Gets better with each viewing. He scored a carbon copy at home to QPR a few months later on the opening day of the following season.
-
It's the noise it makes as it hits the post and goes in which I love. Good old Stan, he couldn't half hit a ball.
-
I love the fella in the black and red shell suit that pops up behind the goal outraged at the united defence - like they could have prevented it. I remember thinking for about 5 minutes we're gonna do it the leagues ours, will we ever get that close again?
-
Watched it at my mates house, his stuck up manyoo supporting in-laws were there with their noses in the air. Cue disgusted tutting as I'm bouncing round the room screaming!
-
Lovely goal from Stan, such a shame we lost the league to them that season.
-
Fantastic goal. I remember being so bloody nervous watching that game. Horrible feeling. Football should come with a serious health warning.
-
I remember him being interviewed after the game and saying "I just pinged it". I thought 'pinged' was a good word to describe it.
-
I saw this game on a big screen in the then supporters club at the back of the Holte before most people had Sky, a great atmosphere.
I always thought we could win it until the Easter weekend when we couldn’t break down Coventry’s 10-0-0 formation and potatoheads 25th minute injury time winner, I knew deep down that it was unlikely after that.
-
We didn't have many tickets for the game because Mould Trafford was being re-developed. So I watched at a mate's house who had Sky, it was still pretty rare then. I remember running out into the middle of the road when we scored jumping up and down, probably the most I've celebrated a goal when not at the actual match.
-
I had one of the 600 odd tickets we were allocated along with a few mates.
Met Tom Ross outside, he was with George Gavin and when we started ripping the piss out of Ross, Gavin joined in with us.
It was my birthday and I missed a massive Irish wedding to attend the game. Despite how things turned out I made the right decision in light of the fact that I am highly unlikely to experience anything like it again.

Great player was Stan!

Same for me too - that noise as it hits the post is glorious.

You reckon?

You reckon?
Yes, without a doubt. Did you see him play for us? Best leftback I've seen play for us.

I'll second that although Alan Wright was very very good too for 3-4 seasons.

I managed to score a ticket in the family section for this game but it was a really intimidating atmosphere in there, the redmancs didn't like it when all us villa fans celebrated Stan's goal

I thought he was great in his first spell but I was quite young and am the same nationality as Stan, so naturally would.
