Anyone else pleasantly surprised by what we've seen from him so far?
Must say I was expecting a car crash straight from the Glen Johnson defensive manual but he's generally been o.k in the games I've seen in that respect.
Obviously knows how to get forward although he does have the infuriating tendency to have a good 40 yard run down the wing and then mess it all up by skying the ball into the stands when he crosses.
Still if Spurs only want 5m for him, I'd pay it as he can only improve. Thank Luke Young for his service and let him go back to London, have Lichaj as back up and I'd be quite happy to go with that for next season.
-
A very exciting prospect, raw talent, i really like him
-
I think he has been exellent. I can't see Spudz only looking for 5 million for him though. Double that more like.
If so, snap him up.

If Spurs want any more than £5m tell them to take him back.........You cant be serious about paying £10m for him
-
I suppose what could help us is Spurs have Hutton or Corluka in that position. If they want to keep Walker, then sign either of them.
-
Spurs have Kyle Naughton aswell, who is supposed to be better than Walker, so it is actually possible they let him go.

Can you see them only wanting 5 mill for him ?
The usually ask for and get top dollar for anyone the are selling. Cute feckers them lot.
I'd be delighted if they only want 5 mill for him but I doubt it. His call up for England wont help.
-
If they want more than 5m I think we should look elsewhere. Still not sure of him defensively.
-
He's our most exciting player, which says alot for a rookie right back

He is the only young lad getting a look in at the moment. Fonz, Bannan, Delph and Albrighton are all exciting but are no where to be seen.

This, +1, Like etc

Agree. I'd like to see Albrighton and Bannan get a go as well though I can see the logic of Hotlips not wanting to risk Albrighton in front of a marauding full back like Walker.
-
Whatever goes behind the scenes, sign him, sigh him.
-
The jury is out. Love him when he goes forward (until he tries to cross) but has a lot to learn defensively. Overall I'd probably say he'll make it but time will tell.
-
Not suprised at all. Shame we didnt sort a permanent deal at the end of loan when we got him. Time on his side and plenty of potential.
-
I can see him playing in midfield, out wide in the future. He can beat a player, and runs at goal as good as anyone I have seen in a Villa shirt this season. His defending has been a bit suspect once or twice but he is young and will improve. His best attribute imo is being on the ball and going forward. If Spuds will sell we should buy. Hopefully they are in a hurry for Chumps League perfection and to fund that they may need to sell one or two 'maybe' players. He fits in well with our new, young generation. I would risk more than 5m but less than 10m. But as I earn under 25k a year it definately is not my money! Might make my season ticket go up mind. Sod it, 5m and no more!

Couldn't agree more - come on GH play our young guns. It would be great if we could sign Walker but I don't think Spurs will let this happen. If the shoe was on the other foot would we?
-
His defensive issues will only be highlighted with tough-tackling Downing on front of him. Albrighton won't be much better. That side of the pitch is awfully exposed at the moment.
-
I really like him, raw talent as others have already said but he's certainly got plenty of ability and seems to have a good work ethic too
-
I just hope we sign him up in the summer come on GH let's get him on board full time.
-
Great going forward. Seems to take the game by the scruff of the neck.
Defensively, not as good. Was beaten easily on two occasions at Blackpool. I think Collins and Dunne gave him an ear bashing the second time.
-

Kyle Walker AND Kyle Naughton. FFS what happened to Harry & Bert? Or Charlie or ken?
-
We have a surfeit of attacking option at the moment. What we need is defenders who can defend.
-

Went off with Barbie and Cindy !
Kyle Walker - looks like the best right back we've had since Delaney.

Looks more like Gabby than Delaney if you ask me. Twin brothers I reckon.

Not for Sale according to Harry

We know what Harry says.

What does Kyle say?
My thoght exactly.Maybe he won't want to fight for a place. When he could be a nailed on starter
-
I wouldn't believe a word 'Arry says and in any case, that's exactly what you'd expect him to say to push the price up.
-

Indeed. Barrow boy.
-
we should be listening to what the lad says himself
if he wants return to spurs and fight for his place, then we should be looking at eric lhajd to gain experince of playing right back at premiership club after loan deal over at leeds
-
From what I hear he wants to sign for us, Its ok Harry saying no but if he puts in a transfer request then he'll have to sell.
-
Aren't all Spurs player purchases, sales and negotiations conducted by Daniel Levy anyway? I'm not sure how much input Redknapp has into these things, but from reading about the situation he could be little more than a mouthpiece. If someone offers an acceptable amount of money and the player wants to leave, he'll go.
-
This is why I hate loaning players from ''bigger'' teams, in this case sodding Tottenham. We blood one of their young prospects giving him invaluable experience at the top level and pay his wages. He goes back to them worth considerably more and in good form. Win-win for them.

Unless of course he signs for us.
-
Redknapp made it quite clear when he joined that it was to gain premier experience , never any mention of it becoming permanent- it's been a good deal for both clubs and we have both benefited from walker being here.
I fully expect him to be spurs first choice right back next season , but I would love to sign him, it would take a huge offer to even tempt them though unless we did a deal involving ash in exchange for walker plus a bit of cash our way too- can't see much chance of spurs selling though- worth a try though.
-
Arry could be England boss by then anyway or in prison.
-
Spurs have Hutton or Corluka there aswell who are both decent enough so if Walker goes back, I wouldn't mind us bidding for either of them.
-
Yes I'd take Hutton or corluka and I reckon one of them will be available.

Id go for Nathaniel Clyne @ Palace, young and a U/21 International
-
I was very impressed by clyne last season when we played them in the cup, not heard much about him this season though and a bit surprised warnock never took him to qpr with him.
-
We know what Harry says.
What does Kyle say?
"I should be so lucky"
-
Bing bong! Calling Maz to the thread for another 'Arry Redknapp quote....
"Yeeaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh..... well, I likes the boy, Daniel likes the boy, eee's gonna be the England right-back fer years 'an that but then if Villa cam in wiv summink big then we might sell the lad but at the mo they're ain't nuffink 'appening... hang on, me phone...... hello? Is that you, Cafu? Wait a sec........"
-
Corluka Maybe.
Hutton No
-
A few things here
1. There is a very BIG chance Harry will not be the Spurs manager come July.
a) People forget he is still under investigation for tax evasion. I think his court case is June, if found guilty, he would have to resign (in fact , I cant imagine the FA / Premier allowing him to manage)
b) If he is found innocent, he will probably take up the England job shortly. I reckon thats all the FA are waiting for (the verdict)
c) If by the chance Harry is Spurs manager, it is apparent he wants Ash - no better bargaining tool is there !
However, if by the chance we can't get Kyle, I'd go for Micah Richards. People forget how young he is !
-
micah richards was quoted at £25m in january , no chance of getting him at that price , and capello isnt going till 2012 so harry will be at spurs another year , cant see him being found guilty .
I'd be inclined to say there's a slim chance he won't be manager rather than a very big chance.
-

Or you could look for the positive which is we've had him as a decent stop gap for half a season so the gaffer can find a quality right back to sign in the summer.
-
This could be the start of the joustling over Ashley Young in the summer. Walker plus cash would be nice. Young is a good player to be letting go, but we need to move on. Albrighton will fill his boots just fine.
-
I can't see 'arry wanting young in the summer. He's just picked up piennar for £3 so I doubt he'll want another left winger with Bale and Kranjar also in the squad.
-
Walker, Kranjar and £5m and they've got themselves a deal in my book
-

The way Pienaar has played for them so far he might have been a bit dear at that price.
I reckon Bale will go to someone bigger and Kranjcar will leave. That leaves an opening for Ash...
-
Why can't we make a straight cash offer?
I don't see why Ashley should be part of any deal, unless he's desperate to go there.
-
As much as I like Walker, and of course Redknapp talks a lot of shit, if we arent going to sign him full time at the end of the season, and he is just here on loan, getting experience, id be inclined not to play him at all. Id rather play Lichaj for the rest of the season, despite him not being as good. Id rather be improving our own youngster by giving him games and experience than doing Spurs any favours.
-
Adam matthews is out of contract at the end of the season. Very good young full back.
-
Glasses , we are in a relegation scrap and walker is helping our cause a great deal right now, the loan is doing both clubs a favour and I'd far rather walker help keep us up than throw lichaj in at this stage.
-
Lichaj is a decent right-back though. Kept the famous Gareth Bale very quiet.
I personally really like Kyle Walker. He's the type of right-back we've needed for a while. Adventurous, quick and gives us really good transition from defence into attack.
I think Redknapp should just keep quiet for once. Since when did he decide he wanted Walker back? Spurs have even a bigger conumdrum than us in the right-back position. I can see Kyle unfortunately having to waste atleast another season before enough is enough and Redknapp has to decide whether he wants him or not. Prime example is Jamie O'Hara. How they treat him is disgusting.
-
Redknapp said on the day he joined us that walker was here for premier experience only and would be going back to spurs- he's not suddenly just realised he's a decent player- I'm thankful for them loaning him to us as it helps us out of a mess.
It's no different to us loaning Blackpool bannan last season for experience , they just want to see him get a run in the premiership. I too would love walker permanently but I fully understand why spurs would want to keep him.

Do you think it's fair if he finds himself in the same situation as Jamie O'Hara? Never play him but don't want to sell him?

Disgusting?
We do much the same thing we have done with most of our young players. Look at how we have treated Lichaj!
-
Most big clubs send out young players to gain experience - it's nothing new and I don't see it as disgusting treatment in any way whatsoever. It's usually a situation that benefits both clubs and the player involved rather than sitting in the reserves .
-
Loaning players out is fine but at some point they will just run down their contracts.
I have no idea how long o'hara's contract was initially but with a year at spurs, one at Pompey and now at Bolton(?) he must be close to being a free transfer whereby he'll have all the leverage to negotiate a good deal for himself.
I'm not too worried about 'Arry's comments. They have 4 right backs so I can see one leaving. I also think Houllier should be able to identify an equally good alternative without having to pay stupid money (Kelly at Liverpool?).
-
Jamie O'Hara is like 24, it's the sort of age where you're not a youngster anymore being loaned out all the time to get experience, you want to be playing football regulary. What is Spurs' proposal? Keep loaning him out for the rest of his career?
I hope it doesn't happen but I fear Kyle Walker might find himself in that unfair position and it'll come to a point (like with O'Hara) where you either want him or don't want him. He's not a prized asset, he's a football player.
-
This could be the start of the joustling over Ashley Young in the summer.
The same thought crossed my mind when we got Walker. It is strange for a club to re-call a player from loan then send him elsewhere in the same season. The fact that the club Harry has loaned him to has got an undecided Ashley Young on their books could well point to Redknapp offering us a deal over the summer.
-
Walkers loan was until new year and he wasn't recalled as such -but I wouldn't be surprised if harry does fancy young, watching Chelsea last night it was clear they desperately need a wide man of youngs quality and I reckon man u may be after him too- he will Not be short of offers I imagine.
-
I'm worried QPR might start a bidding war. When they get promoted they might start spending ridiculous amounts. Even if Spurs are willing to let him go, and he wants to go to Villa... Tottenham won't be too keen to let him go for, say, £8 million if QPR are offering £15 million.
-
He is fucking off in the summer. I am pretty confident of that. To Muppet Land for further details when work is done, and I have sobered up, ready for verbose arguments Tuesday!
-
Fucking off from Villa or fucking off from Spurs?
-

Bale left wing, VdV in the hole. When both are fit, Young wouldn't get in their team so I actually don't see him going Spurs as a serious option anymore.
-
I think Spurs will sell Bale for big money in the summer - fits in with their business model of buying young players and selling on for a profit.
If we can get Walker out of it, i can see us preferring to do a deal with Spurs for Young rather than Man Utd.
-
I think (just my opinion) that Martin Kelly @ Liverpool is a better all round player than Kyle
-
Martin Kelly will probably be Liverpool's right back for years to come though.

Agreed he is much better than Johnson

He's tweeted that England have released him because he is injured. Not sure if he will make it for the Everton game.

what is the world coming to
-
I think Glen Johnson will go to Spurs in the summer, leaving Walker to come to us, or go the other way as part of the deal.
-
I think Spurs will be involved in some big money moves this summer.
Bale could go, Modric could go, VDV could go.
I think Harry will sell Defoe, Palacios & Pavlyuchenko.

Assuming Harry is still there and not in Pentonville nick. Isn't his trial this summer?
-
Aren't they trying to get the case thrown out still ?

How long will he be injured for?

Injured ? .............recall Eric Lichaj or will Charlie Aitken get a game at Goodison !
