Who'd be up for another H&V gig? Barton's again, but on a smaller scale this time - maybe just having the ska band who supported last time as headliners and £5 admission.
This is them:

-
Yes for me, 4 of us.
-
Sounds good whens it likely to be?

Sounds good whens it likely to be?
Ideally at the end of the season - maybe 20th May before we play Liverpool.
-
I might be interested. :D
-
I'm interested.
-
Yes.
-
If I'm still in the UK I'll be up for it.
-
20th would be good. The week after is just before whit week school holiday (and I'll be off on holiday).
-
I'd be up for that.
-
Me too i'm up for it.
-
Yes, as long as they turn the bloody volume down.
-
Maybe, as long as I can pretend to be somebody else.
-
Oh go on then, you've twisted my arm. That'll be two of us, may be three.
-
Provisionally sounds good to me Dave
-
Sounds good Dave.
-
I'm sure i could talk the other three I sit with into it.
-
I couldn't make the last one but would love to get to it this time round....
-
Yes, as long as they turn the bloody volume down.
Pardon? ;-)
-
Can we have a quiz that is actually possible if your name's not Woodhall this time?

Is that 'Woodhall' spelt H-A-R-V-E-Y-G-O-L-D-S-M-I-T-H ?

Is there camping in the car park?
-
Is there camping in the car park?
No. Just dogging.
-
Is there camping in the car park?
No. Just dogging.
So if I go out there I'll see you hanging out the back of it?
-
Only if Redknapp hasn't got there first.
-
Yeah, good plan.
The gig that is, not the dogging.
-
Would like to make it and put a few faces to the names on here. I'll have to see if I can get the time off work though.
-
I'm over for the Stoke game. Will probably hit the Barton's again. Nothing to do with the gig but hey ho!
-
I'd appreciate details Dave as I would like to be there. Let me know if you need a deaf sound engineer.
-
The Barton's is out. Anyone else know a reasonably accessible venue?
-
Function room at the Drake's Drum?
-
Would the powers that be at Villa Park provide a venue at a reasonable cost for H&V's association with the Club?
-
Ask Nicola Keye.

Can we ban CDVillafan for having a wanky signature? OT I know. But vital.
-
Red Lion at Hockley have a room upstairs, might be worth checking.
The Manager at the Bartons (Buster Bloodvessel) wants £350 for the room there, despite the fact we had it free last time.
His lovely comment was
'Well it's up to you, take it or leave it, you'd pay a grand normally for a room like that.'
Not for a rapidly sliding pub in the middle of Newtown you wouldn't.
On the subject of the Bartons, they've hiked the beer up 15p a pint.
Somewhat of a piss take I reckon.
-
Rapidly sliding? Tell us more.
-
Rapidly sliding? Tell us more.
This Gaffer seems more than happy to let the flotsam and jetsam of the Newtown social scene in there, something that was curtailed before.
A big thanks to the person I was drinking with, who lured one of them over, fucking mentalist who kept making whooping noises and said his name was Scooby Doo.
-
How is Stuart, by the way?
-
He only wanted £250, or £150 for an evening. Bargain.

You'd think he makes enough money from his Bad Manners tribute act.
He's not keen on me, one post match they were short of staff (again) and I told him
'Go and call Lorraine, Lorraine, Lorraine, Lorraine.'

I'm bored of it myself already. Changed.

On Friday 20th May. Tickets will be £5 and on sale soon.

Looks good to me. I will probably take 4 tickets (Is it ok if one is for a Baggies fan or am I banned for asking?).
-
I could have got you Poppy Red and a barrel of Wanky's Olde Whatsit for free.

Stripey lucre is as good as normal people's.

Sounds good to me.

5 mins from where I work (result!). Not that I've actually ever been in there, but I think that's going to be put right in the next couple of weeks (just for research purposes you understand).
-
I like the Red Lion, not as good as the Lord Clifden but still the same great selection of beers. I might even pop in there tonight to see what it's like these days.

I always think the Clifden tries to be a bit too Camden. The Red Lion is a proper pub.

I like Camden. But I know what you're getting at. Even so, the Clifden is my current favourite pub in town and I'm sure I'll finish up there tonight and will more than likely leave at silly o'clock.
-
The Lord Clifden is very good and has the most pleasant beer garden in Birmingham... although my mate reckons they've done it up so maybe not anymore?
-
Red Lion is very nice, they do Bathams as well although it is over £3 a pint.
-
I've noticed that CAMRA pubs nearly always seem to be expensive.

To keep the Carling swilling riff-raff out naturally.

I think I saw you in there! we headed out tonight with the intention of going to the Red Lion, but after a pint in the Wellington and some damned fine scoff here http://www.syrianarestaurant.co.uk/ we only got as far as the Lord Clifden before heading for home.
-
Exam period for me, so doubt I'll be able to make it. But good luck.
-
Is The Red Lion a gay bar? or not classed as such since there are so many gays locally already?
The chip butty at the Lord Clifden (practically across the road from where I live) is fabulous.
-

Apart from the obvious ones down Hurst Street are there actually any "Gay Bars" in Brum?
I's probably just classed as 'gay friendly' by the community, as in, they won't get hassled if they go there.

Mine ordered. Do they sell Bathams? Haven't tried it yet.

Its only for grown-ups Morrissey-you wouldn't like it. I will be going with my Dad-so that's OK. :)
-
We're going to sit Morrissey in the car with a Vimto and a bag of salt and vinegar while the adults drink.

I'll only end up phoning up the police to say that I've been kidnapped again.

Ah, bollocks. I've got an exam the day after (yes, on a Saturday).
These exams have pissed on my chips twice now. I've got one the morning after going to see Roger Waters at the o2 in London, I still don't know what to do about that :(
-
The only sensible thing to do there Stu is give me your ticket for Waters.
-
A reminder that tickets are on sale and we need your money.

Knee op for the wife means I am a no.
-
Did the Red Lion used to be called the Brown lion? or has the bang on the head I had in 1983 kicking in.
-

Different one I think.
-
The Brown Lion is a different place, is currently called Nicole's but is reverting to the original name in a few weeks having been taken over by a small brewery.
-
Does anyone know of a support band who might fancy playing? PM me if do.
-
Dave-Have you sent out tickets or is there a list on the night? Have not received any. Any decent local B&B nearby where I can park the car and wobble back to?
-
Sorted, and for anyone who wants to stay the weekend www.booking.com has some ludicrously cheap deals.
-
Got a double room at Jurys for £69. Might as well make a night of it.
-
Arse, if I'd bothered to look at this I would have sorted my flight over for Friday instead of Saturday. Ah well......
-
Just to confirm - tickets available on the door?
Also, is there a secret password to get in?

Bazz, I have a spare, just tell Dave it's mine and buy me a pint when I get there.

Ideal, if you're starting off somewhere else before hand let me know. I finish work at 2pm on Friday, so be available for beers from about 5ish.

You won't need to go anywhere else.

What time are people getting there for then?

Would love to but I'm going straight from work and I don't finish until 7pm.
If want to PM me your mobile, if I can somehow wangle an early finish I could have a sharpener in Brum somewhere maybe, depends how nice they want to be to me.

Looks like I'm missing this one.
There, that should help ticket sales.

The Red Lion tomorrow night. You've bought a ticket. Remember?
-
I will be there in spirit, but you're still not getting my £5.
-
I'm out drinking with a blue nose tomorrow and for some reason cannot talk him into going to this.
-
I'll be there.
Will there be nibbles, or do I need to feed my face before I get there?
-
Jon and I will be there. Maybe I shouldn't have said that as it'll frighten everybody off.
Oh, and Frank and Mike will be there.
-
Me and Mrs Kip will be there with two grown-up sprogs (if they turn up).
-
I still don't know what time it starts!
-
Nor me.
A few of us are meeting in the Brown Lion if you want to join us.
-
Sounds good to me.
Where is it and what time?
-
I still don't know what time it starts!
Doors at eight, music at nine-ish.
-
Hall Street.
About 6.30 - 7.45 pm
-
Ok, I'll be at the Brown Lion around 7ish.
-
Given my 2 tickets to my Dad. Still not fully sorted tomorrow's 6-a-side tournament and I've got to mark my Standardised SATs papers before Saturday evening. Have a beer on me. Bazz will pay.
-
Marvellous night, cheers y'all.
-
It was indeed, Dave.
Many thanks to Mr. W for arranging another enjoyable event.
-
My pleasure. They are a bit good.
-
Indeed.
Many Thanks.
-
Just got back. Excellent night Dave and great to meet so many people for the first time including yourself. Even the young boinger enjoyed his little self. Mind you he was well lubricated with that lovely Bathams ale.
Band were really enjoyable-took me back a bit as I have not been to a proper pub gig for a while. (I mean that as a big complement) This was the sort of thing that got me into music, shame I ended up in the other side of the business where everyone takes themselves so seriously.
-
Was a great night, cheers Dave.
-
I'm trying to remember everyone I met. Mr & Mrs Villa JK (thanks for introducing me to folks),Bazza tube dude, CD, Mike J, Dave Cooper, Bren-D, Frank and somebody who claimed he was Dave Woodhall but I think he was just the bloke who took the tickets.
-
Good to meet you too Kipeye.
Did you tell everyone up there that you were off to meet a load of people you talk to on the internet?
-

Well - they understand I don't have many friends.
-
Reminds me of Damon and the gay accusation.
As an aside, if you can book the next one for when I am either not in a foreign country or where I don't have to look after the nipper and a wife that can't walk, then I will happily come along!
