King Kenny didn't last long, seems harsh after he won today. Good luck Neil.

Can today get any better?

Glad to see back of him, he's not good enough. Suprised Liverpool have taken him back, but certainly not complaining. Lets hope they make it permanent in the summer.

Bollocks.

Why couldn't they be thick enough to agree to buy him before they try?

Warnock out on loan = £40k(?) per week.
Carew out on loan = £52k (reportedly) per week.
Sidwell sold = £40k(?) per week.

That's possibly (if the reports are correct) £132,000 a week off the wage bill before you add Bent (£65k p/w?) and Makoun (anyone's guess).

25k per week for Makoun I reckon.  Thats a net £42k per week off the wage bill.  So around £2.4m per year.

Makoun will be on more than that. His agent will know the going rate for a player in England.

£40kish I reckon.

There's a talented footballer in there but a dismal defender. His gaffs and clumsy challenges have been expensive for us and Clarke shows more composure at LB than Warnock despite it not being his favoured position.

I was also surprised to hear that Warnock still lives on Merseyside so you would have to question his commitment to us.

trouble was the manager and his coaches all lived mils away so they could hardly ask players not to even though most other clubs.say GT do.

First 6/8 months yes, since then no, daft challenges and poor positioning thanks but no thanks la

I don't think he's as bad as many make out, his first few months with us he looked like the real deal.

At his best he's as good as anything in the country in that position, but he hasn't been anywhere near his best for a while. He also gave one of the worst displays from any footballer I've even seen in the 0-3 up there before Christmas, I can only assume King Kenny wasn't there that night.

Taking him out of the team has helped our defence no end, especially with his stupid lunging in all of the time. Adam Johnson tormented him when we played Man City away, whereas Clarke and the rest of the defence handled Johnson successfully by being smart.

There is no confirmation on this?  Are we sure that this is true?

Carew, Guzan, Sidwell and Warnock all off the wage bill.  Great.

They must be confident that they've got a player lined up if we're prepared to let Warnock go though. The lad from Montpelier, Spahic, is it?

I watched Charlie Adam on MOTD tonight and I must admit he looks very good.  £4m might indeed be taking the piss.  They wont sell him to us now I reckon.  Golloway needs to shut the fuck up though still.

I'm happy with Clark at left back, give him plenty of first team football until the time's right to move him to his natural centre back position.

I love CC but like Albrighton and BB the kids need to be brought on gently not thrust into the game, Ciarans time will come but I doubt it will be at full back, in the mean time god bless all he's done for us!

Definitely a very good left back on his day. But as good as Cole, Evra or Baines 'on his day'? Absolutely no chance!

Could well do well at Liverpool but I do fancy seeing Albrighton up against him!

On his day, he's definitely as good as Baines.

It's just that Baines has been having 'his day' for the last four months which has coincided with the worst form of Warnock's career.

Baines has played well for 18 months now Dave, Everton fan I know reckons he is their most valuable asset now. Warnock just never seemed to perform consistently. First 2-3 games he was shaky and had people worried, he improved to become quite good for 3-4 months, then the injury and since he has not had a decent game that I can recall. Won't be missed at all IMO.

Clark has had 3 better games there already and he is a 20 year old centre half out of position. I would keep him there too. He has the ability and potential to be good enough going forward because he is composed and has quality on the ball, meanwhile he is much more solid defensively. He has time to play left back for 7-8 years before moving inside to centre half, and could be a really quality player.

Went from one of the best full backs i've seen at the club to one of the worst within 6 months. Very strange. If we can get £5m for him we will do very well.

Can't say I'd be too disappointed with Warnock leaving - a remarkable loss of form, sadly. Still, Clark looks like he's good enough to play there, for now.

Has warnock gone or not, or is it just a wm rumour- I've seen nothing from the club that he's gone and kendrick said yesterday villa had refused to loan him out?

The only thing that concers me is yet again (if it's true) we're offloading our only specialist left back reducing the squad numbers. So thats Walker, Makoun and Bent in, Guzan, Sidwell, Carew and Warnock (to be confirmed) out. So the squad is weaker by one player. I just wish we would only release players AFTER a replacement is already in.

With Walker on the right with pace and speed. We need to have the same on the left. Clarke is a booking away from suspension. Houllier must have someone lined up ........

Just seen a few posts from Liverpool fans about him and they seem quite shocked if he goes back there- along the lines of he was sold because he wasn't good enough in the 1st place , so why bring him back.

I'd be very surprised if we got as much as £4m back for him.

Warnock - decent going forward.  Shite, absolutely gash, at defending.  Positional sense was non-existent, clumsy tackles and didn't even bother jumping at corners.  I lost count the number of far-post goals we conceded when warnock was just fucking about scratching his nads.

CC can gain experience and learn from dunne and collins whilst playing at a position where gaffs aren't as costly as they are in the middle.  he has also shown great promise going forward with goals against the title chasers.  he is one of our best performers at present and is in the team on merit.

meanwhile that other kid we got from spurs walker looks a world beater on his day (going forward).  i think that balance of one more defensive minded centreback (clark) and one fullback who pushes on (walker) is what the team has lacked for the past few years.

be interesting to see if we are still bidding for adam now that we have captured bent and makoun.  nrc, petrov, downing, delph (when fit) all competing for places in the middle.

A fantastic signing, & no doubt a tremedous player, but he's suffered a horrendous loss of form & clearly doesn't see eye-to-eye with GH.  GH sold him once as he didn't fancy him, so you have to trust his judgement.

It does seem that one by one the bad eggs are being pushed out the door.

Clark has been a star, needs to learn when to hold back from a challenge, but that'll come with more games.

Really struggling to work out just why we declined so much over the last year.

He was really good in his first 4 months playing for us or did I just imagine i?!

Still 5m hopefully at the end of the loan is a decent recouping price.

Nope, I remember a lot of posts about him being one of the best full-backs to play for us in a couple of decades.

As someone said earlier in the thread, he then descended into one of the worst.
