Title: 0% Villa (hopefully!) - Who's going down?
Post by: Concrete John on May 12, 2011, 03:03:04 PM
OK, I know we're not mathematically safe ourselves,  but barring some very strange results it's the 6 teams below us fighting to stay in the division.  So, who do you THINK will fail to beat the drop?

The poll allows up to three votes, so you can pick your bottom three clubs.  And to help, here is how they stand and the remaining fixtures:-

Blackburn (15th - 39 points and minus 14 GD)
Blackburn v Man Utd
Wolverhampton v Blackburn

Birmingham (16th - 39 points and minus 18 GD)
Birmingham v Fulham
Tottenham v Birmingham

Wolves (17th - 37 points and minus 21 GD)
Sunderland v Wolverhampton
Wolverhampton v Blackburn

Blackpool (18th - 36 points and minus 22 GD)
Blackpool v Bolton
Man Utd v Blackpool

Wigan (19th - 36 points and minus 23 GD)
Wigan v West Ham
Stoke v Wigan

West Ham (20th - 33 points and minus 23 GD)
Wigan v West Ham
West Ham v Sunderland

Personally, I think Blackburn, Blackpool and West Ham.

West Ham,Wigan and Blackpool, but i think the last place will go down to goal difference,so Blackburn and Wolves could easily go.

I think it's curtains for West ham and Blackpool.  Wigan and Wolves will be decided on GD and that favours Wolves at the moment.  If Wigan can put 3 past West ham this weekend it will be very close.  I have Wolves down to draw their last two games.

Blues however could be the saviours of both.

I think Blackburn are in greater trouble than it looks at first when you consider they have Man Utd next and then a last day game away to Wolves.  That could be winner stays up and it's concievable they won't get another point this season.

West Ham, Wigan and Blackpool.

IMO it is a shame Blackpool are going down though that is not a popular viewpoint on here.

Wigan will be playing Stoke after the cup final - probably best time as most of their players will have already started their holidays.  That and being at home to the shit West Ham side says to me they'll get enough points to survive.

I voted

West Ham, Blackpool & Blues, I don't actually think Blues will but I think its wishful thinking on my part

My dream scenario is Blues, Wolves and Blackburn taking it to the last day - and the latter two playing out the most half-arsed draw to guarantee a point (and survival) each.

Imagine the tears!

Blackpool can do one.  I'm not bothered about them, just that mouthy prick in the dugout.

I know this sounds like wishful thinking but think with Ridgewell and Gardner out. The scum will lose to Fulham and wont get anything at the spuds. So upto the others to get the points on the board or relegation is a massive reality .....

Bottom three as they currently for me - West Ham, Wigan, Blackpool. West Ham to go this weekend.

I can see
Blackburn getting 0 more points - finish on 39
Rags getting 0 more points - finish on 39
Wolves getting 4 more points - finish on 41
Blackpool getting 4 more points (unlikely draw at man U) - finish on 40 points
Wigan getting 6 more points - finish on 43
West Ham  getting 0 more points - finish on 33

West Ham, Blackpool and the Rags.

I did my BBC Predictor yesterday and had the Rags on the same points as Blackburn and Wigan. Blackburn had a better Goal Difference but Wigan and the Rags had the same GD. The good news is, the Rags are relegated as they scored less goals.

Now wouldn't that be fun..

Inbreeding?

If Blackpool don't drop I think it will be the first Prem Lge season when none of the promoted clubs have gone down AND none of the relegated clubs have come straight back up.
So that's them down then!

If inbreeding was a reason for being relegated, they'd have been relegated years ago.

Blackpool getting 3 more points (beat man U, lose to Bolton) - finish on 39 points
Wigan getting 3 more points - finish on 39
West Ham  getting 6 more points - finish on 39

Which would be very amusing especially if Blues ship a few to Fulham and Spurs...

That is true.

But you typed related instead of relegated, probably because you are posting from one of those newfangled gadgets while hopped up on dexys ya daft soul boy.

Perfect scenario?  Blues, Wolves and West Ham.  That then still leaves me with three easy to get to away fixtures.

In reality?  West Ham, Wigan and the loser of Wolves-Blackburn. Probably Rovers.

I have a sneaky feeling Blackpool will get 4 points, possibly even with a win at Old Trafford, and survive.

I hope we lose some local derbies. With our neighbours all being shite, it doesn't help that they are more up for our game than they are against anybody else. On that basis, I am goin for West Ham, Wolves and Blues.

It wouldn't redeem the season, but Blues being relegated might make it end on a positive note for me.

Agreed. It's been a wretched season and I think we'll probably lose the next 2 games as well, but SHA going down would give us something to smile about.

Blackburn, Blackpool and West Ham

I can see Blues drawing at home to Fulham.
Title: Re: 0% Villa (hopefully!) - Who's going down?

Blues 42
Wolves 40
Blackburn 39
Wigan 38
Blackpool 37
West Ham 37

Obviously it would be great to see the noses go down (again), but even if they don't beat Fulham I reckon that the Wigan-West Ham and Wolves-Blackburn games where someone has to drop points will save them.

I've got it as west ham, blackpool and wolves (with blues escaping by 1 point).

But then I think we're going to beat arsenal so my opinion is clearly not all that valuable right now... wish I could say it was the drink.

It would be superb to see Blose go down with West Ham and Blackburn joining them.

This weekends predictions:

Blackburn and Blose to both lose 2-1

Blackpool to win 3 - 1

Wolves, West Ham and Wigan all to draw.

Thus leaving the table:

Blackburn - 39. GD -15
Blose - 39 GD -19
Blackpool - 39 GD - 20
Wolves - 38 GD - 21
Wigan - 37 GD -23
West Ham 34 (and down) GD - 23

Next weekend.

Blose to lose 3-1
Wolves to beat Blackburn 2 -1
Blackpool to draw 2-2 with Man U.
Wigan to beat Stoke 2 - 1
West Ham who cares!

End of season table:

Wolves - 41
Blackpool - 40
Wigan - 40
_________________
Blackburn - 39
Blose - 39
West Ham (who cares)
