I will predict this will be one of the worst games the world has ever seen, just have a feeling about it.

A horrible nil nil and return to Ewood beckons.

Still though while we're not completely safe of the danger zone (another 6 points in the next 4 games and I will relax) I would rather not be in this competition.

---Albrighton----Bannan--------Pires---

Will Delph, L Young, Clark, Walker and Ireland be fit for this one?  Will Warnock be considered.  Have Beye, Davies, Bannan and Lichaj dropped right down the pecking order or are they injured?  Makoun has Salifou's no. 17 jersey, has Sailfou been released?  Assuming no one returns from injury I'd go:-
Friedel
Cuellar Dunne Collins Baker
Albrighton Petrov Makoun Downing
Gabby Heskey
Subs:- A Young, Reo Coker, Marshall, Delfouneso, Pires, Herd, Johnson

2-1 Gabby x 2

The thing is, knowing Makoun isn't fully match fit, do we really want him to knock himself out which will see him using the oxygen mask before we play United?

Does anyone think it might be too much too ask our new signing to play 3 games in a week? Obviously I want us to win on Saturday but at the same time I don't want to see Makoun not playing next week because of tiredness etc...

I think you will find that the present Blackburn are not the long ball version of Big Sam's days.  I am told that the new fella is gradually weaning them off that and with the introduction of Santa Cruz up front are playing it around much more.

Id be tempted to give Ireland and Warnock a chance of rehabilitation in this one. If he could get his head sorted Ireland would save us a lot of pain. He is a better player than Seb Larsson for starters.

Friedel
Walker, Cuellar, Collins/Dunne, Warnock
Makoun, Petrov, Bannan/Delph (if fit)
Ireland, Heskey, Downing

that side should be enough to get us through

Think we'll lose this one, law of averages and all that.

We've just drawn them too many shagging times in the last two years.
Was happy with the home draw, but not against them.

We have a bit of momentum but Bent isn't eligible for us. Is RSC eligible for them? They seem to have responded well to Big Sam's departure, whether it's just Dead Cat Bounce, I'm not sure. Always thought that Jermaine Jones was a decent player whenever I seen him play for Schalke or the USA, wouldn't have minded us going in for him. Be interesting to see how he gets on in England.

Agreed, but I fear he's being kept in cotton wool while he recovers from his injury so he can pass a medical at Newcastle or wherever he's likely to go before the transfer window closes.

Just looked at the fixture list and noticed that if we win this one and get a favourable 5th round draw on Sunday then we could be one game from Wembley by the time the scum descend on the capital for the biggest game in their history.  It would certainly take the sting out of them getting to Wembley if we could get there as well, and in the proper cup.  ;)

Come on the Villa!  2-0.

With them sitting pretty in the league, they may well come with their strongest line up possible. A good run in the cup would be high on the agenda now they are otherwise reasonably safe from the drop..

Think Blackburn have a toughness about them that will make them difficult to beat so a draw for me. Two weeks ago I would have backed Blackburn.

Bizzarely I quite fancy us to sneak it at the replay at Ewood - that would make up for that lame 2-0 defeat last year.

Still though while we're not completely safe of the danger zone (another 6 points in the next 4 games and I will relax) I would rather not be in this competition.

Madness!  Do you think we can re-enter later on, if we decide we're safe in the league?

On balance, I'd like us to win the FA cup

I'll go for a nervy 3-1, with gabby completing his hat-trick in the 90th minute

I hope Delfouneso starts, he looked quality against city, we need to build his confidence and then keep it up!

...............Brad

Walker Cuellar Clark Warnock

......Makoun Herd  NRC

.... Gabby  Heskey  Fonz

Warnock because we are paying him alot of money, Herd I keep hearing he will start, Makoun, Fonz and Gabby need confidence.

Collins, Dunne and Petrov need a rest

Ash, Marc and Downing I'd keep fresh for Man U

We actually have some decent options now in the squad.

Keeper - only Friedel - at least Guzan is getting experience at Hull

Right back - Walker, Young (been good I reckon this season generally), Beye (was good in both games he started), Lichaj (one good game one shit one probably best loan him out) and Cuellar for away games like Man Utd

Centre Half - Dunne, Collins, Cuellar, Clark

Left Back - Clark, Baker (good debut against Nzogbia), Warnock (though I suspect a deadline day move to Anfield)

Centre Midfield - Reo Coker (needed for Old Trafford not the Cup game), Petrov (play in Cup game certainly not 90 mins in Old Trafford), Makoun (Reo Coker's replacement Id start against Blackburn), Delph (is he fit? Id only bring him back gradually), Bannan (an option for tomorrow or in a 3 man midfield at home against poor opposition), Hogg (did alright for us and will get good experience at Pompey), Herd (not good enough)

Wings - Albrighton, Young, Downing, Gabby (only in games like Man Utd), Ireland (really think we should give him one last chance, too good of a footballer to give up on), Pires (Id pay off the rest of his deal to leave)

Up front - Gabby, Heskey, Bent, Fonz (great cameo against Bham maybe consider for loan)

With the choice to move from 433 to 442. Before the start of next season I reckon L Young, Beye, Warnock, Reo Coker, Petrov, Pires, Ireland (probably) and even Heskey will move on. With Lichaj, Baker, Fonz maybe going on loan. Will be interesting anyway.

For tomorrow, its imperative we have players comfortable on the ball at full back. Definitely Id rest Clark, Reo Coker either Dunne or Collins and Downing ahead of the game next week but this cup game is still winnable.

Friedel
Walker, Cuellar, Dunne, Baker (since Warnock seems off)
Makoun,
Petrov, Bannan
Ireland, Gabby, Young

I recon:

I think the team I would go for (considering Man U Tuesday) would be:

Brad Snr

Walker - Dunne - Clark - Baker

Herd - Petrov - Delph

Albrighton - Heskey - Bannan

Subs
Parish
Delfouneso
Cuellar
Pires
Agbonlahor
A Young
Eric Lichaj

Rest
Collins
Downing

Not a bad shout.

Nah too lightweight, this is the F.A Cup, i want to get through to the next round.

Petrov, Delph and Herd can all tackle. But thinking about it, I'd rather go like this:

...............................Friedel

Walker..........Cuellar..........Clark...........Baker

..........Reo Coker.....Delph
............................................Bannan..............
Albrighton......................................................

...............Delfouneso...........Heskey................

Strong as we can, please. A cup run would lift the place. A cup win and it'll be Houllier tattoos all round.

Why's this a 1pm kick off? Can't see it advertised for TV anywhere!

The Noses Cov game is at 3.00.

Should mean a better chance of finding a stream then.
Before anyone asks I'm at work so cant get to the game.

Presumably, absence of Villa game on p2p site (http://www.myp2p.eu/competition.php?competitionid=&part=sports&discipline=football) and telecast details on FA Cup site (http://www.thefa.com/thefacup/facompetitions/thefacup/facuppages/facupontv) indicates the game won't be televised and thus streamed.

Is that right?

They are doing ok but I fancy a win today. Unfortunately, I shall be spending most of the day at work catching up on stuff I haven't done for a couple of weeks so won't be at the game.

ITV have the rights so it'll be a bloke in the upper witton filming it with a Nokia N95 for their 'highlights' package

Full-back Kyle Walker is set to make his home debut against Rovers clash after recovering from a back problem, while Ciaran Clark and Fabian Delph are also back from injury.

The manager has decided to rest Richard Dunne while Stephen Ireland [knee], Chris Herd [calf] and Luke Young [knee] will all miss the game through injury.

Jean II Makoun [thigh] is also an injury doubt with a thigh problem sustained against Wigan.

http://www.avfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10265~2279372,00.html

On that basis, I think I would play:

Friedel - Walker, Cuellar, Collins, Clark - NRC, Makoun / Delph / Bannan - Albrighton, Delfouneso, Agbonlahor - Heskey

They need to give any Villa fans intent of causing trouble a couple of extra hours drinking time before squaring up to the Blues/Cov fans in town

Has anyone said "it must be Blackburn's turn now"? Well hope not and they have been winning the League games against us  whilst we have had the cup wins in the last two seasons.

So they can have  the League game again in a couple of weeks time!

The team's in:

Friedel: Walker, Cuellar, Clark, Baker: Pires, Reo-Coker, Bannan, Agbonlahor: Heskey, Delfouneso

Probably about right, all things considered. Except for Pires, of course.

0-2 Home defeat. I was hoping GH may have gone for this game so this season wasn't a complete waste.  Keane(?!?) seems to have Rovers playing for him so another early exit I'm afraid today.
