Many happy memories. I remember SKY did a feature on him midway through 1994-95 season when he was in hot hot scoring form and he did said at the time that that 1st goal vs Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough gave him the most pleasure (although i think his second, the header he got that day is still the best headed goal i've ever seen) A true Villa legend.

Legend. Love him. You could always rely on Deano to put in a shift and nab a few goals. Those were the days.

I really hope Bent becomes a similar Holte End hero but he needs a foil. Maybe with Ash going we can get Defoe - I think those two would compliment each other.

I loved that time for us, dexy's Gino was sung by the Holte and we turned up every week thinking we would win every game and we almost did.

One quote Dean Saunders said after he joined us was 'Villa are bigger than Liverpool, they just don't know it'.  I've never been completely convinced that its true but it has always remained with me.

I loved his goal against Ipswich.

What a team we had then.

Like they did at Tottingham?

They both occupy the same space. Defoe is probably the more clinical finisher but Bent has the better movement.

If we're looking for players to work alongside the latter, we should be looking at either a CF or Fellaini/ Cahill type midfielder to hold it up, or a partner who can spot his runs and slide him through.

This is probably the wrong thread for that type of jazz, so I'll stop now.

Fantastic memories of his first home game against Liverpool. It had everything, two goals for Deano, Rozenthal's miss at The Holte End and Mark Walters doing a premature celebratory dance in front of us when they scored first. Then we went on that run where he and Dalian couldn't seem to stop scoring. It only started going a bit pear shaped when Dalian and Froggy got injured.

Happy days - and players with four legs by the looks of it!
