So what do you reckon? Which was your favourite or best one in your eyes?
In terms of quality we haven't been overly spoilt this season but i would go with Darren Bent's 1st against Arsenal last week. I also liked Milner's on day one vs West Ham and The Fonz's at home to Blackpool.
In terms of sheer emotion i would go for Collins vs The B-lose at the Sty which preserved our unbeaten league record against them.
-
And Heskey's late winner vs Wolves as well!
-
Albrighton against Utd for me, great team goal.
-
My favorite was Bent's first against Manchester City. Immediately showed why he was worth the price. I don't remember the commentator, but he said it best as soon as Bent fired it home - "That's what 18 million gets you - it gets you goals."
That's all that needed to be said. And Darren has continued to show why the deal was great value.

We have had some good goals this season
Walker V Fulham.
Ash V Blackburn (the second, although the penalty won me £75)
Downing V Blackburn
Albrighton V Man Utd
Bent V Arsenal x2
-
Kyle Walker at Sheffield United in the Cup.
[/youtube]
-
Petrov in the same game.
-
Albrighton at home to Man United for me.
-
Albrighton against Utd for me, great team goal.

Poll?
-
Dazzler's first against Arse for me.
-
Dazzler's first against Arse for me.
Me too
-
Pires against Blackburn in the Cup
Simply because we had given him so much stick we just knew he was going to score

This.
Also this.
Yes
This for me, too.
-
Poll?
Post your list of options and I'll set one up.
-
Dazzler's first against Arse for me.
That goal was of supreme quality. The way Bent killed the long pass on his chest then dink-volleyed the ball past the keeper in the same movement was world-class. If Rooney had scored that goal we'd still be seeing it on Sky Sports News every night.
-
Bananaman to Albrighton at Fulham. Our much-vaunted youth policy bearing fruit in some style.
-
Albrighton v Fulham
Albrighton v Man Utd
Bent v Arsenal (1st)
Walker v Sheff Utd
Petrov v Sheff Utd
Downing v Blackburn
Walker v Fulham
Would be my shortlist...
-
Thanks!
-
Done.
-
Bent v arsenal for me, I also liked Agbonlahor's against west ham, also downing v blackburn
-
Special mention to Downing against Burnley, doubt it'd get many votes, if any, but still a fantastic strike.
-
Albrighton vs fulham for me. Superb pass, excellent first touch and superb finish. I also say it's better than most of the goals on the Motd goal of the season thing last night.
Edit: I also think Bent's header agianst stoke should be in the poll, best header I've seen for a Villa goal for a long time.
-
Bent's vs Arsenal for me

Albrighton vs Manure

The problem with MOTD's Goal Of The Month / Season is that it almost always focuses on goals that are little more than a swing of a foot and a ball flashing past the keeper. I don't consider those great goals as there is so much fortune involved. You only have to look at how many long-distance shots end up going high or wide and not looking particularly handsome.
One of Berbatov's goals for ManUre struck me as being a great goal because of the pace at which the team moved the ball and he followed it. I always have and always will consider football to be a team sport and find the focusing on individuals as somewhat dull.
-
I voted for Downing because he was getting left out!
-
Albrighton at Fulham for me, that Bannan pass was immense.

I agree with this, I thought that Berbatov one should've got Goal of the season.

Not mentioned:
Ciaran Clark equaliser against Chelsea - not the eye-catching glory goal Sky/BBC/ESPN want to show on repeat, but with Villa staring defeat in the face, and the media/cockneys sure of victory, up comes Albrighton, swings in a beautiful cross for Clark to head in unopposed to silence the Stamford Bridge crowd.
Teamwork, technique and tenacity topped off with a simple header.
This goal, as easy as it was, gave us hope to survive in the Premier League and, more importantly, showed us the quality of our young squad and a glimpse of a future Villa - one who shows what can be done with a little belief.
-
What about Downing v Burnley in the League Cup?
-
And Heskey's late winner vs Wolves as well!
I second that definately, great header!!!!!
-
i want to vote for Hunt v Blackburn, or Pav v Bloooosers
probably the best goals of any season
-
Its crazy but i honestly cant remember Albrighton's vs Man Utd this season. If you asked me to describe any Villa goal from 1992-99 or so i could tell you about any of them in full detail. The last five years or so, while i remember a lot of the results and goalscorers, well i honestly cant remember how some of them went in - other than the obvious ones like Petrov at Derby, Ashley Young's at Blackburn 2007 and Gareth Barry vs Spurs 2006.
-
ah yes i remember now. a lot of our "highlights" this season are in this clip showing how much value Albrighton's been to the team this season.
-
Does the first goal here count?

I was at the Lions Club awards on saturday night and each group had to guess the top 3 chosen by Ian Taylor (who was there) from a select list (pretty close to the one on here actually). Anyway, he chose Bent's first at Arsenal as the best, i think.
-
Some great crosses on there, thanks for posting
-
I watched that vid before I voted to confirm that the bannan pass and albrighton first touch were as good as I remembered, if anything they were better, the touch in particular. If it'd have been in the camp nou featuring xavi and messi you wouldn't be suprised. That was the goal that made me realise just how special the 2 of them can be, if they've got the desire.
-
For me it's got to be Albrighton's against Fulham I also think the pass for the goal was pass of the season.
-
Albrighton v Fulham or Albrighton v ManUre for me.
The first was a fantastic pass, control & finish. The second was a result of slick passing.
-
I've gone for other.
I thought Downing against Man U was superb counte attacking football at its best.
And I thought Bents first against Arsenal was utter utter class.
On a different note - not talking Villa, I am talking the league as a whole, I think Freidals save on Sunday was save of the season, and one of the three best I have ever seen at Villa Park (Bozzie with his legs whilst flying through the air, and Jaaskalienan being the others , although you could have picked one of 20 he made that day !)
-
Bent's goal against Arsenal was a classic goalscorer's goal. But better than Petrov's effort at Sheffield United? Was it bollocks. This vote only serves to prove, once again, that democracy is a load of bollocks.
-
Different -
Better - who can say.
personally, I like skill rather than other things. That was unbelievably skilful last Saturday.
it's like saying which one is better - The Brazil 1970 goal, or Maradonas against England.
They are different, each to their own, but I prefer Bents - it oozed pure class.
