The transfer thread is still going, yet most of us seem to think nothing will happen. AM has hinted at 'trading', plus a few seem to think a late loan deal or two is still in the offing, and of course the papers will still be making some shit up until the end of the month.
So, simple question; will we sign anyone else?
Lets try and keep the actual speculation as to who for the transfer thread - I was just wondering what the majority though!
-
I've gone for No. I genuinly believe what was said a few weeks back that this is it.
The only way we will sign anybody is if somebody goes.
-
I think as the transfer market heats up in the last few days, i would bet we will lose another main first team player which will mean we have to dive in and get cover, that for me that is how it will happen.

which player ? a main first teamer no way ?!
are u meaning like of beye ? who else ? or are we not to mention players on this bit ?
LOL
In all seriousness i think trading will be done by quite a few teams and if we do trade out we will trade in.
Also a few loan moves not out of the question for villa so i opt yes
-
I doubt it. Maybe a loan or free on deadline day. That would be most exciting.
-
Maybe Randy will invest some of the money we took in for Downing and Young, double or trebble it before January and then splash out on some superstar defensive midfielder or winger?
We live in hope! I think we're probably just about OK as we are in terms of the squad. We just lack a couple of stand out players. For example, a lot of our central midfield are solid but nothing to get excited about. And players like that cost a lot of money.

Thats why i think loan deals are not out of question
agreement to sign would have to see players out first due to high wage bill
basically if villa sel they wil bring in
otherwise an option for loan deals most likely

I'm purely going on what will force Villa into the transfer market, hunch in other words, it will need what we consider to be one of our more prominent players in order to force our hand to have to go into the transfer market, I think TBH if someone came in for the likes of Beye i think they would cash in and think ourselves lucky we got rid of.
Other than that I just can't see any movement happening.
-
I think we'll see one in, a loan or freebie, and one or two out that won't matter to us. If nobody goes I still think Randy might sanction another deal.
-
Yes, a late loan deal I reckon.
-
This is our lot.
-
MON style last minute deal.
-
Haha good old MON
maoloney was v last min as was dunne
but was this all mon ?? How about learners role?
And of course the clubs and players in question in couple of deals had a lot to sort out
2 last minute deals were very much down to negotiations with represenatives and plyers clubs
agreeing on settlement before moving the maloney and dunne moves are examples of this
-
I really hope we do sign somebody else but I cant see it myself So it will have to be a no for me.
-
We HAVE to sign someone or sometwo, surely to God.
-
As much as I'd like to say yes methinks it's a no, then again 5 years ago I was told I was mad buying commmodities look at me now mu ha ha ha! ;D
Who knows really but I'd like to think we're looking at a DM with a bit of venom.
-
We'll get 2 loans in.
-
got to sign someone, a loan at least. It could be the difference between 13th or 8th .. And thats money in the prem positions ..
-
Think we'll definitely get at least one loan in. From other reports it looks like we were sniffing round Milner and Johnson so seems to confirm we're looking.
-
Yes. I expect panic to set into the market in the last few days. There is still a lack of urgency and only when a player is forced to drop his demands or a club is forced to sell in order to buy will things move. With the exception of only a couple of teams everyone is in the same boat. We've just been the most vocal about balancing the books. But I expect 1 more in.
-
It's the same old Villa.
"Computer says no"
-
No
we'll only sign someone if someone goes, who we gonna shift?
-
Nothing doing
-
£37m brought in, and £13m spent.
6-8 First team players gone, 2 new signings.
And most people agree that that will be all.
What a depressing state of affairs.
-
I think we will still do something but it won't be earth-shattering.
-
Unless we are playing a game of poker with Blues over Dann, I would say one or two loans. I know we aren't supposed to mention names but maybe Palacios?
-
At least one - possibly two. Ever the optimist.
Our hand may be forced if one of our senior players picks up a medium term injury between now and Aug 31st.
I'd prefer us to be proactive rather than reactive, but if it means extra bodies in so be it.
-
I hope we bring someone else in, but i'm not overly optimistic.
-
I hope so, a winger hopefully to take the pressure off Albrighton a little.
-
I`ve gone for yes on the basis that me thinks Steve Ireland and Carlos (if his knee injury gets better) will be gone soon

I think this is a case of whether your glass is half full or half empty. From the fans perspective in the short term it may seem depressing. What fan doesn't enjoy bringing in stars like Bent? What fans hate to see the likes of Ashley and Downing leave?
Thing is that Randy has invested massive funds in AVFC and reading between the lines of the spin of the General and the media we are to believe that much of the 37m minus the 13m was to be used to paying down some of the debt/loans and also the ongoing daily costs of running AVFC.
I am sure that AM is still looking at potential deals and if something makes sense and adds value to the strength of the squad based on need and budget restraints, I wouldn't be surprised to see one more new arrival before the window closes.
At the same time I won't be surprised if we see some of the younger players going out on loan rather than biding their time between the bench and the reserves.
As for depression, I have supported AVFC for too many years to let things get to me. If I feel it coming on I pop the DVD "Match of the Millennium" on the telly to remind me that over a period of time Villa has moments of greatness that have taken place and there are more yet to come.
Villa is a bit like the weather, if you wait long enough the sun eventually shines even if it is not for long. When it does it's fantastic.
-
The purse strings are getting tighter, think Randy will ride the storm until January.
Hope Cuellar stays and we might be ok at the back.. If Bent gets injured the goals will be hard to come by.
Cant rely on Heskey and Delboy for goals, Gabby will need to have his best season so far for me!
-
We aren't signing anyone else.
-
We are signing someone else.
I don't know really, I just think definite answers make me look badass.
-
We won't. I don't think.

You're right, if I was a girl I'd be in love with you.
I'd say it's unlikely but they've done plenty under the radar of the supposed ITK lot over recent months so I wouldn't put money on it.
-
I really dont want any loan signings. I'd rather one of our own youngsters get some experience. We wont get relegated and we wont get into europe anyway so lets give our own lads a chance, theyre at that age now when they should be playing. Albrighton, Bannan, Clark, Delfouneso, Lichaj, Baker all impressed me last year and we've got Gardner and Weiman coming through. I'd be very disappointed if they didn't get any games due to us using other clubs youngsters.

That's the best comparison to our club I think I've ever read. Love it!!

The sort of loan we've been talking about is not a Walker type deal from Spurs, but rather getting a player like Parker to do a job for 12 months until we can (hopefully!) start spending again.

Well thats even more unlikely then, as we've been led to believe the spending has stopped due to wages being out of control and not because money for transfer fees isnt available.
-
I think unless we move out Beye or Cuellar we will not be signing anyone, theirs 80k a week going to those two.
