French veteran Robert Pires has hit out at a perceived lack of respect during his spell at Aston Villa.
The 37-year-old joined Villa on a six-month deal in November after leaving Villarreal, but he made just 12 appearances for the club.
The French winger was left frustrated by his lack of first-team action and has branded his stay at the club as a 'failure'.
"When I look back, I am extremely disappointed," he told The Express and Star.
"During the match at Arsenal, we were winning 2-0 and I thought Gary McAllister was going to put me on. It was at that moment I said to myself there was a lack of respect."
