I know that due to the debacle of the season just gone by it'd be hard to call it a lap of 'honour' but either way does anyone know if the team will be doing one on Sunday?
I was at the Blackburn game last season and due to us losing 1-0 I couldn't be arsed to wait around and got out pretty quickly - don't even know if we did one then, but I'd stick around if we did one this season.
Anyone know?
-
Isn't it called a lap of appreciation.
Whatever the result, I'll be walking up Trinity Road at the end of the day.

Probably.
We could just call it "going walkies" ?
-
They always do one.
Whether they put in a decent performance against Liverpool will probably decide whether I bother to stay behind or not.

They did do a lap of honour at the end although considering it was a pretty decent season last year i was still incredibly depressed as they trooped round the pitch cos we were awful vs Blackburn and they'd won the game despite being even worse than us. It was an atypical MON home performance lacking in plan B but there was a lot of cheer and support from the Holte to the boss. We knew his future was in doubt but i guess none of us would have predicted how things have gone since.
-
They will do a lap of honour. If they want us to wait in the stadium beyond 6.00 on a Sunday, with family to mind and work the next day, they must in the same spirit allow Warnock & Beye to walk with them and call back Ireland especially.
A great alternative would be announcing Ged is off into retirement and allowing us to wave off GMac, Isabel and him.
-
No thanks. Whatever the result on Sunday they have been an embarrassment to the great Claret and Blue heritage this season so I hope they f off off the pitch as soon as ref blows.
-
On occasions, the "trudge" round the pitch after the last game, is for the players to show their appreciation of the supporters. It is not always for the fans to acclaim the players.
-
Blues will be relegated - party.
-
If we can beat that lot at home for the first time in 14 attempts I will gladly stay behind and say "thanks lads".
-
I dont usually hang about afterwards these days. If Randy and The General came round Id consider it to say thanks for Darren Bent.
-
It's the chance for players to say thanks to us isn't it. In that case I think it's very important they do, considering some of the cack we've had to watch.

Me too and to the kids and to say tara to Ashley , Kyle and ? Nigel

Be interesting if any of the players likely to leave like Young throw their shirts into the holte. I'm sure Dunne will try but it will end up 40 yards behind him by the corner flag.
-
We could use Dunne's as a big flag for next season.
-
Dunne and Collins will be doing a crawl and have a fight half away around.
Young's shirt, like most of his free kicks this season, will end up near the back of the Holte
Look to see how many more kids Gabby brings out with him this season.
Much will be depend on the SH result for the general mood I feel.
-
Why do footballers bring out their kids for the lap of appreciation, what's the purpose?
-
I will be out of the ground pronto at the end of the game and doing a lap or two of The Bartons.
-
Everyone who stays (wont be too many) should turn there backs on them, because in truth they have mostly been an embarrasment to our club this season!
-
It's been a hugely dissapointing season but I would imagine wins for Villa and Spurs would make for quite a bubbly atmosphere in the ground at ten to six.
-
A pact: There is nothing to honour so disappear as quickly as possible after 90 minutes and we'll all be in the pub half-an-hour earlier than we need be.
-
Ive always seen it as players showing appreciation to the fans rather the other way round so ive no problem with it, cant stay though got to leave early
-
At least Sir Graham had the decency to pick up the mic and apologise for the season we endured under him second time round. I can't see that happening tomorrow somehow.

Turn you back on Bent? Downing? Albrighton? Friedel? Walker?
As I said before, it's nothing to do with us appreciating them, it's the other early around.
-
It's all a load of old conkers. I will be long gone.
-
They need to do it straight away without leaving the pitch. If they expect people to hang around for 15 minutes whilst they collect their various offspring, then they will be coming out to "appreciate" an empty stadium.
-

Maybe they think the fans will be more polite if there's kiddywinks with them.

Because it's nothing to do with them actually showing any real appreciation. On the whole, Premier League players couldn't give a toss about the fans and so this is nothing more than an out-dated relic from the pre-PL days and seeing as most clubs aren't ever going to win anything where they can take their kids onto the pitch at Wembley (which I also hate), they do the next best thing and this is it.
I stayed last year to see how the players and the fans behaved. Was pleasantly surprised to hear MON roundly chanted from the Holte and the wee man having a very pleasant conversation with Harewood, shaking his hand and wishing him well.
If I were there today, I'd probably stay around to keep an eye on Ash, Big Brad and a number of others and how they react.
-
Did they do a lap of whatever? I didn't stay to see that if they did.
-
Yep they did. A lot stayed to watch it as well. Man with a mic also said it's so as the players can show their appreciate of the fans for the support.
-
Alot more stayed than what I was expecting, think the whole day was fantastic and the blues result putting everybody into party mode may have helped.

The main reason was surely because most of us were waiting for the final whistle for the laughing at Blues part, so a lot of people decided to hang around.
-
anything interesting in lap of honour as I left to look at monitor to see if Small Heath go down or not.

Quite surprisingly a few of the players brought small children with them. Other than that you didn't miss anything
-
It was alright. I always thought Stilyan was quite a level-headed fellow so I was suprised to see him showing off a "FUCK OFF SMALL HEATH - THE CITY IS OURS" banner, but fair play to him. Gabby's kids outnumbered the players by five to one.
