no history behind it right now so I cna understand that position.
The difference with the Uefa/European Cup comparison was that the top teams were in the UEFA and took it seriously, which isn't the case with the Europa, due to the CL becoming the be all and end all of of club football. The only way the Europa will gain any credibility is at the expence of the CL, so don't hold your breathe.

Personally, I see it as a Champions League for clubs who aren't good enough to get into the Champions League i.e. us.
Would Villas-Boas have got the Chelsea job without his Europa League exploits?

FA Cup every time, the fact that the champions league losers get a place in the europa league makes it a joke of a tournament.
-
FA cup all day, I hope to see us win it in my lifetime!

Europa/UEFA
Purely because we have never won it
This was my thinking.
But I'd love to see us win the FA Cup before I die.
-
Mourinho and Villa-Boas obtained great experience from winning the UEFA/Europa League. It would have been interesting to see how our current manager would have fared if he had stayed with da blooos!!!
-
The winners of the UEFA Cup used to qualify for the Champions League.
The winners of the Europa League qualify for the Europa League...
Can't understand that at all.
-
I'm surprised this question has to be asked. The one that we haven't won since '57, the one my Dad has been waiting to see us win again since he was 14 and who is now in his 70th year. The one that most of us are obsessed with.
-
If they got rid of that stupid group stage, and had it as a straight knock out tournament, and the winners qualified for the CL next season,it would be popular again. Its the number of games that put clubs and fans off.The spurs shamrock clash has a bit of FA cup magic about it though.
-
I think the main reason most Villa fans would vote for the FA cup is because we haven't won it since the dinosaurs were around (well it feels like it anyway). I wonder what a Man City fan would say if they were to slip into the Europa League this season. Winning the EL gives you a respect around Europe whereas the FA cup is now seen as a distraction to the bigger clubs as opposed to the holy grail it once was. Still, as a Villa fan I would vote for the FA, but only because we haven't won it for 50 odd years, if we'd won it recently I'd be more inclined to see us win another European trophy.
-
No contest: The Cup.
-
Always nice to win the FA Cup, no question, however the benefits of winning a European trophy and the players that can attract to a club are indisputable, of course that does depend on the clubs commitment to spend once you have achieved that milestone..
I'm going to go with Europa League, would be nice to kick back or even be there early next summer on a warm balmy night waiting for the lads to emerge out the tunnel to take on some European pretenders.
-
In this order for me...
European Cup
League Title
FA Cup
UEFA Cup
League Cup
Would be very happy with any of them.
-
Ideally, I'd like to see Johnny Dixon lifting the Europa League trophy.
P.S. There are a total of two options for the vote with a note saying can only pick up to two options ? Has anybody voted for both and cancelled themselves out ?
-
In this order:
The FA cup
The FA cup
The FA cup
League Champions
Champion cup
-
Of the 2 listed its the FA Cup as i'm sick of how long it's been. If we'd won it in the last 20 years i'd go for the Europa.
In order my list is
Champions of England
Champions of Europe
FA Cup
Europa
League Cup
-
FA Cup all day long
-
F.A. Cup.
And then the others.
-
To win the Europa League would involve at least nine away trips, so that's a lot of dosh to find up put on the credit card.
To win the FA Cup involves two trips to Wembley as priced by the FA.
So I'll go for the Europa League as it's kinder on the pocket and more fun.
-
Europa/UEFA
Purely because we have never won it
This was my thinking.
But I'd love to see us win the FA Cup before I die.
Me too
There has to come a time when we get home draws against shit teams every round

This is what worries me about the Bolton game on Tuesday. Got a feeling this could be a bit of a bruiser. So if we want to advance, we will probably have to put out a strong team, which is not what we wanted.
-
The 56-57 season was my second on the terraces at VP, By the time that seasons FA Cup Final arrived I was 11 years old and my dad told me I was too young to go to Wembley. ( I think what he really meant was that he was going to be pissed all day and that he'd forget that I was with him.)
The only reason I'm hanging around now is because I want to be at Wembley to see a Villa Captain lift the FA Cup. So come on Villa get it sorted.....unless you want to have the oldest man in the world tottering around The Holte End.
-
The FA Cup. It's the one domestic trophy that we haven't won in my lifetime.

Same here and for a fair percentage on here I'd suspect.

Don't worry, this is our year. ::)
