Title: Villa announce new partnership with EA Sports
Post by: mrfuse on September 08, 2011, 09:58:10 AM
Not sure exactly what the benefits are to us but Does this mean that we will finally get the Villa Park stadium in Fifa 12?  :D

From FIFA Soccer Blog:

So we aren’t done with the list of partners. Aston Villa now join the club. Sorry, terrible pun, I’m really tired. It does explain why they were playing early though.

As with the Previous announcements they will:

Be hosting various club events and experiences.
Have an Aston Villa-specific FIFA 12 game sleeve featuring three star players, which fans will be able to download for free from the Club website around the launch of FIFA 12.
Have content  produced in the lead-up to key matches, which will be featured on the club website and social media channels.
Have selected FIFA 12 match simulations and stylised video edits featuring Villa players, and will be calling out to fans to play FIFA 12 and score goals for their Club against the opposition teams.
Have the EA SPORTS gaming trailer attend selected match days over the course of the season at Villa Park, so fans can try out the FIFA 12 and challenge their friends and family.
Have a Pro Player Tournament at the training ground to determine which Aston Villa player is the best FIFA 12 gamer.
Nick Harford, Fooball Business Lead at EA SPORTS said: “We are very excited about our new partnership with Aston Villa and very much look forward to providing FIFA gaming experiences for both fans at Villa Park and players at the Bodymoor Heath training ground.”

Aston Villa’s Chief Executive, Paul Faulkner said: “We are delighted to partner with EA SPORTS for the next two seasons. EA SPORTS leads the way in terms of sporting games, especially football, and I’m sure many of our fans will have played and enjoyed its FIFA games.

“I have no doubt that the partnership will be mutually beneficial and we look forward to successful seasons working together.”

Boo, hiss.

Bloody hate that game, but that's an argument for another thread.

I've yet to play a football game that's as much fun as Sensible Soccer anyway.

Indeed.  That game probably cost me a 2:1 in my degree.  I also liked the fact that on the Megadrive version, Sega obviously had licensing issues that the Amiga version didn't suffer from, and Paul Ince was listed as P.Once.

Someone is bound to correct me here, but Newcastles grond has been on the game for at least 10 years. It was added when they were at the height of their sky popularity. I guess its easier graphics wise, to amend and improve the original stadium than start from scratch, hence they still have the stadium.

I like the EA Sport football games I won the league two years on the trot with Villa.

I remember a licensing issue where Ronaldo (the fat Brazilian) was always just called No.9.  Can't remember which that was, early Pro Evo games possibly.

I always make the Westfalenstadion our default stadium and pretend that Doug rebuilt the ground properly, with a plan in mind, in the 1990s.  Ah, we can dream can't we.

I can announce that I have just given up Sky Sports, including SSN (yippee), got rid of Sky movies and music, kept HD, got a £78 credit on my broadband and gone from £110 per month to £45 per month for FreesatHD/ unlimited broadband/evening and weekend calls....all for the sake of a (rather long) call to Sky saying I wanted to save some money

Nice to know I am no longer funding Sean Wright-Phillips or some other div head's disgusting pay packet quite to the tune I was!

Which was the game where if you hacked a player down, they hobbled around in a pool of blood until they got substituted? Quite theraputic I seem to remember, for those days after we'd lost a game to a dodgy dive for a penalty/free kick.

Sounds like a good deal to me, Fifa is generally considered to be the top end of these footy games, so its only good that Villa are associated with that.

I went from 71 a month on Sky - movies, sports (except ESPN), HD, multiroom - to 21 (documentaries, music, basic Sky package) last year and have barely noticed the difference.

I think it's funny that Mutu is named "Murgu" in FIFA, presumably because of his drug bans. But Rio Ferdinand is still himself, I'm sure Kolo Toure will still be himself... hypocrisy?

I think I shall feel the same PW though it doesn't kick in until early October. I barely watch SSN these days - transfer deadline day being about the final straw of a lot of final straws for me - and I shall save so much time over the weekends not watching some ghastly idiotic drool fest by a bunch of no marks over the latest title deciding game to see who can buy the Premier league the quickest. Already, it feels wonderfully liberating. Avoid Talkawholelottashite on the radio and you just about divorce yourself from all these twats...

We're not the only club to do this.

Derby and Leeds have it as well.

Man City however have an extra special partnership where they get extra stuff including their stadium in the game...
