Great to see the club and it's individuals still paying attention these sorts of causes after cutting Acorns from being our shirt sponsor.
Couldn't quite seeing Ashley Young doing this, but still; well done Gabby.
-
Well done, indeed. The lad really is a credit to the club as well as himself. The comments from the Ward Manager really made me realise just how special Gabby's effort and donation mean to them all.
-
Well done Gabby
-
Saw this on Central News at 6 pm (couldn't find a link).
I felt very proud of Gabby. He seemed very sincere about his donation to the cause.
Well done.
-
Well done Gabby, not all footballers are greedy self centred little twats. Hope this set's a trend to all footballers out there...
-
Good lad is our Gabby.
-
Great work Gabby, it's nice to know not all footballers are arseholes
Good example to others and long may Gabby wear the famous claret and blue
-
Well done Gabby Gabby Gabby.
-
Good to see that not all footballers are pratts, well done indeed Gabby!
-
How bloody refreshing, particularly after the snenanigans of last week
-
I misread that as "Gabby donates children to Birmingham hospital."

haha, very good, BE, very good indeed.
-
Gabby Ag-bon-la-hooor, he donates moreeeee, he donates more and moreeee, doubt it'll catch on but well done indeed Gabby
-
Bless you Gabby, well done.
-
Nice one Gabby, it's good to see. Well done.
-
Fair play Gab,
I'd love to know how much he's given but thats just because I'm a nosey bastard!
-
Well done Gabby really top bloke is our Gabby it's nice to know there are footballers with a heart of gold out there.
-
How refreshing is that? He doesn't usually interview too well on camera but he looked really relaxed and comfortable with the kids and parents - genuinely enjoying that side of his life. Well done Gabby.
-
Good lad.
A nice bright story amongst all the disasterous shit that's been coming out of the club lately.
-
Top lad Gabby.
-
It's good that the kids coming through the academy have this to look to as an example.

Hopefully it will just be his charitable side that the kids emulate, not his ability to have a stable of women with fannies like a plasterers radio.

Couldn't quite seeing Ashley Young doing this
Why not ?

Why not ?
To be fair to Ash he was in the footage of a recent trip to Acorns.
-
It's the fact this is a personal donation that makes it so nice and not just handing over a cheque raised by the club or another source. They were talking about buying equipment so must have been a substantial ammount.Very refreshing.
-
I don't think the amount Gabby donated should be disclosed. It was a private thing for him to do and good on him for doing it.
-
Nice one Gabby
-
Good on him - shame that the tabloids don't make as much of these sort of stories
Well Done Gabby
-
Talk of a six figure fee in the Mirror.
Respect to that young man.
-
Well into six figures apparently.
Possibly a month's wages which is a fantastic amount of money for him to donate.
Fair play Gabby. Wish we had 10 others like you in our team.

In our team? Not sure about that. I like Gabby & this donation is very impressive.
I think the sooner this season is over for Gabby (and the rest of us) the better.

Well Done Gabby
To be fair, neither do we. This thread has no chance of making as many pages as the Dunne/Collins thread.
Anyway, well done Gabby. A credit to your club and your city.
-
Well played to Gabby, that's a lovely gesture.
-
Well done Gabby, he's a credit to the club.
-
Excellent , that was great to see... Well done Gabby , full respect ...
-
Nice one Gabby. I'm actually quite proud that a local lad playing for us does this kind of kind.
And in fairness, a lot of players give up a lot of their own time etc for local causes. It's just that we rarely hear about it. Fat Baz for example often went to schools etc and not just in the immediate area. He paid a visit to a school over Stratford way a few years ago and the only way I knew of it was a friend of my best mates wife was a teacher there. She got him to sign a shirt for me, and he was a big hit when he was there..
-
A fantastic gesture? For sure. But I don't really like hearing about the charitable deeds of extremely wealthy individuals. It undermines what ordinary people do day-in, day-out. In terms of disposable income, is Gabby giving £100,000 to charity really more generous than an OAP putting £10 of her state pension into a collection tin?
-
How many other 'extremely wealthy individuals' on a similar level do similar? Good on him, I say.
-
Fair enough but there can't be many kids his age prepared to give away a couple of weeks' wages to charity. And there is also that inverse relationship between wealth and donations to charity so he's against the grain on that count too. It doesn't make him super human but fair play to him, I'm proud of the lad.
-
The video is well worth watching. He looks like he genuinely wants to be there. He didn't need to do it. Great gesture.
-
Top video showing a very Top gesture.
Nice one Gabby, and nice for Villa to have some positive news.
Out of interest, is there an official H&V charity?
-
Good question. I'd suggest acorns.
-
Good stuff. Well played.
-
Excellent. It's not common enough to see footballers making these sorts of gestures. They have more money than they know what to do with, so giving some to the community is a good thing.
-
Well done Gabbs.

Does it matter how much was donated? It's a very kind gesture, that's all.

It's not the amount, it's the necessity to go public about it - and in doing so giving the impression that somehow if you are in a fortunate position to give a large amount of money, somehow your charitable giving is more worthy than other people's.
I don't know Gabby, but I get the impression that this gesture is genuine and heartfelt. But equally, there will be thousands of people up and down the country giving and fun raising for their local hospital. They are not in the fortunate position to give six-figure sums or have regular weekday afternoons off to visit the wards, but that doesn't mean that their efforts aren't equally genuine and heartfelt.
-
I'm sure the hospital are glad of the raised awareness that this publicity brings and will be hoping that it helps attract other donors.
-
Fantastic gesture. Really hope Gabby can find some form and stay with Villa for years. Top man ............
-
I always like to see this kind of stuff. I've worked at a hospital for years and I can't tell you how happy it makes some people to take their mind off their treatment even if it's only a few minutes. The money's fantastic and I hope the hospital do loads with it, but coming and giving up his time like that, making the kids and the staff happy, is priceless.

Maybe he did it anonymously and the story got out. It's hard to keep something like that quiet.

Nice one Gabby. Our players are so lovely aren't they? I really enjoy watching the players' regular trips to Acorns.
