Juan Pablo Angel's old club River Plate have been relegated for the first time in there history fans rioted inside the stadium there were reports that one fan as had a heart attack all this with the country hosting the Copa America in five days time.
-
The fact that this can happen to River Plate gives us hope that something similar can happen to Man Utd.
-
I think I'd rather see Spurs go down.
Spurs, Man U and Liverpool would be perfect. That said, I never get tired of watching Geordies cry...

River Plate keep selling all the stars players and eventually it bite them hard as they won't be able to find/develop decent replacement
-
Had no idea they were anywhere near in danger of going down. The Argies had better do well at the Copa America now or there'll be a few more riots i'd imagine.
-
I thought they took it well.
-
Just think what would have happened if they had appointed our manager...
-
I went to a random league game there a few years ago and the police presence was ridiculous. I can't even begin to imagine the amount of trouble there would've been after this.

Wiki states:
Los Borrachos del Tablón (Drunks of Terrace in english) is the barra brava of the Club Atlético River Plate. They are considered one of the most violent and feared barra brava group in Argentina, and one of the four most powerful
Another translation is drunks of the plank.
Looks like Los Borrachos might need to forsake the bottle for the crack pipe.
-
Dulwich Hamlet's equivalent is known as 'the rabble behind the goal'
-
I like rivers and plates.

How ironic. I thought HMS Conqueror sent Belgrano permanently down a while back.

Made me smile seeing Belgrano's team name.
-
I feel bad for saying that now. Just a stupid reaction to the name. :-X
-
Kind of ironic since the rules for relegation were changed back in the 80s to save them from the drop. What goes around comes around I suppose.
-
I went to the first game of the season in 2007, this when the barras bravas traditionally appoint their leader for the season. This is an important gig because that means they generally control the catering, away travel etc for the season i.e. get rich.
They didn't arrive until well into the match which I thought was weird. It turns out they were all outside the stadium negotiating who should be the new boss. In reality this means they were riotting and stabbing each other.
Am I right in thinking they actually did quite well this season but it was their record last year that relegated them?
-
*Prays this happens to manure and 'The Mighty Reds YNWA'*

Something like that. The average points total is totted up over the last three seasons if I remember right. As I said, this system was hastily brought in back in the day specifically to save River from relegation.
-
It's a bloody stupid system. Almost makes the SPL seem sensible. Only almost though.
-
They should get them water cannons down the take that gig. We could claim the guiness book of records for the worlds biggest wet tshirt contest!

So this as a good case to prove karna?

Yeah, heard that and couldn't work it out at all. Can they come back up straight away or will they have to wait a few years with that system?
-
No, it's automatic promotion from the second division. The average points system was only bought into the first division to save the really big clubs if they happened to have one bad season.

The whore that birthed him and his sister's pussy - a fans reaction to watching his team go down!
-
^^ I just came on here to post that.
That's the Argentinian Risso.

Absolutely brilliant! Multiple birthing whores???

Just like an English Premier League Team located in Aston!
