Title: Tonight's Boxing
Post by: PaulWinch again on May 21, 2011, 08:25:34 PM
Are people watching the boxing tonight?

I reckon Degale will beat Groves, even though I'd prefer Groves to win. I think his defence is far too open. As far as the Cleverly fight goes I think he'll win in about 8.

Watching it here. Nice performance from Billy Joe Saunders just.

He looked good, has he been injured? he hasn't really seemed to push on.

He had a problem with his hand last year.

Gavin's took a few with him. I expect the first wipethatsnot after 1:30.

Here you go lads. Fuck paying for this heap of shite.

What makes it laughable is that the Froch and Kessler super 6 fights are on Sky Sports! If I'd paid for this I'd be fuming.

p.s. funtime frankie is such a ******. 'Lurving curve'. Twat.

I've got to say the fiasco around this Cleverly fight sums up the problem with boxing at the moment.

I'm only watching for DeGale/Groves.

Hope the ginger guy batters him. You don't call a guy ugly. Below the belt.

Cleverly was hurt there.

Well that was a shambles, the lead up to the fight showed the problem with boxing and so did the end of the fight.

Khan mcCloskey all over again.

I hope noones paid for this!

At least McCloskey had a bad cut. Degale v Groves is going to have to be a classic now.
Title: Re: Tonight's Boxing
Post by: PaulWinch again on May 21, 2011, 10:17:31 PM
It was a terrible decision, but in that brief time Cleverly looked very vulnerable against a guy who had a day's notice.

Neither of the house fighters have done themselves any favours tonight.

True, but it was never a cut worthy of stopping a world title fight.

Look at it from McCloskeys POV. Pinnacle of his career for a shitty little cut. Outrageous decision.

If Cleverly doesnt win this on points I'll eat my hat.

And I've got money on Groves, just cause he sounds like a nice guy....

DeGale nowhere bear as comfy as he has been in the past. This will open up in another couple of rounds.

Entertaining fight thus far.

C'mon Georgie!

The worry here is that, despite landing some decent shots neither of them looks like having the power to get the knockout.  Think this will go the distance unless one of them tires badly.

Still not enough power from either of them, Groves on top, better tactically so far and if it gets messy in the last it'll probably suit Groves.

degale that round?  I'd say this is all down to who wins this last one now, too close to call.

No chance mate. It was a degale points win all night; groves had a crack but needed an early KO.

If I was George Groves, I'd demand ridiculous money for a rematch. He should be fighting for world titles now, not wasting his time with dickheads like deGale.

That was a much better fight than I expected. It was a really great tactical battle. Fair play to them both.

I still think Degale will go further; Groves just knows him too well.

That was never worth £15 though.

No generally never is, but it was more worth it than Haye vs Harrison and Khan vs McClosky(although obviously that ended a lot cheaper).

I agree, his tactics were odd for the fight. It'll be interesting to see where he goes from here. I've been critical of Adam Booth in the past, but he created a great gameplan for this fight.

I am sure McDonnell is a great amateur coach but he looked out of his league last night.
