Great night at the Cross, Oldswinford last night to see our hero Peter Withe.
Not only was the great man highly amusing and full of funny stories but he stayed late until
all autographs were signed and photos were taken. Many thanks to Ted and Gary at the
Cross for another wonderful night.
Peter harks from an age when footballers were not all over paid prima donnas and the players were closer to the fans and there was a more common bond – I can’t see Darren Bent giving a talk in the Cross in 20 years time to 150 people, he won’t need the money. And we all love a traditional big, swashbuckling centre forward, especially when he scored the winning goal in the European Cup Final and his name is Peter Withe.

Yeah....these ex- footballers should be cut in stone and mounted at the players entrance to remind the current and future crops of what real footballers stood for.

I have met Peter Withe a couple of times and each time he was brilliant. He had time to chat and pose for photo's and was speciall good with the kids. If only the current crop could take on board the same attitude...
