Just a heads up to anyone who can listen on Thursday, our hero Brian Little, who walks upon the water, will be chatting to his former strike partner Andy Gray on the Keys n' Gray show at 10am on Talk Sport.
Should be good.

10am ? I will be locked on !

Thanks for the info Oscar, and most assuredly I will be braving the echo chamber, amplified adverts for commercial vans and wholesale building materials to tune in and listen to the great man.
I must point out however, that Littlehampton is ghastly. Quite ghastly.
-
Andy Gray has always said Brian Little was the best strike partner he ever had, ahead of Graeme Sharp and John Richards.
-
I will be tuned into that on Thursday cheers Oscar.

Little, Gray and Keys - The Good, The Bad and The Ugly!

I know not many people like him on here for whatever reason, but I've always found Gray very entertaining and knowledgable, apart from being one of my early Villa heroes. The great Brian Little was his best striking partner, and he owes nearly all of his success to him...just a sneak preview of what he'll be saying on Thursday !

simply the greatest natural talent of his era in my humble opinion. His one cap simply sums up how biased to the 'big clubs' they were in those days and indeed today.

Brian very kindly gave the trophies out at my junior football teams presentation evening on saturday.
He was an absolute gentleman, and said a few words at the start of the evening - about how important it was for the boys to practice, work hard and listen to the coaches for them to progress.
He then passed the microphone to me to make a speech about my teams season - I think I held it together !!
My Son received the most improved player award, presented by Brian - unless we can persuade Paul McGrath in the future it will never get any better than that.
Just magic.

He can't have been in a partnership that produced more goals that he and Little did in 1977.
-
Apologies if this has been posted somewhere else. But i caught Andy Gray saying today that Sir Brian will be in the studio on their show on thursday morning between 10 and 1pm.
It'll be the only reason to listen to that crap, though i've heard Gray speak very highly of Brian, saying that he owes alot of his earlier sucess in England to the great man.
-
Brian Little is GOD - and i only remember him as a manager.
-
QPR hat- trick in the semi's at Highbury if I remember rightly and then the 2 in the final....absolute legend.
-
The finest player to ever grace the hallowed turf.
-
What Coops said. The best I have ever seen. Nobody since has come anywhere near.

Little, Gray and Keys - The Good, The Bad and The Ugly!
The God, the Sad and the Hairy
-
If he had bought his first choice partner for Dwight - Andy Cole, and not Collymore, he may still be manager.

Not strictly true, I think Revie would have kept Little in the England squad if his form hadn't totally evaporated at the start of 75/76 prior to his injury at Everton at the start of October.
I'd agree that he was wrongly overlooked during his 26 goal season in 76/77, but even then he didn't totally recapture the almost unstoppable form of January to May 75 when he was definitely the best inside forward in the country.
From 77/78 onwards Brian did nothing for his cause principally due to his very poor scoring record.

Totally agree with you.
Actually Little and Leonard ripped the Second division to shreds that season, but Brian, although hugely talented, would be the first to agree he didn't live up to his undoubted potential.
He used to glide past players with effortless ease, but the passages of time do leave us all a bit misty-eyed sometimes and I can still remember how frustrated I used to get with Brian missing one-on-ones...which he used to do a lot !
But when he was hot, he was hot, encapsulated in that season in 74-75, when he scored 10 of his 23 goals in his last 6 games, and Leonard 5.

Sir Brian Little, my favourite goal of his about 10 secs in. :)

My dad first went to Villa Park in the 1930s and said no player gave him more pleasure to watch than Brian Little, notwithstanding the imperfections.
-
Those who saw the 5-1 demolition of Liverpool in December, 76 were privileged to witness a sublime display of skill from Brian.

I was at that game. The overhead kick at the Holte End stands out, but his second goal was sublime. The defender he made a complete mug of (Mike Doyle of Man City) with his footwork was an England centre half at the time.

BDE I was only a very impressionable 13 year old at that match and as a kid I was attempting that over head kick in Stetchford Park the very next chance I got !!
I sadly missed the oppotunity to meet the great man when he was here in Cambridge with Wrexham for a match.

Andy Gray just said he's on around 12, so we have a little time to wait.
One of his best Villa displays for me was the promotion night at Hillsborough, when Brian and Leonard ripped Sheffield Wednesday to shreds in that great 4-0 win...Brian's second goal, when he volleyed in Chico's cross, always sticks in my memory and the scenes on the pitch afterwards are an unforgettable memory.
-
My favourite display of Brian Little was the hatrick he scored against QPR at Villa Park in the semi final of the Leagure cup, i think in 77.
-
giddy was a naughty boy ;-)
-
Great to hear Brian's voice again.
Early highlights of the interview:
Loved Villa the first time he set foot in Villa Park
Digs with Roy Stark
Homesick and nearly went home after 6 months
Ran away on the bus because he wouldn't have his hair cut!
Problems with Saunders
Gidman texted while on air !
Praise for Andy Lochead/Keith Leonard
Fantastic.
-
Talked mostly about Villa, but so annoying listening to constant ad breaks and Key's voice.
Other highlights:
Saunders fined him every month
Fell out with him after he was told he 'wasn't needed' after he'd found a replacement in Gary Shelton, who scored a hat-trick in a 5-1 win against Arsenal.
He 'thankfully' failed a medical at Birmingham, but liked Jim Smith, who flew him to Portugal and agreed terms in a beach bar!
Gray revealed he fell out with Saunders after he labelled him a disgrace to the club and fans after a disagreement over his many injuries.
Discussed Little scoring at The Nou Camp and Gidman being sent off...Gray was as usual, injured.
The League Cup Final oddesey with Everton
-
cheers Oscar as I was unable due to work to be able to listen but I'm hoping to catch it some how(iplayer type thingy)
I was at the Nou Camp last year and got to look round the away dressing rooms and all I could think about was all the Villa players that had got changed in there before they played Barcelona.
Brian Little walks on water ? indeed !

Great to hear Sir Brian, but we could've heard an awfull lot more without the unprofessional and constant interuptions of Keys and Gray. Gray in particular got up my nose, he seemed to think his stories were as important as Little's, yet Little was the invited guest.
On the subject of Saunders, both agreed that they fell out with him but while Little aknowledged that, with age and experience and on becoming a manager he could understand why Saunders was the way he was, Gray played the role of bitter and twisted ex-pro and came across with all the maturity of a five year old.
Keys just oozes smarm and arrogance and I can now see why there were so many stories floating about regarding their lack of popularity at Sky, deeply unpleasant is being kind.
Brian also agreed with most Villa fans that whatever happens regarding the managerial position, it needs to be sorted out sooner rather than later.
-
I didn't think Gray sounded bitter at all, he said he would be fit for the Barcelona game, Ron said if your not fit now your not coming. Ron then told the press that Gray was a cheat and a liar, that's when gray decided he couldn't play for Ron Saunders anymore.
It depends which side of the coin you believe.

I didn't say I didn't believe Gray, he may well be telling the truth. It was the way it came across and the difference between his attitude and Little's regarding their run-ins with Saunders.
-
I didn't think that Gray came across that badly when telling his Saunders story. Keys gets on my tits butting in with shitty facts. I wish they would've discussed his time as manger of Villa,i wondered how far he felt the 95-97 team could've gone.

Gray "wrote" some form of autobiography didn't he? I used to have it on audio and he was pretty damning on Ron Saunders. Some interesting stuff if it's true...That Barca story was told on it, exactly as said above...
