Post by: Irish villain on June 23, 2011, 08:53:56 PM: Just found this on you tube. I remember the day well. Angel's first goal for villa and Merson scored a beauty. We have a habit of sending teams down don't we?

The great thing about Merson he was so unpredictable and always put in a decent shift for us!

My main memory is of the Coventry fan with the 'We'll be back' sign.

I have a feeling our first goal came from a howler from their keeper (Kirkland?).

No probs. I was glad to find it myself. I think that was the first time we wore that kit, it was the one we used the following season.

My wife came with me and three mates even though she was nearly a week overdue with our son. I had visions of him being born in the physios room at Villa Park!
