Now you've told us Nige, its time to show us. I'm glad we've got someone showing a bit of fight, I'm nervous about the game on Sunday. I'm going to try and alleviate it by necking several pints of beer before the match.

I thought it was a good interview and told me something about NRC that I hadn't realised - how focused and determined he is about playing for the club.
Also great to read about a senior player appreciating the fitness and training regime and fighting to ensure survival in the PL this season. Go Nigel!
-
In fairness he has always come across as thoughtful, professional and dedicated in his interviews. First time I've heard him talk in the press in a long time. Sadly, he needs to be playing regularly for the forseeable future and I don't think he's quite good enough for where we want to be. Not as a first choice anyway. Certainly not as a first choice looking to increase his current wage by anything like 50% or more.

and there's another one in The Mirror today
http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Exclusive-Nigel-Reo-Coker-wants-to-repay-Gerard-Houllier-s-faith-in-him-by-helping-Aston-Villa-avoid-relegation-article721347.html
with a little timebomb in the middle, Mirror-style ('he is plotting his escape' - just read that in the context of the rest of the article - does not fit)
But the rest is very positive and reflects a completely professional player - and one I have to say that I have always liked as a member of our squad and of the club.

And here's the version in The Sun. It's dreadful. You've been warned...
NRC still just about comes out v well. The article is complete rubbish though.
-
presumably he gave the same comments in a press conference to a number of journalists.
but googling b'ham Mail did not report this.
I'm a bit puzzled. Why not? It's the home paper after all.
Neither did the Daily Mail.
but the Express came up with this-
http://www.express.co.uk/football/view/239624/Aston-Villa-s-Nigel-Reo-Coker-up-for-fight
got to say I am fascinated by this little trawl through the print
but I'm glad I don't have a job keeping track of a concern in the media as a whole, day by day. It would be mind - numbing. And I've just done a few newspapers.
-
Even though NRC is a bit limited as a player he is a very thoughtful and intelligent guy who will always give 100%. Exactly the type of player we need right now.
I hope he stays and flourishes at Villa.
-
Only in football could a man of 26 look on others as the "younger generation".
-
I enjoyed reading the NRC article i think he wears his heart on his sleeve i for one would like him to stay and put pen to paper on a new deal.
-
I hope he signs up again, and though this season has been a disaster,he won't get a chance to play for a bigger club than us.
-
I've always liked NRC. Not always been the greatest, but always puts the work in.
-
I like him. He deserved more of a chance than he got under 13 players O'Neill.
If his demands are sensible and he doesn't mind not playing every week then I wouldn't be adverse to him staying. He's a useful kind of player to have around despite his limitations. I'm actually not surprised that a few big European clubs are after him.
He shows the right spirit, he is the right kind of player for our situation and for my money he is a much better and more deserving leader than our current captain.

It could be that he did the interview with one journo, who shared the quotes with the rest. The papers that didn't run the story had others to fill the space.

Seems a decent enough bloke. Shit footballer though.
