In light of Hutton's ragged debut yesterday, who else has stunk out the shirt on their debut?
I'll start with the obvious - Ugo Ehiogu
-
Ken McNaught lasted a least a season.
-
Ugo was right back against arsenal wasnt he ?-yes a dreadful debut that one.
Id go for lee hendrie, sent off at qpr on his debut i believe.
-
Dwight Yorke away at Man Utd 89/90.
Collymore v Leicester 97/98

Was this home to Norwich when we lost 3-2?? Every time he got the ball the ground went so quiet cause we were all filled with fear. He was shocking,he did turn it around though.
-
Bouma at West Ham was pretty crap, Harewood getting a hattrick in a dismal Monday nighter.
Stuart Taylor's debut was a crappy 3 1 defeat, where Vassell scored twice.
-
Paul Vertical Clearance Elliot
-
Curtis Davies
-
Another vote for Ugo.
After being 'bigged up' by Big Ron before his debut he had an absolute stinker.
-
Ehiogu's first game was in a 3-1 win over Arsenal. He debuted at right back before losing his place after two games to Dariusz Kubicki.
The Norwich game was his first start at centre-half, but it was more than a year after his debut.
-
George 'the legend' Boateng was pretty atrocious in his first few games at Villa.
Ditto N'Zogbia.
-

Correct - I was sitting behind Nigel Kennedy and his family. He was giving it some mouth, whilst his family looked on bewildered (by Nigil's behaviour, not the sending off). I seem to remember QPR players pleading with the ref not to send him off.
-
Bouma was woeful for about 6 months wasn't he. He did also turn it around.
-
I noticed Bouma scored for PSV today.
-
Ken McNaught by a long way and for a while not just 1 game.
-
Bosnich was utter shite in his Kenilworth Road debut.
-
i would instantly pick from any of the three 'debutants' who played against Spurs on first home game of the relegation season.
-
I would say Curtis Davies.
-
1975 - Andy Gray's debut on a windy day and a bumpy pitch at the lovely Ayresome Park, first touch of a rapist that day.
-
Ken McNaught's extremely poor form lasted pretty much the entirety of his first season. Thankfully, a different Ken appeared the next season.
-
Late entry from Alan Hutton. He can only improve.
-
I would say Ugo to just in front of Hendrie.
-
Steve Foster, although it still turned out to be one of his better games. ;)
-
Didier Agathe ::)
-
Andy Lochead was awful in a 2-0 home defeat to Bristol City and didn't score until well into the following season.
-
Andy Comyn against Liverpool. I Got into the ground just as it kicked off, no one knew who he was and thought Chris Price had put a wig on. My main memory is of John Barnes tearing him a new one, resulting in him falling over on more than one Occasion. Surprisingly I think we got away with a 1-1 draw that night.
-
1-1 it was and what a seaon that followed.
-

I was at that. Hendrie had come on in the 1st half when Draper got injured and got booked for kicking the ball away. 2nd half right in front of the dug out he brought down a Rangers player, it was Ray Wilkins who went straight over to the ref to plead for the 2nd yellow not to come out.
-
Stephen Ireland at Newcastle last season.
-
Another vote for Stephen Ireland.
Thank God that woeful display was a one off from our World Class midfield maestro !
-
I seem to remember Alan McInally having a pretty ropey first few games, although he was coming back from an injury.
-
No one could possibly top Ugo surely? I think the saying amongst the players for having a nightmare debut was, ' Having a Ugo'

I watched him having an absolute mare against Norwich, but as far as I recall, his debut was an away game in London,Arsenal or Wimbledon.

You're probably right. Humor me, I'm very old :)
-
I've checked, he made his debut at home as a sub against Arsenal. So my memory aint the best either :(

Would you care to join me in another cup of Alzheimers?
