What's Villa's biggest ever home attendance?
My old man says we played Derby and got 76,000 but I can't find it in the Villa record book. *Edit* I've just seen it was when the war was on.
Biggest I've seen in the book was 75,540 against Man C in 1938 in the FA Cup.
What is our highest league attendance?
Plus what is the biggest home attendance you have been a part of? Mine might be Villa v Liverpool last day of the Holte.

Sky Sports says 76,588 v Derby (FA Cup 6th Round) March 2, 1946

It's the Derby game.
-
It was Derby in the 1946 FA Cup quarter final 1st leg, in the only year that the FA Cup was played over two legs.

I can remember being in a crowd of about 63,000 for an FA cup game against Southampton.
And a FA semi-final at Villa Park - Man City v Everton - about 65,000 in those days we had a section for Villa fans at semis. Lower Trinity standing area.

How many were at the Santos game in 72? My dad has always said he thought there must of been 60k+ there even though the capacity wasn't that high, and thousands were still outside because it wasn't safe to let anymore in?

Yeah our record attendance was 76000 against Derby in FA cup. Does anyone remember the game against west brom at villa park the year we won the league? Officially there were 48000 there, but I know I didn't pay to get in. Went under the turnstile. It was well packed, and albion brought a good few thousand too.

Sorry the gate that night was 47,988 well that’s what Villa say I think more like 50,000.
I was in the holte and could not move.

My Dad used to talk about being at the 1946 Derby game, I have the programme for it.
Biggest Ive been in at VP was the 62,500 for Man U semi 1970/71.
The Santos game from memory was about 57,000, and the Southampton 1969 cup game mentioned was about 59,000.
If you want really big Villa crowds ( not at VP admittedly), how about the 100,000 we used to get regularly for our league cup finals in the 1970s.
Also, we used to take this old fella to the games who had gone to the 1905 FA cup final. Official attendance 101,117, not including the ones you can see in the trees !
