Title: Indian Premier League 2011
Post by: cdbearsfan on April 08, 2011, 03:28:20 PM
Starting now on ITV4. Who do you support? I'm backing the Ahmedabad Mega Bastards.

RCB are the team I drew out of the hat to support. Decent side too.

I'm off to Bangalore on the 23rd April, for a month - work.

So, support your local team, it's the Royal Challengers Bangalore for me.

Although not a great fan of 20/20, it should be interesting to get a couple of games in over there.

English (ahem) interest Eoin Morgan is now at the crease. Should be a good finish this.

I'm a Kings XI Punjab fan. Based on the fact I've visited the Punjab and, like the rest of India, the people there are absolutely mental .

One of the new teams, Pune Warriors, has Dermot Reeve as assistant coach. As a fan of Warwickshire and narcotics I'm supporting them.

I don't have any particular affinity with any of the sides so I've gone for a squad with several of my favorite players in. I now feel like an 8 year old in Surrey trying to choose between Manure, Chelski et al!

So I'm now a Mumbai Indian; Tendulkar, Dilhara Fernando, Habhajan Singh, Lasith Malinga, Kieron Pollard and the flawed genius that is Andrew Symonds.

Can't find Frank Lampard and Wayne Rooney in any of the squads though?

They'll do for me then.

Pune says vaguely like it might be a rude Indian word for something as well.

Malinga 5 - 13 off 3.4 overs for Mumbai v Delhi Daredevils. He has to be one of the best one day bowlers around. His yorker is at times unplayable.

I like it, there my team too... I always loved watching Dermot play

Great insights from Hick:

Host: Graeme, you saw last year's Kings XI Punjab v Chennai Super Kings match, which went to a super over. You covered it, sensational wasn't it?

Hick: Yes I covered it but didn't remember it until you just showed it.

He's only been on 15 mins and that's the second time that he's said that he didn't remember something that the host was trying to hype.

Chennai Super Kings 0 for 2, off the first 2 balls!

Support Rajahstan Royals - for no reason other than their colours were a bit like Warwickshire (who's colours have since changed).

Pune Warriors won the toss against Mumbai Indians, chose to bat and are 18 for 4 inside 5 overs! Ryder, Paine & Yuvraj back in the hutch.

Chris Gayle has joined RCB - should be some big hitting I'd hope.

Bazz, are you watching Punjab v Rajasthan? Absolute carnage! Two wickets, both not out as no balls. Fastest team to 50 runs (3 overs) in IPL history and Punjab are on course for well over 300, if they maintain their crazy runrate (17)...

Bollocks - I was going to watch it but I ended up taking the dog for a walk instead and then forgot it was on.

First game in and he has already hit the longest 6 of the IPL so far (101 metres)

Then he hits one 104 metres a couple of overs later.

In fact he now has 3 of the 5 longest sixes in the tournament so far!
