I was going to bring this up on the general's thread but don't have access anyway and thought I'd get a general reaction as to whether people would be interested in this anyway before I asked for a pass and brought it up
I have a mate who's a Stoke fan and he forwarded me this email:
Stoke City Football Club are delighted to be able to offer you the chance to realise the dream of every Stoke fan by playing on the pitch here at the Britannia Stadium!
You and your group can book a slot to experience a day as a professional footballer by taking part in a match on the hallowed turf at the end of the season.
The cost of a 3-hour pitch slot is £3,000 plus vat and includes:
90 minute 11-a-side match
Full use of the players’ dressing rooms
adidas kit provided for each team (30 kits total)
Maximum of 15 players on each team (starting 11 plus 4 rolling substitutes)
Referee and Linesman provided
Bring along friends and family to watch from the stands
2 slot times to choose from; 12:30pm arrival (kick off 1:30pm) or 5:30pm arrival (kick off 6:30pm)
Dates available from 23rd May to 5th June (subject to availability)
On the basis of 30 players taking part, it works out at just £100 per person plus vat and each player will receive a full adidas kit as part of the deal!
For more information contact:
etc.
Fpr £100 this seems like a good deal to me, especially as you would get a full kit with it also, and if Villa park could do something similar I would be well up for it. If Villa Park were to do something similar would other people be interested, and would you be willing to pay that much for 90 minutes of football (possibly less with subs.) And what are the chances of Aston Villa doing something similar do you reckon?
-
Good idea. Do you get to keep the kits?

To get access read this (http://www.heroesandvillains.info/forumv3/index.php?topic=41986.0)
Similar thing here (http://www.heroesandvillains.info/forumv3/index.php?topic=41859.0) costs more but some of it goes to charity FootballAid

Its a great idea considering it's post season and wont ruin the pitch.
Yes, I would be interested (at Villa Park).

As far as I'm aware you do get to keep the kits, but obviously if Villa were to do it then they might do it slightly differently although I can't see why you wouldn't be allowed to keep them.

Thanks, I hadn't heard of that, something worth me looking in to.
-
Good value especially as you keep the kits!
-
I asked the General (a few times) if Villa did this. But never got a proper response.
-
Great idea, when you break it down to what each player would pay it is a bargain.
-
I think I saw PNE advertising it as well
-
It's a really good idea.

If you have not noticed the VP pitch is superb especially after the piss poor weather we have had - take alook at other prem teams this time of year and you will see just how good ours is. In fcat every team that come to VP remark how superb it is.
This is mainly due to the amount of work they do on it.
Not many will know what happens once the game is over and fans have left but they wheel out huge heaters and lamps onto the pitch and sometimes the groundsmen work all night to ensure the pitch is in top shape.
During the close season even more work is carried out so i do not think there would ever be a time when the pitch was free and even if it was too much use and it would really start to suffer
so although a nice idea i cannot see it being practicable or good for the surface

I did the football aid at villa park about 6 years ago and actually scored a couple in front of the holte end. unfortunately there was no one in the holte end.
-
Dont they do their own particular version of this at the dog shit ? Ands its free if they aint caught.

Someone make it happen. It'd be amazing.
-
Sounds a great idea, although £120 a head seems steep for your typical Sunday morning pub team (that's why it is given as £100 + VAT - it'll be a company junket).
I would imagine Villa's blurb would read along the lines of:
Nike kit may be provided for each team (30 kits total), but you'd be advised to bring your own. We'll forward the Nike as and when it arrives, probably sometime in November.
-
Spurs and West Ham both do it. £5000. We were only discussing this last week on the way to the Man City game, saying it would be a great idea for a stag do.

Does the pitch get changed every couple of years?
The ideal time, before laying a new one to make a few bob out of the fans?

sounds familiar. minus the goals.

I can't see how letting 30 hairy arsed overweight fatty's play football on the pitch will do it any more damage than a bunch of dancers on a stage with 15,000 over excited split arses jumping up and down. Get it on. I want to be number 9 please. I'll be better than Ireland and I would run more - and i'm 3 stone overweight.
