Lost his job at Gainsborough Trinity so I'm lead to believe.
-
Surely there's still room for him at Villa in some capacity?
-
Been quite a fall considering how well he did here. Has he just failed to change with the times, or is he no longer interested in the limelight?
-

Yep,come back home Sir Brian.
-
His career has all been downhill since the moment that Doug got the hots for SVC.
-
I would also like him to be some way working at the Villa again.
-
I think that time has passed, sadly I can't think of much a role where he could help too much at Villa. Maybe in an ambassadorial role, but Ian Taylor's already baggsied that spot hasn't he? I reckon he would be just as happy continuing his work for Sky, maybe writing the odd column for the Meaning Evil and getting himself a season ticket at the Home of World Football, as he always said he would.
-
He was a pundit on Setanta Ireland a good bit last season.
-
Very sad. I always thought he'd make it back to the Premier League as a manager. He did so well in the 90s.
-

Still is.
-
What a shame his managerial career has ended with the sack from a Conference North side. I'm surprised he took the job in the first place, and Wrexham too for that matter. Let's hope he finds something rewarding to do away from management.

As well as player and manager he also worked in the shop/development association and commercial department after he finished playing. So there aren't many roles at Villa he hasn't had already.

Why do Brian Little keep losing his jobs as he is a good manager until the arrival of Stanley Victor Collymore. Could without the work of John Gregory and Allan Evans he doesn't seem to do well.

What?
-
Since the Villa his managerial record hasn't been much better than awful.
What happened?

Are you Yoda ?

I have an interest as i work for solihull moors who play in the same league. I am a little surprised as I was led to believe that brian wanted to learn some grass Roots football and build up his career again.
Not sure where he can go now but wish him well
Oh and a cheeky plug for Solihull Moors playing away at Bishop Stortford tomorrow night. But come and have a look at one of our games when Villa are not playing you'll be surprised at the Mpm League matchday experience
-
He might look like he doesn't care but Brian Little walks on water..he also put together the best Villa team in recent years. Anybody that doubts it is a fool.
If Brian was a gobshite he'd be manager of Spurs.
-
As one who sang that famous song and admire everything about the bloke, I am again saddened by his latest set back, maybe he is just too nice a bloke to survive in the football management game.
-
His heart hasn't been in it since the day he walked out on us.

Dave I guess you have met him, what is he like in person?

I think there's a dignity issue about employment, and also a perception that people involved in football are very well financially rewarded, regardless of the reality. After a certain age, your chances of changing your career based on historical evidence isn't impossible, but will be limited.
-

You beat me to that post Dave. He felt he had to leave Villa due to his personal problems and never really got his career going again. He touted himself for the job the summer we appointed O'Leary and I would have given him another shot. And yes, he probably was/is too nice.

An absolute bastard. Short-tempered, aggressive, foul-mouthed and obnoxious in every way.
That had you going didn't it? He's exactly as you'd expect - a total gent.
-
Cheers Dave, still one of my Heroes.
-
Shame. It hurts me to see Brian struggling. I hope he has enough to retire into punditory.
-
Did you know Brian's brother Alan at all Dave? He always struck me as being far more aggressive as a player and a person when they were both at villa as young players.

Didn't they beat you 3-0 on the opening day?
Anyway, that's now Gainsborough Trinity added to the 'shit list'.

Agree with that
he should be putting his feet up, can't imagine he needs the money

I believe he achieved his ambition which was to manage the Villa, anything else would have been a let down!

There was a great pull out picture of him and Bruce Rioch in training at the start of the 71/72 season in the programme last Saturday.. My two heroes when my dad first took me to stand on the Witton End.
-
Fantastic ! Didn't even see that photo hidden behind Charles Insomnia.......
Also my two Villa heroes, Brian and Bruce.
Surely we can get Little involved somewhere in the club, he is such a Villa man.
-
The best manager we've had since Saunders. If I owned Villa, I'd have given him the job this summer. It probably wouldn't have worked out, but bollocks to you lot, it's my fucking club, and if I want to give Sir Brian a job, which one of you bastards is going to stop me?
Nurse!

Think I know what you're saying, and I tend to agree.
Brian Little with John Gregory and Allan Evans as assistants was a great team. Little was a great manager whilst Gregory and Evans exelled at coaching. When Gregory went to manage his own club Brian took on the coaching role too. Then Doug bought Collymore and it undermined Littles work. I don't think Brian wanted Collymore as Dwight and Savo were just begining to 'click'
I'm convinced that had Collymore not arrived things would have worked out much better for Sir Brian of Villa Park.
Also, had John Gregory stayed as his assistant things would have been better too

Na, Taylor and Atkinson were better. Can't remember a Villa team ever playing better football than Big Ron's Villa.
-
I don't know from a personal perspective but post Villa he seems to have either failed to settle at any level or produced a string of poor results. I guess expectations will always be higher than achievements if you are an ex-premiership manager.
Brother Alan did really well at York some years back, but seems to have gone off the radar since-he seemed more suited to the role than Brian. Don't think he is doing much now either.

It could be the mind playing up but I seem to remember Brian expressing an interest (pre SVC) in Andy Cole to partner Dwight, who was struggling at MU at the time. Probably would't have worked, Yorke & Cole !!!

Hmmmm Remind me, Who was the football man again? :-)
-
Andy Cole wasout of favor at the time recouperating from a broken leg or similar injury, caused by Ruddock i seem to remember. What a shame that
Brian could not have put them together for Villa. Also claimed by Doug, we should have signed Andy Cole from Bristol? if he could have contacted Ron Atkinson on the Phone

I dont usually agree with much of what you say Risso but that gets a big double thumbs up from me!

I'd love it if we had Peter Risso-dale running the Villa.
