Henry Winter: Premier League's elite plan radical overhaul of academy system to help top schoolboy talent

It sounds as if the big clubs get priority access to the best prospects which is just going to increase the gap between them and everyone else. A typical Scudamore "make the rich richer and screw the poor" idea.
-
First thought was outrage at the further cementing the gap between the Chumps League crew and the rest.
Second thought was that they probably get first go at most of the young talent anyway.
Third thought was back to my first, and a feeling that it Scudamore suggested eating chips and curry was a good idea, I'd probably stop. Reluctantly. Probably.

Friends of my mum have a child who trains with Chelsea and they are wanting to sign him up to their Academy but he wants to continue playing with his school mates in the junior team he plays for each week which Chelsea won't allow so they have said no to them.
They are QPR supporters and they are now keen to sign him so I guess that will test their resolve.

sound like more pie in the sky ideas from scudamore, intended to keep the status quo as it is, so he can and i quote, "sell the premier league product to the far east"...
that disgusting little man is a parasite, and i wish he would just fuck off...

I'm going rapidly off football at the moment. All that is ever talked about is money, how much is being spent/lost, clubs going under, outrageous ticket prices and full-on ****** representing England.
I'm going to see Leicester Tigers play London Irish in a couple of months, with a ticket for the terracing, the train journey and a couple of quid for some grub I'll have spent £40. That's the price of the ticket alone at the football, its got beyond silly. The average age of a supporter is 43, the younger supporters are priced out of the sport. I'm just surprised other sports haven't made that much of a play to win them round.

When I read that, all I heard was mumbling. Are you OK Chris?

You then find a messy link to the Telegraph website. So I'm still none the wiser to what it's all about.

Everton have even begun sending coaches into primary schools.
Haven't clubs been doing that for a while now?
-
One of the children in my school team trains with and plays for Aston Villa U-9s and U-10s. He is encouraged to still play for his school.

Some of us would appreciate proper keywords in the title. It is bad enough not having a life and spendings hours on here without going into threads that are potentially uninteresting.

Having read what I wrote I can appreciate why you were concerned, thanks Damon.

*shrugs*
Not having a life and spending hours on here always ends up with you going onto threads that you usually wouldn't anyway, when you've read everything else and there are no updates.

Once that the problem that Dave Jones once had?
... tasteless and unnecessary, I know.

Haven't Liverpool just waltzed into QPR and taken one of their young talents. According to radio 5 yesterday he was to be in their squad last night. He's only 16.
Chelsea will probably do the same, let QPR nurture him and as soon as he's ready they'll nab him.

But how many times on here have we denigrated the state of English football, and our player's relative technique, and then elevated the status of Ajax, Barcelona, and various other overseas team's academies as examples of how we should be running something similar?
if a kid at say Barnet is top notch then surely it is in his, England's, and the game's interests to see him at one of the top clubs as soon as possible?
