Who are you backing / supporting / booing?
McDowell / Westy / and tbc for my bets and support. I'm looking forward to it.
-
Love watching Ernie Els but think he's shot it now. Reckon Poulter has a chance and Luke Donald but my money's on McIlroy. That said we've had some no marks win it out the blue in recent years - Hamilton, Curtis and Lederhosen or whatever his name was last year so who can tell.
-
I have been backing Westwood over the last few months so have to stick with him in this.
He's my main bet but with such a big field having a few sheckles on Kuchar, Els, Rose, Jacobsen, Wilson and Hansen.
If McIlroy wins having not played since winning the US Open then he is the next coming of Christ never mind the next Tiger Woods!
-
I would like to back Garcia, as he's been close to rediscovering his best form the last few weeks. Too short a price at 33/1 though.
I'm gonna have a few quid each way on Cabrera, Choi and Cink methinks.
-
dustin johnson is worth a few quid good price and will win a major soon
-
Another of the summer's big sporting non events for me I'm afraid, following hard on the heels of Wimbledon and Royal Ascot. Golf, Tennis and horse racing are my three least favourite major sports. Thank goodness there is the Tour De France and the athletics world championships to rescue the summer...not to mention the cricket of course!
-
I want Westwood to win a major. Its his time now, surely.
-
I've gone on Westwood / Garcia & Francesco Molinari.
Supposed to be windy at weekend so players like Jimenez, Poulter & even a Langer come into it.
-
And they're off. Looks very windy, could be some high scoring.
-
Sergio Garcia
-
Cracking round from Bjorn.
Westwood is in the process of fucking his tournament up.
Most of the favourites hovering around par so they are all still in it.
Poulter to win.
-
Tom Watson's hole in one today was a great moment.
-
Err, not Poulter then!
-
Or Luke Donald
-
Rory holdng on though.
-
......my other bets were Goosen and Garcia, so only Sergio left running.
Could be an interesting weekend.
-
Been a challenging few days of golf then. If Clarke can hang on though I'll be so chuffed for him. Did think Garcia or Westwood could do it but Garcia now looks to be too far back. If not Clarke, Fowler would be a worthy winner.
-
Really hope Clarke wins, but Mickelson is on the charge.
-
Big eagle for DC.
-
Clarke has this one sewn up.
-
Fantastic for Clarke, comes across as a genuinely nice bloke.
-
Agreed, comes across fantastically.
Loved is comment about his celebrations tonight being long and involving a heavy hangover!
-
Well done DC, congratulations.
-
One of my most unashamedly emotional moments watching sport was Darren Clarke, with Ian Woosnam lifting his arms aloft at the ryder cup in 06.
Absolutely made up for the guy.
-
Fantastic.
Conclusive proof that sometimes the good guys really do win
I agree with taylors above as well, the emotions he must have been going through to play in the Ryder Cup in '06 so soon after his wife had passed away.
Norn Iron now have three major winners.

Incredible really for such a small nation.
Surely they deserve to host an open championship in the near future. Royal County Down and Royal Portrush are both wonderful courses.
-
Maybe a Ryder Cup at Portrush? With Darren Clarke as captain?
-
I think the issue with those courses are their capacity to hold crowds and parking etc. The courses themselves are great.
-
There's obviously a few golfers on here. I've recently been having a few lessons and I'm keen to get more time on the course rather than the driving range. A H&V Golf Society would be good - have clubs, will travel. Failing that, anybody in the South East fancy a game, get in touch.
