matt kendrick's talks about Holloway
birmingham mail (http://blogs.birminghammail.net/astonvilla/2011/01/go-away-golloway.html)
-
I have to say this has put me right off him and Blackpool.
And I don't even really want us to sign Adam.
-
The novelty wore off along time ago for me, an absolute annoying twat who loves the sound of his own voice
-
Really have had high hopes for Holloway and his down to earth comments but must admit also that I am starting to get bored of his comments on absolutely everything and nothing.
-
Another storm in a tea cup. Just ignore him.
-
Read his biography and always thought he was a decnt bloke, sadly, he's slipping into self parody and starting to be Sky's rent-a-quote.
I think he'll be less mouthy when Blackpool suffer their second season syndrome.
-

This years Hull / Brown combination in full effect.
To be fair, I haven't read the article as the link doesn't seem to work but if he's protecting Blackpool from the advances of a bigger club then you can't blame him.
What exactly has he said?
-
Cant beleive the media didnt make more out of his Rooney outburst cause at the end of the day he looked like a proper twat having been royally played by Team Rooney.
Sir AF will have his day ...... he always does eventually but Holloway just looked like a right muppet to be honest.
-
An aside, but one thing that pisses me off about many Premiership managers (Allardyce, Bruce, Holloday etc) is their readiness to kiss SAF's arse. Yes, he is a great manager, but also a prat, and sometimes it seems as if the managers in question are more concerned about joining a self-help group of SAF fans (in hope that they, in return, will receive some praise by their great idol) than defending their own club. (I guess the main reason why I am in the very small minority who liked Benitez is that he actually tried to stand up to Ferguson at times.)
-
I really enjoyed his book as well and he came across as a likeable character, he's acting like a knob at the moment, When I had a pop at him yesterday my boggies mate said your only saying that cos he had a go at Villa.
No actually, Look at the facts Adam cost £500,000 now he can fetch £3.5m or let him walk away for fuck all because as far as I can see he won't sign a new deal and Villa are a much bigger team than Blackpool will ever be! I'm sorry but Man United aren't interested or will they ever be, Neither are any team in the top 4!
I can see them easily getting relegated next year and they'll probably sack the little goblin. I can understand he does not want to lose his best player but you don't keep them happy by telling them where they can and can't go to play their trade. You didn't see Mon insulting Liverpool when they tried to sign Barry. he just told them the price.
-
He needs to start acting like a professional Football Club manager should when dealing with the media. He will fuck up at some point soon and end up looking (even more so) like a complete twat.
-
"The new Phil Brown" sums it up quite nicely.
-
Sky TV are definitely his " Precious"
-
Sky TV are definitely his " Precious"
Apparently, he likes nothing better than catching and eating raw fish on Blackpool beach.
-
silly little carrott cruncher should keep his trap shut...
-
The irony remains that we've said nothing about Adam, the news came from him blabbing.
-
He has showed us a lack of respect i used to like listening to him but not no more rent a gob sums him up.
-
The irony remains that we've said nothing about Adam, the news came from him blabbing.
That's the point, on SSN this morning he said "Why is it in all the papers?"
Because of your fucking big mouth that's why you cock!
-
I'm bored of him already.
-
The guy is rent a quote. Like Phil Brown he'll be back where he belongs in the Championship soon and then nobody will care what he has to say. Yet another example of a manager who likes the sound of his own a voice a little too much.
-
Holloway needs to remember that Blackpool have done well in the Premier League for 6 months, and good on them for that. However he shouldn't get ideas above his station, Villa are a a big big club in England.
-
Referring to us as a 'half-arsed club' as well is a disgrace.
-
I hate the little twat. he needs laying out very soon....
-
We weren't a half added club when you wanted Bannan on load were we you fucking wanker?
-
We weren't a half added club when you wanted Bannan on load were we you fucking wanker?
Exactly, the audacity of the man. As I said Villa are huge club in terms of English history and other than this year one of the top 6/7 clubs in England regularly for the last few years.
-
"I WANT him to go to a strong club with a strong manager who loves him and where he will be able to win things, not some half-arsed place that used to be famous and the manager is on a dodgy wicket."
This coming from a second-division team and a manager who's greatest claim to fame is winning promotion.
Come back when you've won something of real value, you bald-headed bitch.
-
The cheeky bastard.
I assume he is, laughably, referring to Liverpool with that "strong manager" and "able to win things" stuff, which makes it even more pathetic.
-
Be nice if these comments came back to haunt him, and gave us a siege mentality creating a bit of harmony and fighting spirit which leads to us winning some gains. I can but hope!
-
What's disappointing for me is that he's gone from being refreshing to being caught up in his own image. Today it's us, and tomorrow it will be another club that wants one of his players. And he'll just alienate another group. I've been very impressed with what he's achieved, but he's not bigger than his club just like MON wasn't bigger than Villa. Even if they believe it sometimes. The club has a responsibility to be financially sound, and selling Adams as difficult as that may be will help with that aim.
I like the way we've done things here. Houllier only addressed it when asked. Nobody from Villa ever spoke about it publicly, and this is only news because Holloway's been been gobbing off to anyone who'll listen about it.
-
What a hypocritical twat? Takes a bit of stick off the Southampton fans and asks for respect despite the fact he's disresepcted the FA Cup by playing a weakened squad and now this disrespect shown to us, each and every one of us and our Football Club . I've bought a ticket for Blackpool and hope we absolutely stuff the c****. Suitable chants should be penned in his honour.
-
When they get relegated next season, they'll be begging to have one of our youngsters on loan.
And I hope we tell them to fuck off!
-
We helped them get into the prem by loaning them Bannan, the ******.
-
Can't help feeling that some of his anti Villa sentiment is down to the way we mugged them in the last minute at our place.
-
I also think that because Blackpool have been playing some decent football and not being hopelessly outclassed they have been given a lot of leeway by a press that's looking for good copy. Holloway is having his day in the sun but when the results go south so will the press's tolerance of him.
-
Read his biography and always thought he was a decnt bloke, sadly, he's slipping into self parody and starting to be Sky's rent-a-quote.
I think he'll be less mouthy when Blackpool suffer their second season syndrome.
He’s like Gregory but without the hair-gel.
-
Can't help feeling that some of his anti Villa sentiment is down to the way we mugged them in the last minute at our place.
Maybe. They were lucky to be in the game mind. For all their plucky spirit, they should have been buried if the linesmen knew the rules of the game.
The mans a hyprocrit. He moans about loyalty and respect and shows none.
When Blackpool are relegated, be it this season or next, then he’ll slink off somewhere else- hopefully back under his rock.
-
Grade A wanker now.
He used to be interesting and funny; now he's descended into being a joke figure.
-
What a fucking ringpiece.
He's only got his arse in his hand because he isn't used to the big boys sniffing around his players. And that's because all the other teams he's managed in the past have been completely shite (as Blackpool will be when everyone susses them out and they drop like a stone next season).
-
Everyone on here seems to have turned against him because he's said something anti-villa. That apart I still think he's good value. His team is also doing it the passing way rather than the Allerdyce way. A degree of respect to them I think.
-
The cheeky bastard.
I assume he is, laughably, referring to Liverpool with that "strong manager" and "able to win things" stuff, which makes it even more pathetic.
I don't think so. He mentioned Liverpool and said "they can't afford him". He was probably referring to Spurs, who scouted Adam at his last game.
-

Crazy isn't it, Villa fans taking issue with a chump who slags us off.
-

We are Villa supporters, it's our right to piss and whinge about the club.
Woe betide any Johnny come lately like him who does it.
He needs to take caution with his remarks, he's done well with Blackpool but he's achieved fuck all in the grander scheme of things.
If Adam comes to us, I can imagine him going a bit Tonto and exclaiming
'Charlie has let himself down, his career will slide now.'
-
silly little carrott cruncher should keep his trap shut...
;D
-
I had Talksport on yesterday evening as I went to pick up the other half from work. Whoever was co-presenting with Gough was ranting about Holloway's comments about Peterborough and Ferguson and the management merry go round. He said that Holloway should only comment on something when he knows all the facts otherwise he should keep hie mouth shut. So I'm guessing that amounts to Talksport calling Holloway a kettle.
-
"Sit down you ginger ****"
-
Blackpool boss Ian Holloway has repeated his verbal attack on Aston Villa manager Gerard Houllier over making public his interest in signing midfielder Charlie Adam.
The Tangerines have already rejected bids for £2.5 and £3.5 million from Villa for Adam.
But Holloway has the "raving hump" that Houllier has spoken about Adam, who has 18 months remaining of his current deal.
And he insisted Adam will not be sold to Villa.
Holloway was speaking after his side were beaten 3-2 at West Brom via a last-gasp goal from Peter Odemwingie - his second of the game.
He said: "You've got every right to ask me the question, but Mr Houllier should not talk about someone else's player when he hasn't put up enough money to buy him.
"Will I honestly sell him (Adam) to Aston Villa? The answer is no because I am managing his career.
"I've told him where I think he's good enough to go and again today I think he's hit the best pass I've ever seen in my life.
"If there's anybody in the Premier League who can hit a pass like that, how much are they worth?
"So don't insult me by talking about my players.

Holloway is fast become our newest bloke to hate. What a wanker.
-
Everyone on here seems to have turned against him because he's said something anti-villa. That apart I still think he's good value. His team is also doing it the passing way rather than the Allerdyce way. A degree of respect to them I think.
Last week: "Boo hoo, the Southampton fans sang 'Premier League you're having a laugh' at my team, how disrespectful"
Today: "Aston Villa are a half arsed club who were famous once and have a manager on a sticky wicket". So that's obviously a different kind of disrespectful.
Fuck off, Holloway, you tedious hypocrite.
-
Would Ian like to tell us all where these quotes are? Must admit I'm completely non-plussed as to what he's getting his knickers in a twist about. has Houllier said anything at all about Adam?
-
Would Ian like to tell us all where these quotes are? Must admit I'm completely non-plussed as to what he's getting his knickers in a twist about. has Houllier said anything at all about Adam?
Yes, he said in his press conference that the club had made an offer to Blackpool for the player and are waiting to hear back. He said that we'd done it the right way, and made no comment beyond that. We've kept everything above board here. What I see is a desperate man shouting as loud as he can but ultimately to no avail. The next thing will be is where he threatens to quit if they sell Adam to us. I will chuckle.
-
I think he's a little to eager to please his new mates in the media who have never given him half a glance in the past, the thing is 'Hollers', or whatever wanky nickname they are about to bestow on you, they will return to not giving a shit just as soon as your team inevitably returns to being fuck all.
-
If memory serves me right. Didn't Coventry make similar noises before we signed Dublin. He's desperate to get a bidding war going. He does engage the mouth before the brain.
-
I do not condone GH mentioning that he has made a bid, we get pissed off when other managers talk about our players.
-
I do not condone GH mentioning that he has made a bid, we get pissed off when other managers talk about our players.
But that was only to confirm to a journo that we'd made a bid, hardly on the lines of the Redknapp type of tapping up.
-
Holloway actually confirmed we'd made a bid first. Then, because it wasn't enough, decides to insult our entire club. He can fuck off back to his hovel and stay there.
-
Haha get stuffed Ian Holloway you bitter, dumb man. You've made yourself look so small time and I can't imagine what Charlie Adam now thinks of your immature outburst.
-
I wasn't arsed one way or the other about signing Adam but I hope we do now just to piss Holloway off.
-
Holloway actually confirmed we'd made a bid first. Then, because it wasn't enough, decides to insult our entire club. He can fuck off back to his hovel and stay there.
That's the thing. If he hadn't said anything then there would have been no questions for GH to answer. Holloway and Barry Fry must be sharing notes.
-
Sorry if Holloway went early. if thats the case then he is obviously taking his moments in the spot light to seriously, wanker
-
Holloway talked first, then GH was asked and said he likes him but has not had a response through official channels. Would love Randy to offer Oysten? 5million and get it accepted.
Also - how arrogant can a manager be - I manage his career? If I was Adam I would be saying no you fecking don't you golum resembling gobshite, get back in you box and feck right off. I would have a transfer request in tonight.
-
He can fuck right off the cheeky little twat. That's open fucking warfare on my club as far as I'm concerned, and I'd be happy to take him up personally about it.
I hope Gerard responds accordingly, it might be a good opportunity to get some fans back on side cheaply.
-
Does anyone else think Holloway might be losing it? His outbursts and rants seem to be happening more frequently.
Personally I'm not really that bothered whether we buy Adam or not, but I certainly wouldn't want us to pay over the odds for someone who is potentially a bit of a gamble. Could be Sidwell all over again.
-
I fancy them for the drop. With the exception of the Liverpool game haven't they lost all of their games recently?
-
Come on Gerrard, fight fire with fire.
-
Adam's a decent player. Good at keeping the ball, nice passing skills and looks pretty good at freekicks... he'd be a good addition to have. I think I want him even more now that Tractor Boy has done his latest attention seeking act.
-
We might be shit this season but to question the size of our club? What a fool. I hope we give him plenty of stick there in February, he might cry like after their cup game at Southampton.
-
I watched the Albion Blackpool game today and Adam can pass the ball very well and can open up a defence, like someone mentioned he is the poor man's Gareth Barry and following Holloway's comments I think it would be great if the player put in a transfer request and moved to B6. However is he doesn't come I won't be too fussed as we have Bannan coming through who could do just a good job as Adams, oh and Holloway "Feck off, you toad".
-
Charlie Adam = Steve Sidwell circa 2008-09
Tangerine Ian Holloway = Tangerine Phil Brown
Its all so effing repetitive this premiership lark.
-
Come on Gerrard, fight fire with fire.

**slightly drunken chortle**
-
Holloway is like a breath of shit air.
-
There's only one person who comes out of this looking half-arsed.
-
And if we'd offered him the job instead of Ged he'd have jumped at it.
Nob.
-
I'm surprised that that Holloway can upset so many people. Blackpool are this season's Reading or Hull. Great season so far, but they'll struggle in the later stages this season and they'll go down without a whimper next term . Holloway is enjoying his 15 minutes of fame and trying to protect what little assets the club currently have. His comments regarding Aston Villa are typical of an outsiders view of the current position of the club in my opinion.
-
Strange that so many people are confident that they'll succumb to second season syndrome. Yeah it happened to Ipswich and Hull before them (probably a few others to a lesser extent - Blose and Baggies?), but it's very early to be so dismissive of them. That Blackpool's regular first team earn less per week combined than one of the division's top players but still give anyone a game is one of the few feel-good things about football these days.
-
I want Blackpool to stay up on the basis I always want the promoted teams to (Blues & Albion excepted) and I do think Holloway's a decent manager. However, after that insult he can f*** right off and I will enjoy seeing him stew in what I think is Blackpool's inevitable abysmal run (starting yesterday?)
-

I'm surprised two formal bids from us has him flipping his lid so petulantly. If he's that angry he considers our bidding process the same as "harrassment" he desperately needs to see a shrink.
Adam is a decent player, but if it means dealing with Mr Bald-Headed Bitch, then it's more France imports
-
Cretinous little irk he has become. And also a massive hypocrite. So it's ok for you to talk about other clubs players.
Meanwhile, Holloway has admitted his interest in signing Barnsley winger Adam Hammill.
The 22-year-old, who had a spell on loan from Liverpool at Bloomfield Road in the 2008-09 season, has scored eight goals for the Tykes so far this term.
"There are lots of people who would be interested in Adam Hammill," said Holloway.
"His agent has done a good job and there is a clause in his contract which guarantees you can get him.
"We're not the only ones who know that, but we like the boy and we've had him on loan here.
"But he's not my player and there are a lot of things that have got to happen before he is."
-
Super stuff from Mat Kendrick on Twitter.
MatKendrick Mat Kendrick
#avfc Sorry to labour the point, but Ian Holloway, good luck with Marlon Harewood. This half-***sed club is closing in on Darren Bent

lmfao...

why dont we trade Petrov for Adam. Adam doesnt get knackered on 53 minutes, can score, and can pass forwards.

If we get Makoun, Adam AND Bent, that will be the quickest revamp of our team in many a long year.

no kidding Risso. And if anybody doubts Randy after that will need to ressurect OJ Simpson's lawyer Johnnie Cochran to defend them.
-
If we get Makoun, Adam AND Bent, that will be the quickest revamp of our team in many a long year.
And makes me remember MON's dawdling, when we were told that quick deals were impossible and that O'Neill was a 'cool hand Luke' in the transfer market.
-
Still a big "if" at this stage TV, but I'm more hopeful than I've been in a good while.
-
If the opening paragraph in Mat Kendrick's blog is a direct quote from Holloway, the man is a disgrace to talk about us - or any club - in such terms.
I'm liking Holloway less every day, just as I'm liking Kendrick more every day.
-
Still a big "if" at this stage TV, but I'm more hopeful than I've been in a good while.
No, you're absolutely right. It's like we're 50% there; Makoun in the bag, and Bent almost delivered. Signing Adam would be sensational. My Tony Butler prayer mat circa 1984 is on my office floor. It's getting well used today.
-
As much as I like Adam as a player I think I'd get almost as much pleasure out of pissing off Holloway if we sign him.
-

Me too.
It would be the equivalent of snaffling the 'one ring to rule them all' off him.
-

Would absolutely LOL if Adam put up a transfer request...
Make it happen!
-
Oh I would get great amounts of pointless pleasure from Adam coming here after all that Gollum has spouted. Then that would be doubled if an Adam inspired display took all 3 points at their place in Feb
-
Have always quite liked his quirky comments. But this shows a lack of respect that will bite him on the arse one day.
-
Get Charlie Adam ready Gollum, we want him gift wrapped as well, you bitter bastard.
-
were coming too your SMALL A***D club to get adam now you muppet
-
Small arsed club, doesn't that look ridiculous now Ian?
-
Blackpool will look very small arsed next season with their inevitable relegation and subsequent financial trouble.
-
feb 12th is going to be very interesting now
-
The man is a prick believe's his own hype
-
oi right said fred! hope your squirming in your seat next time the cameras are on you. our small time outfit has just got our hands on one of the best strikers the prem has ever seen in terms of goals. Adam will love playing with him im sure
-
Hollowhead's got to be cacking himself now. Looking at our squad now any reasonably high bid with wages would definitely tempt Adam's head.
£40million total for one player. Half-arsed indeed.
-
Would love Adam to ask Holloway if his ambition matched that of the club that has enquired about him...
-
Now now, let's not get all Man-City-grotesque on their (half) asses.
Actually, fuck him. He's a cock who will be put squarely in his place when either Villa or another big club comes along and takes away his precious.

A man who speaks from the heart. Therefore I couldn't give a rat's tossbag about Holloway and his two bob snipes, he's just playing his natural game. That "natural game" is exposing what he really thinks about the situtation in a game where one needs to keeps their cards close to his chest, will lose on most occasions. Let's hope he doesn't muck this one up for us.
A gobshite as passionate as Holloway who speaks from the heart, may know something the rest of us don't.

From eatsleepfootballwe'realllads.com
HOLLOWAY FURY AS HE THREATENS TO SHOOT OWN FAMILY
Blackpool Manager Ian Holloway last night esculated the row between himself and Gerard Houllier over the ongoing transfer saga of Charlie Adam, by exclaiming ''I'll shoot my family.''
Holloway is in bullish mood and feels he needs to demonstrate his hard and remorseless nature, by emulating the character of Keyser Soze from Hollywood cult movie 'The usual suspects.'
''I mean it'' Holloway wailed in his incest inducing accent
''If Houllier and his club make one more pitiful bid for Charlie Adam, I will personally travel down to Birmingham, grab Houllier by the scruff of the neck, drag him back to my home in Blackpool and then shoot all my family in front of him, not my dog though, I like walking on the beach with him.''
''This is serious, the whole of Blackpool's economy depends on Charlie Adam staying at the club, if he leaves, well, can the last person switch the lights off, this town will be coming like a Ghost Town.''
Holloway previously courted controversy as manager of Leicester City, Burnley manager Owen Coyle put in a bid for then Foxes striker Matty Fryatt, Holloway then claimed that he would
Turn into the liquid terminator from 'Terminator 2' and ruthlessley hunt Coyle down.
Following that outburst, Holloway was sectioned for two months but then recovered suitably well enough to take charge of the Tangerines in 2009.
Friends and family are now fearing that the rarified and highly pressurised world of Premiership football is starting to unhinge him again.
Aston Villa football club have refused to comment.
-
A profit of 700% is a great deal for Blackpool and the player clearly wants to leave as holloway said 'he can sulk all he likes'- Blackpool would be better to cash in now while they have time to spend the cash in new players-I reckon £4.5m would do it.
-
Holloways last rant makes it clear as day he has to sell.
-
Come on down Charlie, how embarrassing it must be playing for such a raving lunatic.
-
Hang on, Ian states that Villa are disrespectful in the size of their offer for a player he rates "so much higher", yet there is no evidence as he is "only" paid £10000 a week. I personally could just about make ends meet on that salary, but thats me. Golloway states he is worth £46 million to Blackpool, so surely he should be working a little harder to keep him. I think he is spending money he should be spending on Charlies salary on buying an icecream every day.
-
Holloways last rant makes it clear as day he has to sell.
He will, as soon as someone else makes an offer.
-
I think what we have here now is a clear case of a manager openly touting his player around. His issue now doesn't appear to be that he wants to keep Adam - it's that he wants us to pay big money for him and seems irked that we paid so much for Bent.
I don't think Villa have commented on Adam for at least a week now. Holloway keeps talking about him all the time now.
-
I can kind of see Holloway's point, the offer is a little derisory given Adam still has 18 months to go and it will serve to unsettle Adam if he is only on 10k a week, knowing he could quadruple that at VIlla.
That said, you can't blame another club or manager for trying to exploit the fact he's only on 10k a week. That's the way of the football world, and the answer to that one is in Blackpool's hands. If staying in the PL is worth 46m to them, could they not invest a little of that in upping Charlie boy's wages, subject to them staying up?
Secondly, how else is Houllier supposed to make his interest known other than by making an offer? I thought that was the correct way to go about it, yet Holloway is talking as if Adam has been tapped up for the last 6 months. If the offer isn't acceptable, turn it down, like O'Neill did when Liverpool bid for Barry. And shut the fuck up. Simple.
-
If Hollowhead is so sure of staying up, why not put Adam on £40k a week now ?
Adam has to hand in a transfer request to get the deal moving.
-
Villa either have to decide they want Adam as a long term player because he fits the style GH wants to adopt and Bent thrives on a good passer behind him in the middle of the park, and if so pay the 6 million ish that it will take, or walk away and go for someone else. Quibbling over 1.5 million or so if Adam is vital to the philosophy that GH is talking about will be as silly as not paying the 500k for Keane all those years ago. Either get it done, or move on now.
Holloway is being a complete dick, but is looking after himself as the manager who has to replace the player.

Loan then Barry Bannan again 'til the end of the season.

I'd actually go a step further and say he's reverse tapping up.
It's clearly obvious, he's enticing us - it's a "come and get him if you dare" plea.
He's probably banging his fists like a Tory boy at an Eton Convention right now screeching in his inbred accent "Why haven't they made another bid?!"
He needs lessons off Harry Redknapp.
-
If I was Houllier, I'd wait until the 31st Jan and offer £4m. If he dont take it, then he wont get that in the Summer and he'll regret not selling him to us.
-
I really can't see the point of shipping first teamers out on loan as a makeweight. If Villa really wanted Adam, they'd have got him by now. As it is, the Villa have said nothing for a week and Adam hasn't even asked for a move as far as anyone is aware. Holloway seems to be making noises for the sake of it.
-
I agree Pete,
The thing with trying to get Adam is to emulate the sort of passing ability that is required to release Bent through the middle. At Sunderland Andy Reid set up a lot of his goals last season from what I read with an eye for a pass, and Gerrard to Owen was the feature of Houllier at Liverpool. Think that is what he is after, and many have commented that Adam has a phenomenal passing range. As I said, if he fits the GH bill, then offer something decent and get him in, if not find another,
-

Agree.
I also agree that Hollowgob is talking him up to get a bigger deal.
Hollowgob is fast becoming a total laughing stock.
-
I can't help wondering why Blackpool haven't offered their captain and key player a new contract, if he only has a season and a half to go.
That's the question I'd be asking Holloway when he puts Charlie Adam on the agenda at his latest press conference.
-
He's only on 10 grand a week though - even the donkey as their mascot earns more than that.
-
He's only on 10 grand a week though - even the donkey as their mascot earns more than that.
He's on Championship wages like all of their players.
It is time for their Manager to put up or shut up.
-
i hope he goes to liverpool and flops...
meaning golloway loses him and hopefully get relegated, we get proven right in terms of the valuataion, and the bin dippers then get another immobile crap player...
me personally, im not fussed if we dont get the player... i have said from the start that as a cheap squad player he would be welcome, but i woud much rather we went for a more athletic creative attacking player like, fabian delph... oh wait...
-
Blackpool have missed out on Barnsley winger Adam Hammill, who opted to join Wolves, and it seems talks with Peterborough about their midfielder George Boyd and striker Craig Mackail-Smith have hit a stumbling block.
"We were only offered £3.5million for Charlie Adam. Peterborough want that for two lads who were in a team that got relegated from the Championship," said Holloway, quoted in the Blackpool Gazette.
"I don't mean that as an insult at all but I'm saying let's have a look at reality.
"They know we're a Premier League side but they don't know where my chairman (Karl Oyston) is. He likes to do good deals and are those players worth £2million (each)?
"Maybe they are, but who will buy them for that sort of price and what does that make Charlie worth?
"This is why it is so hard to quantify anything you own. Your house is only worth what someone will pay for it, not what an estate agent tells you."
so we are not allowed to put in realistic bids what we think a player is worth, and not allowed to talk about a player we might be interested in (despite the fact that we havent), but ian hollowhead is?!?
absolutely amazing...
words fail me...
-
Sounds like he's already spent the Charlie Adam money. Would be such a shame for him if we told him to go and dangle.
-

I thought this as well
-
The more this drags on, Holloway looks like a loud-mouthed yob.
If there's one thing we've learned over the last month, and it's why he's still held in such high regard at Anfield, GH is a man of dignity and class, he's cruising above the fray and I'm proud that he's our manager.
-
The cheek of the man.
Those two guys at Peterborough are pretty good and have long had a reputation among the better players in league one. Darren Fletcher should have a go back.

-
Accoding to Talksport Blackpool have now rejected a £4 million bid for Adam from Liverpool. If true, I think it'll all kick off now - transfer request time. Hopefully it'll bollocks up the rest of their season.
-
Take it or leave it, monkey bollocks.
-
as i said before, i hope he goes to liverpool and flops...
justifying our decision to not pay over the odds for him, and having a negative effect on the bin dippers and ian hollowheads seasons...
-
I'd really like him here, i'd go £4.5m, but anything over that is taking the piss.
He's surely Liverpool bound anyway.
-
You can't blame him for wanting as much money as possible. He's only digging his heels in like MON did with Liverpool over Barry. I watched Adam against Sunderland this morning and he looks a very good footballer. I'd go up to £5m personally.
-
This is bound to backfire for Holloway.
-

apart from not tracking back on the two goals...
im not a fan tbh...
-
I'm not bothered if we sign Charlie Adam or not. The guy's having a good season but I'm yet to be convinced.
-
For a man who doesn't want to sell, Holloway is pimping Adam very hard. He's had three bids now, he says. One of them from the noses.
-
hear about the bids for league 1 high scorer bradley wright-phillips? two bids... one from blackpool and one from reading...
one is 300k and one is 35k...
guess which one ian hollowhead put in?
-

True, although MON probably conducted himself a little better.
-
He thinks he is some kind of genius. It is baffling.
-
He can't help mentioning it can he. And now Keys is bringing it up again.
-
For someone who is not for sale, Holloway seems very keen to talk about how much his transfer value is.
-
I'm not bothered if we sign Charlie Adam or not. The guy's having a good season but I'm yet to be convinced.
This.
-
His latest rant is truly something to behold
"I was thinking about Liverpool and Charlie. I thought 'What a great club for him to go to' and then when I heard the bid I thought it was disgraceful."
"I don't think it was Kenny that put that offer in. Liverpool's Director of Football Strategy Mr Damien Comolli should take a look at what is going on and be realistic."
"What they have offered is about the price Charlie would have been worth when Kenny was last playing!"
"Is it a destabilising tactic from the three clubs Liverpool, Birmingham and Aston Villa? I don't know"
"We're not stupid little Blackpool. If you want him, I want the right amount of money.
"You saw his performance today. For the club to benefit from that - if we are to lose a fantastic player - it has to be the right amount of money. If they are going to offer me £4m, then that is insulting.
"Maybe I am the only one who can see what his value might be. It is all right admiring something. I like my neighbour's car but if I don't pay the right amount of money for it I'm not going to get it.
"They had better start by putting a figure one in front of the complete rubbish they have been offering so far."
Ferguson has already come out in the media and told him to wind his neck in.
I have some sympathy for Holloway though. We did get £26million for Milner and there is not £20million of difference between the two based on their performances at their best. Whether for Adam that level is going to continue I don't know.
I'm not bothered if we sign Charlie Adam or not. The guy's having a good season but I'm yet to be convinced.
This.
I agree with that. I still think he will be another Sidwell. A guy who looks decent at first with a team built around him but will drown in the bigger pond. I didn't fancy him much as a player at Rangers when he lacked that luxury.
-
You can't blame him for wanting as much money as possible. He's only digging his heels in like MON did with Liverpool over Barry. I watched Adam against Sunderland this morning and he looks a very good footballer. I'd go up to £5m personally.

I wouldn't expect an attacking midfielder to be tracking back, the lack of tracking back in the Sunderland game was the fault of others who's job it is to do.
-
I'm not bothered if we sign Charlie Adam or not. The guy's having a good season but I'm yet to be convinced.
The point is that our manager wants him. He's part of his plans for making us stronger so, if we back the manager, we should hope that he gets his man.
-
Adam looks a decent player from what I've seen this season but don't think he's any better than what we've got. We've got about 13 midfielders on the books at the minute and, with Makoun coming in, Delph coming back and Bannan coming through , I don't think Adam will improve us hugely this season. If Gobaway wants silly money let's leave it til the summer and pick him up for less, or better still get rid of more deadwood (e.g.Osbourne, Salifou) and pick up someone with a bit more quality who'll improve us more.
-
can t understand all this low bidding for charlie adam, he's a proper player. lets face facts if he is only worth 3.5 - 4m makoun must be the next beckenbauer (i am not having a go at makoun for my faults i have never watched him play it is not a go at him!!!!!!)
-

Bear in mind that he only has 18 months left on his contract, that makes a difference.
-
Just watching Sky and Holloway made a reference to Robert Green and his clanger in the World Cup, he said "The press slated him for his mistake, but he made a great save in the second half against the America"
What a class act!
-
His half-hurt, half-sycophantic references to Dalglish make him sound like the kid at school who thought he'd be popular once the school bully was going out with his sister
-
Really hope Blackpool slide and keep sliding down the table.
Lets see if he plays the role of MR Smart Arse when they're below us in the league.
-
Oh dear, he really just embarrassed himself there. What a plonka.
-
What did he say?
-
He seemed to be going in circles there.
-
What did he say?
Remember when he made a threat that he was going to resign if he wasn't allowed to sign a few players? Started getting defensive saying "I didn't say that etc..."
Also kept saying the offers for Adam were 'digusting'.
-
he needs to fucking shut up about Charlie Adam. He's sounding like more of a plonker with every new comment he makes. I bet he called Steve Bruce during the week to have a right moan about us. Idiots.
-
I am starting to enjoy this nervous breakdown he is having.
-

Bet has got Bruce on his facebook chat box. Conversation: "Ye i thought he should of phoned you Steve" Twat .......
-
I bet GH chuckles himself to sleep over both of their comments lately.
-
I am starting to enjoy this nervous breakdown he is having.
I can picture it now: Echo sat next to Keegan, Benitez, Phil Brown and Joe Kinnear in the football management ward of Bedlam. It was great watching each of their mental collapses.
-
Hope we give him plenty of stick up there.
-

i would expect any midfielder, whether they are attacking midfielder or deep lying playmaker, to track a man who is close by, if they are running towards my defence unhindered...
-
You can't blame him for wanting as much money as possible. He's only digging his heels in like MON did with Liverpool over Barry
It's not what he's doing, it's the way he's doing it.
He's hawking Adam around to all comers by telling everyone what offers have been received to date, referring to the offers as "disgusting", referring to one of the bidders as a "half arsed" club, telling us which clubs he won't be selling Adam to. Absolutely nothing like the way we handled the Barry situation.
Holloway can fuck off - we're all starting to see right through him now.
On a slight tangent, I was thinking the other day, is Houllier the french word for Holloway? It should be good fun when we play them up there. We'd better hammer them
-
i would expect any midfielder, whether they are attacking midfielder or deep lying playmaker, to track a an who is close by, if they are running towards my defence unhindered...
That would be my worry over Adam, the team is built round him at Blackpool, if he came to us he would be expected to do a bit more donkey work.
He's Roy of the Rovers there, taking the free kicks, penalties and corners, not sure how he would fit in as being just another midfielder in our squad.
-
indeed... a luxury player at a club like blackpool is fine... at the villa, he would have to put in a shift that i just dont think he is capable of...

adam has apparently handed in a transfer request this morning...

good...
-
Definitely Liverpool bound.
-
Don't Liverpool want Suarez too?
-
Yep
-
I can't see him being at Liverpool more than 18 months if he goes there, they have better players already and while he will give them a good passing option, I just can't see him fitting in. I can at Villa, but I think the ship has clearly sailed.
-
Gobby on sky sports now, he doesn't look happy!
-
Fcukin arseole, he now sounds desperate to sell him. I bet he feels a right mug now adams has handed in a transfer request. ere ere Charlie
-
You get the impression he doesn't like the Villa, silly little man!
-
You get the impression he doesn't like the Villa, silly little man!
Why? What's he said now?
-
You get the impression he doesn't like the Villa, silly little man!
He might not like us very much but he must see that he may very well want one of our players in the future and going out of his way to rubbish us is hardly likely to smooth the way for good relations. He obviously has started to believe his own publicity.
I see that SAF has had a pop at him this morning.
-
He is just a self promoting little twat. Even in an interview regarding Adam.. He has to tell the story that "he" played against Liverpool. Proper annoying carrot cruncher ..........
-
I had to laugh when he was talikng about Damien Comolli saying that he called the Blackpool chairman and was 'faffing about' and that they didn't know what he was going on about. I believe that we deal with things professionally and it's a shame that we are getting hammered by these clown managers such as Brucey and the Goblin.
-
You get the impression he doesn't like the Villa, silly little man!
Why? What's he said now?
He was biggin' up Liverpool no end, saying how they were on a list of the only clubs Adam should join.
-
They annoying thing is that come the end of the season, no matter where Adam ends up or where Blackpool finish, the media will still be banging on about what a "breath of fresh air" LOL-loway was for the Premier League.
-
Pity we galled him get up with the loan of Barry bannan- irritating jumped up little squirt of a man!
-
Villa, half arsed according to the west country's complete arse ranting philosopher, can't wait for the game up there. Would rather gub them than anyone else this season.
-
Holloway is a complete twat! And an ugly one to boot!
-
Villa, half arsed according to the west country's complete arse ranting philosopher, can't wait for the game up there. Would rather gub them than anyone else this season.
Oh yes. Damned straight.
-
the bottom line is there was absolutely no need for him to come out and say what he did about us. He made it personal. GH made it clear in the press conference that the club made a bid and it was rejected, as is their right. There was no need for Holloway on finding out about the bid to go mental. Then to find out the Liverpool bid was no higher, he makes himself look an even bigger tool by fawning over them like he was making some sort of case to stay in their good books should a future job opportunity arise. After all Kenny could never be a wanker like GH for Holloway despite his club making the same size bid for his darling player who then turns around and hands in a transfer request.
-
I think I will make the trip. I have a strange affinity with shabby, vulgar, down-at-heel Blackpool
-
he used to be funny, now he has taken himself too seriously, the bloke just wants to be in front of the TV camera see Mandrjk, Risdale Madjeski Redknap, Allardyce Mclaren and now the new Blackburn manager is at it.
-
I preferred him when he was a cider drinker.
-
Whose on the 'sticky wicket' now Holloway?

Ferguson: I've had him bending my bl**dy ear on the phone
Sport.co.uk 12:24 Mon, 24 Jan 2011
EvenFerguson thinks Holloway is a pain .....
-
The ****** is hawking him to Ferguson now
sportinglife.com
Ian Holloway has challenged wantaway skipper Charlie Adam to play so well against Manchester United tonight that he catches Sir Alex Ferguson's eye.
Blackpool have not dismissed Adam's transfer demand. But unless Liverpool increase what the Seasiders say is an "unacceptable" £4million offer, the 25-year-old will not be allowed to leave.
And, according to Holloway, that would be the Merseyside giants' loss.
For he has no doubt the former Rangers star can excel at a big club, and is not dismissing Old Trafford as a potential destination for the player.
"If he shines tonight Manchester United might want him," said Holloway.
"Charlie is the best I have seen for a long time and he is only going to get better. That left foot is magical.
"I want to get Charlie where he should be; at one of the top four teams in the country.
"Next week he might be focusing on Champions League. He would do that with my blessing. But we need to be compensated properly."
-
Fergie seems to have him sussed:
"I’ve had him (Holloway) bending my bloody ear on the phone. He’s never got a penny, always pleading poverty.
"You end up crying after he comes off the phone, feeling sorry for himself.
“He’s always been that way, for loans and so on.
“Even when he was dealing with signing Craig Cathcart from us, he was saying ‘I can’t afford him’. Now he says he is the best signing he’s made!
"Of course he thinks the offers are not enough! When he goes for a player, his view is the asking price is ‘bloody disgraceful, bleeding the country dry’.
“Then somebody tries to buy his players and he demands top money!"
-
To be honest, I think all this shit Holloway's throwing at other manager's is going to land him self in a big pile of doggy doo.
Let's look at it this way: If Charlie Adam was to go for £4,000,000, then surely Blackpool would have enough money to buy 4,000,000 players of their standard.
He was funny at the start, now he's just turning into a right nuns dildo.
-
I think Holloway will lose his mind before the window closes. Seriously, the man is not mentally stable and he's on the verge of a breakdown.
Either that, or he huffs a can of Swan Vestas or licks some toads before his strangely numerous press briefings.
-
I wish MoN had tried half this hard to keep Milner.
But then, these blokes [MoN & Hollowhead] are at opposite extremes.
You're a cunt at either end, in my opinion. Everyone should be in the middle. Like Sir Alex [rolls eyes].
-
Holloway was everyone's favourite manager, including mine, with his refreshing approach to staying in the premiership, but his comments about our club and other people in the game who are much bigger than him, are way out of order.
He's got a bit too big for his boots, so I sincerely hope he ends up very quickly where he belongs.
-
I think Holloway will lose his mind before the window closes. Seriously, the man is not mentally stable and he's on the verge of a breakdown.
He might chin a reporter live on air, like Jim McLean at Dundee Utd did to a BBC reporter, shouting a nonsense remark
'Don't offer me that again!'
3.26 and he goes Tonto.
-
Did anyone hear the Blackpool Chairman on Talkshite this morning?
He was about to come on air but I had to get out my car to come into work so missed it, and was wondering what he had to say...
Alan Brazil had hinted that Blackpool want £12m for Adam (!) so he was going to ask him about it...
-
I get the impression that the press are getting wise to what a prick Holloway really is and they're giving him just enough rope.
I hope he dosen't manage to sell Adam, I hope Blackpool get relegated and I hope Adam goes on a Bosman in 12 months time.
And I hope Holloway gets the sack and disappears back up his own Wurzel Gummidge arse
-
Did anyone hear the Blackpool Chairman on Talkshite this morning?
No.
I wonder if he mentioned his filthy, rapist dad?
-
If he shines tonight, playing in his natural domain, the Theatre of Dreams, then Sir Alex might see him as his first real replacement for David Beckham. Alternatively, if - if I may be so bold as to use his name, because I respect him somuch - Sir Kenny is watching the match, he might see how marvellous he'd be for his magnificent football club and offer us the 11 figure number we know he's worth.
Alternatively, he might catch the eye of Ban-ki Moon and be offered a permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council - that's the kind of organisation he needs to be at, he's really that good, and I know that, because I'm managing his career, but the UN are a disgrace for talking about my player, they're just a half arsed organisation that is no better than the League of Nations etc etc etc etc etc
Zzzzzzzzzzzzz...
-
I noticed that in his response yesterday, Houllier referred to Dalglish as "my friend". Nice dig at Holloway.
I wish Houllier could let it drop now though and not get dragged into a slanging match
-
Starting to sound increasingly desperate, is Holloway. Maybe if he plays well tonight Man United might want him? If they do, they won't be offering much more than £4m either.
-
I noticed that in his response yesterday, Houllier referred to Dalglish as "my friend". Nice dig at Holloway.

He really didn't want to talk about yesterday though, he just wanted to let the issue drop but the reporters were dragging the quotes out of him.
I'm almost starting to feel sorry for Holloway now. Almost. He sounds like a desperate man.
-
For me, he was interesting for a while. When he was at Plymouth and used to write a weekly column on the BBC website he was very self-deprecating and talked well of the area and the people. He never seemed particularly bright, but appeared decent and seemed to have little of the 'Big-time Charlie' about him, which, in a sport that's full of characters with that mentality, was appealling.
He's evolved into something else though. He's got an opinion on everything and makes no leeway for other points of view or perspectives. What's worse is that his opinions are often ill-thought through, have little basis in fact and are regularly, forgive me, 'half-arsed'. He's becoming a bit like the bore whose voice you can hear from any corner of the pub, but who you wish would just give it a rest.
Look at his quote about a fee for Adam as an example:
'A bid of £4m is not acceptable. Liverpool should have started with at least four times that offer. Put a one in front of it and it might be realistic.'
In one sentence he says it should be at least £16 million and then, in the very next, says that £14 million 'might be realistic'. It's only a small thing, but it just shows a lack of thought. He's clearly just spouting things out without really thinking.
-

Sounds like half the posters on here!!

Just seen holloway launch a disgusting attack on houllier after blackpools game tonight- shocking and totally out of order- the guy has to be dome for bringing the game into disrepute- cowardly stupid little man who is a disgrace to his club tonight- shame on you holloway!

Houllier has done nothing wrong. Some of the Birmingham press men need to play Holloway's comments and bidding for Bradley Wright Phillips back to him, the hypocritical little fuckwit.

If he's had another pop at Houllier, that must surely mean we're still in with a chance of signing Adam.
-
said quotes along line of:
Thank you kenny dalglish for not mentioning my player - unlike some - mr houllier....
...they might do that in france but not here.....
...who does he think he is talking about my player
-
Was saying how Houllier should have acted like Dalglish and waffled about not doing things the way they do it in France. Bordering on getting himself into big trouble over that one I would think. I hope Randy stumps up 8 million and they are forced to flog him to us, just to piss that little oik off.
-
He fucking started the whole thing! Nobody heard a peep off us until he opened his trap. Houllier has acted with dignity throughout, that prick couldn't even spell dignity if he tried.
God, I really hope we tear them a new arsehole next month.
-
Seems to be on the verge of a Benitez-style mental breakdown.
-
I'd like his chairman to read him the riot act and the fa to charge him after tonight comments- how sad that the twat is beginning to make Blackpool a hated club all because of him- I've rarely wanted to punch the tv but his comments about our club and manager are totally disgusting tonight.
-
I'm telling you. His fragile egg shell mind will not last the transfer window. He'll be throwing his own dung around next and having a teaparty with his teddies.
But the truth is, nobody can make this arch-minge look any sillier than he does himself so... let him crack on.
-
What a freak. Not Houllier's fault you blew a 2-0 lead sunbeam.
-
He's looking more and more like he's having some form of mental breakdown.
He's starting to look like John Stape in Corrie
-
Fair play to Holloway, at least he's helping to galvanise the fans' new-found support for Houllier!
-
I don't get why he keeps going on about it. If Houllier was doing a Redknapp and constantly dragged the subject back to the player in question in every possible instance I could excuse the wobblers but Holloway seems determined to let the one or two utterances Houllier's made about Adam appear more serious than they are. I wouldn't be surprised if his manager's crap handling of the enquiries have made up Adam's mind to hand in a transfer request.
-
Ferguson really is the absolute Don of football mind games.
The first half we were battered and we couldn't handle Charlie Adam, his corner kicks are worth £10m."
Thereby, with a casual comment, creating Liverpool problems.
-
I'd like his chairman to read him the riot act and the fa to charge him after tonight comments- how sad that the twat is beginning to make Blackpool a hated club all because of him-
Dunno about that.
I'm not sure anyone really cares about what he's saying regarding Adam other than Villa fans and maybe Liverpool fans. Can't see any reason why they would care either.

I always find the ease with which Ferguson manages to freak other managers out astonishing. He'll say something like 'Arsenal won't win the league this season. They're not very good' and instead of Arsene Wenger telling him to fuck off, he whips himself up into a near-nervous breakdown.
Having said that, if it creates problems for Liverpool, I agree he's a master of his trade.

Look foward to ****** like colin murrray still banging on about what a breah of fresh air he is etc on motd2 or some shit.

so we're out of order for putting a low offer in on adam, yet he's now admitted he did the same with DJ Campbell???
"We offered a £100k for him, ended up paying £1m"
SO what's the difference?
Houllier was using his press conference to have a dig at holloway for not going through the proper channels to tell the club adam isn't for sale or what ever. Holloway wanted to use the press and show Houllier up. Now when our manager plays the same game, Holloway wants to throw his dummy out.
Get a grip! I'm already bored of it. To a point where when he comes on the tv from now on, i'm switching the channel

This is absolutely unbelievable...
Holloway attempting to fellate Liverpool FC (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/b/blackpool/9372674.stm)
-
So if Adam has put in a transfer request...have Liverpool actually made a bid? Or is Adam saying, I want to go to Villa...? Being as we have actually made a bid. Surely he wouldn't put a transfer request in on the back of Liverpool speculation. Maybe this is why he's slowly losing the plot regarding us...then again, maybe not...probably been tapped up one way or the other...
-

Did I hear right? Did he just semi compare himself to Shankly....fuck me, he needs to get a grip.
No top 4 club will buy Adam, he's good, he ain't THAT good...

"that's where i believe he should play. In one of the top four teams in the country."
Or, put more accurately, one of the top 11 teams in the country.

It honestly sounds to me like we've been the most interested party, and Holloway is fucked off we won't increase our bid, whilst simultaneously kissing Dalglish's arse in the hope they increase their bid.
-
If Holloway were on fire, I would go and buy a bag of marshmallows
-
His "we are above them in the league" reason is slowly vanishing. Wonder what's next? They don't have a beach or a tower?
-
Our beach by the library was a lot cleaner than their one!
Blackpool is a shithole. Why can't a nice seaside town's team with adequate seating capacity for away fans get promoted?
-
the BBC article... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/9373804.stm
Holloway also hit back at Aston Villa boss Gerard Houllier, who was unhappy with criticism from the Blackpool boss for the Midlands club's pursuit of Adam.
"I don't talk about other teams' players," said Holloway. "Mr Houllier didn't do that. He said they had made an offer and we hadn't got back to him and Charlie is really good. What is that to do with him? How unsettling is that?"
-
James Milner said a while back that he asked for a payrise when Newcastle priced him out of a move to Villa back in 2007.
I don't have much truck with those trying to defend the rights of overpaid footballers, but he had a point.
If Adam is worth £10/12/16 million, or whatever magic number Holloway can think of tomorrow, pay him a salary commensurate with that. When a 25 year old is on a salary that would now be poor for most Championship players, his valuation and the price other clubs are prepared to pay will reflect that.
Personally, I'd like to see us nab Adam in the last few hours of deadline day. Holloway can talk all the shite he likes, but I reckon his Chairman -his boss- would bite at say £6.5 million. Leave the fucker scrambling about without his best player and with no time to get a replacement.
-
If Holloway were on fire, I would go and buy a bag of marshmallows
Very good. We were talking about this pillock in the Marquee at Wigan and quite frankly he is driving everybody crazy. Go away please, Mr Holloway.
-
This carrot crunching prat's getting a bore now, every day he's got something new to say. Don't want Gerry to get in a slanging match with him but when he's disgracefully belittling our club the truth needs to be told.
Shame for the combine harvester driving muppet that his best chance to date (both playing and managing) at a reasonable size club (Leicester) resulted in relegation. I think that's still grating with him.
-
I so much want Blackpool to be relegated, losing Adam would help.
Make it so.
-
Adam staying at Blackpool until the end of the season, with Blackpool going down regardless, and then leaving for next to nothing in the summer is probably what Holloway deserves after the way he's been going on over the past month.
-
I want them relegated WITH Adam, followed by him leaving for a Bolton or a Stoke for a million because he can't stomach Holloway.
-
I'm surprised his head didn't explode after they should have had a penalty at 2-0 last night.
I can see Adam staying there until the end of the season and then going for £5M somewhere.
-

Agree with all of that.
I think Holloway would actually explode if we do sign him for around the £5m mark, so I just hope Sky have cameras there for it.
-
It's all about value, we thought Bent was worth £18M to us and luckily Sunderland agreed.
Adam is currently worth more to Blackpool than anyone is willing to pay, once Blackpool have stayed up that value might be different.
-
Hmmmm.
Sportinglife.com
Swindon boss Danny Wilson says Charlie Austin will not be joining Blackpool, as they have failed to meet the Robins' valuation of the player.

There are two issues, I reckon
The one is that they don't want to sell him, because they've not been offered enough, or they want to hold on to him, or whatever the reason, and they're perfectly entitled to take that approach, I don't blame them.
The other is the constant fucking whingeing about itby Holloway. Just decide your approach, and do it all behind closed doors with a bit of dignity.
That clip of him singning that horrible Liverpool song is toe-curlingly embarassing

Flippin' 'eck. Danny Wilson. Completely forgot about him.

It was really bad that.

he really has lost the plot...

In a very short space of time I have gone from really liking Holloway to now wanting him to choke on his own tongue.
I don't think I have ever had such an about turn on any person before.

Is that thing about him singing You'll Never walk alone serious then? I thought it was a joke.
Why would that crazed scrote be singing that?

Have you not heard it. He is reaching for the kleenex while singing it, asking the reporters to hold up pictures of King Kenny for his arousal. Weird little oik.
-
So the one thing Holloway agrees with Gezza on is their mutual love of Liverpool?
-
click here for chalkboard.... (http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/chalkboards/create)
someone mentioned adam and his wonderful passing range, and the media have gone potty about him recently, but its interesting that he misplaced over 27 passes out of 62 last night.. whereas ageing and first game back after injury paul scholes, misplaced 8 out of 77...
as for tackling, lets put it this way, he made less tackles than berbatov!
pretty much confirming my view on adam that i dont want him here, and think he is vastly over rated...
-
He's not overrated, Holloway's overrating him.
No-one's going to pay £10M for Adam because they know he's nowhere near that valuation.
I can totally understand Holloway not wanting to sell their best player, especially as it's looks like they could get themselves dragged back into a relegation scrap, but Holloway's got to be realistic about Adam and how much he's worth.
-
He reminds me a bit of Alan Thompson, looked good in a Bolton team built around him to an extent, but we needed him to work a bit harder and he was found wanting.
-

His sycophancy was at a high when they were about to play Liverpool. Rather than talk about his team and the match, he proceeded to tell the following anecdote
(unfortunately witnessed personally on North West Tonight but transcript taken from http://snipr.com/1wyjnd [www_fanhouse_co_uk] )
"I took my wife on holiday up in Scotland and I had a lot of driving to do and I wanted her to relax," said Holloway.
"She bought me Kenny Dalglish's book but in cassette form before CDs. It was absolutely fantastic hearing his dulcet tones telling me about his life. Up in Scotland as well – how fitting was that?

Wow, he's such a considerate husband, isn't he? To be fair, I can think of nothing my Mrs would find more relaxing to listen to on a long car journey than King Kenny's autobiography, from his own lips...

He really has put himself in no-man's land with his comments.
The Blackpool chairman may want the money and sees 5 million as fair. Gollum pipes up saying he's worth 14/16 million so in walks Adam's agent asking to be paid the salary of a player worth 14/16 million (as per Kevin Gage's earlier post).
I'm pretty sure his chairman would have told him is time now to shut the fuck up. He's made his position clear. Yet the pillock still drivels on. He's a man that's about to have his only rug pulled out from under him and I suspect a major melt-down is very close.
And very funny! :)

Personally I found it a bit vomit inducing when Holloway and GH were bidding for King Kenny's affection this week. Holloway with the above and other examples, and GH referring to 'my friend Kenny Dalglish' in the wake of Egghead's latest diatribe. All sounded a bit O'Leary/ Ellis to me and their penchant for name-dropping/ collecting imaginary friends.
I haven't heard King Kenny mentioning either of them. He doesn't give a shit.
-
Do you think Holloway ever has "evaluated" his wife ?? Conversation : This arab has just offered me two camels for you, but i think you are worth four camels and an elephant ! Why can`t anyone see your true value ..........

Reading a blackpool forum their comments on Adam seem to be sensational for half a game, missing in action for the other half.
-
Well, well, well
Blackpool manager Ian Holloway has admitted he will get a share of any profit made on the sale of Charlie Adam if the midfielder leaves the club.
Full story: The Sun
-
Was just about to post that. Now it all becomes clear.
"I do get rewarded with anybody I coach and make a profit on.
My chairman looked at my record of producing players and helping players and selling them on and he wanted that at Blackpool.
"That's not what I'm doing it for. I'm on a far bigger bonus to keep us in the Premier League and Charlie Adam can help me do that."

Well that settles it then. Offer them a bag or Werthers and a pair of Curly-Wurlys and tell them its their final offer off us. And next time he's in need and sniffing around our kids tell him that we don't want to send them to some half-arsed club.
-
And presumably it's why the distressed little flamimal only offers peanuts prices for players he wants to buy.

Hypocritical Troll.

They call it 'Nick Clegg Syndrome'.
-
He talks about showing no respect with our offer for Adam, whilst simultaneously calling us a half-arsed club and bleeting about our manager every chance he can get. Bangs on about Rooney, wages and loyalty, dumps clubs and runs off to others for a better salary, and here he is scrounging for as much as he can get for a player, simply to line his own pockets with.
The man is the ultimate hypocrite.

That single revelation will take Holloway out of the picture. Oyston can't allow Holloway to have any part of transfer dealings, because no other club will put up with it. Plain conflict of interest.

Are you seriously trying to compare good business practise in companies to that of football clubs? Too many people at football clubs have their noses in the trough to worry about corporate ethics and the like.

Gray wasn't stereotyping.
However, psychologists do say that people subconsciously identify stereotypical behaviour in others that reinforce generalisations.

According to the Beeb story the Wolves fine was suspended. If Holloway gets hit with a straight fine he'll have even more to moan about. Good. His arrogance is starting to show no bounds.
-
I totally agree with Holloway on this one, what he said on TV after we beat them made every sense (even though he has clearly lost the plot recently).
The Prem Lge ask for a 25 man squad at the start of the season, and he picked players from that squad.
If Mancini made 10 changes no-one would comment because he can fall back on 10 well-known players, so it one rule for the wealthy clubs and another one for those who can't afford a back-up squad of full internationals?
And at what point do the league draw the line - 7, 8,9 or 10 changes?
-
The last few pages of this thread have reminded me of my first visit to Ashton Gate back in the 70's when one of the Bristol City hoodlums looked me in the eye and said "'Av I ere now, 'av I ere now you Birmingham bastard".
We all laughed and he went away.
-
I agreed with Holloway too. Though I'm glad to see the fine. You tell teams to pick TWENTY FIVE players they think can do a job in this division. The manager should be able to pick whichever ones he wants from those players.
-

Hay....nothing wrong with saying "Where'zz it too" I sez it all the time now. I's been livin down South for so long now.
Anyway bloody stupid rule, The FA should have not fined Wolves and done away with it then and admitted the ruling is daft and admitted they cocked up. For them still to have this daft rule when you are asked to pick a squad of players just shows what idiots are running the FA. They'll be trying for this 39th game again soon.
Now where'zz may cuppar tay too.

He's turning into enough of a complete twat to be a perfect sidekick at Man Utd for Ferguson. Wouldn't be surprised if he ends up over there. Of course he won't have the cojones to resign - the spineless shortarse.
-
let's see if he's got the balls to stick to his original threat.
Oooooh sticky balls! Chase me.
-
OK, I won't do the accent, but.....
Like many others, I'm behind Holloway on this, and only this, matter of the weakened team. It is picking on the small clubs as when Man Utd do it they wouldn't dare point the finger at Fergie. More than that though, if they are going to try and implement it there needs to be clearer boundaries as otherwise it's opinion based only. Blackpool made 10 changes (I think) for the game against us. If that's not allowed then should Gezza have been fined for making three against Wigan? If that is allowed, then set the number somewhere in between and stick to it for all clubs.
-
to be fair though, all managers agreed to keep the rule at the start of the season...
not that i agree with it, as it makes a mockery of the 25 man squad rule, but if they all agreed to it, then there cant really be any complaints...
-
Prior to his unwarranted sniping at our club, I would have been behind Holloway 100%, now I hope he bleats and they double the size of his fine for dissent.
Fuck him and the combine harvester he rode in on.

I cant stand the prick but I'm 100% with him on being able to pick who he likes from his squad. It really isnt anybody else's business and I cant really see how it can be quantified and enforced. For one thing, it's based on opinion and you can't really enforce a law based on opinion.
So somebody else's opinion of Blackpool's players and their ability has led to this and it's wrong and dodgy ground at best.
Arsenal or Chelsea could field a different eleven but it would still be a strong team. Just because smaller clubs dont have the resources to attract top players as reserves it shouldnt mean they are punished for it. Otherwise they have to play the same team over and over again, to their detriment, whereas the bigger clubs can rest their top players without fear. No, I'm sorry, that's bollocks.
I think the Premier league have to rethink this one, apologise to Wolves and Blackpool and reimburse them.
Now, with that out of the way, we should bid £4,525,000 for Adam. :)
-
He's got to tender his resignation, he promised he would so he has to.
He is man of such high morales that he HAS to stick to his word, what would his friend King Kenny think of him if he didn't.
Resign you mole looking bastard.

If we also throw in a years subscription to Farmers Weekly, that might just swing it!

No such luck, he'll fudge it by saying
'The chairman and fans were begging me to stay, I couldn't let them down by walking away.'
Let's not forget his transfer cut of the profits, worth a nice wad.
It's the same deal Barry Fry had when he was at Southend and Fry made a nice earner when he sold Collymore to Forest.
-
He has to at least put it to his Chairman, so we can through the whole 'Chairman has rejected it, they needs me they do' bollocks.
Then we can point out to Blackpool fans and every time he opens his trap that they have such a great manager, he was willing to walk away from them in the middle of their biggest season. Builds a team then would be prepared to leave...nice, can't talk about loyalty after that.
Doesn't really say much about his feelings for Blackpool if he was prepared to leave them because of a dispute with the F.A.
He doesn't offer resignation = Liar
He does offer resignation = Judas bastard.
(That's how I would like to view it any way.)
-
He might even play the card of
'The Blackpool community have done very well since we've been promoted and a lot of the businesses begged me to stay.'
-
With regards to the "understrength" side issue - I'm surprised no lawyer has offered to represent any of the clubs against the Premier League on it - I think if that were to happen the clubs would win.
-
The whole thing's mad. I mean, if Man Utd made two changes but those two changes happened to be dropping Rooney and Berbatov and playing John O'Shea and Tomasz Kusczak up front, that would weaken their team by a far more significant margin than Blackpool weakened theirs to play us, but would that be investigated? No, and not just because they're Man Utd.
It's stupid. If a manager feels like making 11 changes, he should be able to make 11 changes. It's a completely out-of-date practice on the part of the Premier League and should be dispensed with.
-
I thought it was the Premier League that fined them, not the FA?
-

Not resign = A bit too gobby at the time
Does resign = Man of his word
For me the rule needs changing there are countless example of big 4 teams making multi changes before big Euro matches - where's the balance?
-
The rule is a bit of a nonsense to be honest. What if, for example, a team lost heavily at home playing their perceived "best" 11 and the managers response, to try and get a result and teach a few people a lesson, is to pick a totally different 11 in the next game. Would he be fined?
Surely managers have to be allowed to pick within their 25 man squad to try and get results.
I'm sure every manager wants his team to win every Premier League match and picks teams accordingly, so this weakening the competition stance is absolute bollocks.
-
I thought it was the Premier League that fined them, not the FA?
Whoops, correction made. It's still massively out of date. With the squad game what it is these days, and many if not most clubs actually unable to pick a 'best 11', for the League to try and pick for them is ridiculous.
-
I might be wrong about this but i think Arsenal made about 8 changes for a league game not long back. I don;t see the F.A charging them.
-
i think its to stop the situation developing whereas the teams at the bottom or those who premiership survival is the only thing that matters,
cant just throw, ie play there weakest teams against all the the top sides and save them for games where they feel they can win,
i think this is what Mcarthy did against Man Utd, he threw the game, new he couldnt win it so didnt even bother trying,
now you times that by all the struggling teams and you have a farce of a premiership,
might as well just form two sepperate leagues if theres no competition.
i know one game in isolation ie Blackpool or Wolves can look a bit stupid,
but if this becomes the norm for struggling sides we havent got a proper competition just a lottery.
i'm not saying this is about to happen, but i think thats the reason the rule still applies
-
I know the top sides do it, but when they do it they still tend to win so it doesn't affect the teams around them in the same way as a side fighting relegation. They put out a side expecting to still get the 3 points and be able to rest players. It is completely different to Wolves doing it at Man U before a game against West Ham as they gave up on the game thinking they would lose it and didn't want to risk injuring players for a more important game for them. It is kind of the same for Blackpool - although they probably woiuld have won if they had put out their strongest eleven.
But because of how early it was in the season its questionable as to whether it is the same as Wolves. I think he should have just got away with it on that basis, but the Premier League set themselves a precedent that meant they had no choice but to fine them.
-
I don't agree with Holloway on a lot of things lately, but I do entirely on this one. This really is judgement against smaller clubs and it is totally unfair. If you have a 25 man squad rule, then any team should be able to the players they feel will suit them in any game.
-
Surely managers have to be allowed to pick within their 25 man squad to try and get results.
That line there should end any debate. It's ridiculous... why impose a 25-man squad limit if managers are then not able to select from that 25 without fear of being fined? They're all classed as first team players, I don't see the problem.
Holloway's p****d me off the last couple of weeks but I think this is very harsh.
-
so all the posters who think a manager should be able to pick whatever team he likes from the 25,
will have no complaints if say Wigan/Wolves/Blackpool next season decide to target ONLY the games against fellow strugglers and play there top strongest side against them,
and against ManUtd, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs and Man City they put out there kids and weakest 2nd and 3rd choice players in all positions when they play them home and away in every game they play against them.
vurtually handing the points over before they even start, ie throwing the game.
would make it very difficult to get into the top 6 if they were vurtually guaranteed a load of points before the season even starts.
dont think it couldnt happen, managers have absolutley no scruples, and will only ever think of there own skin and not the longterm good of football
-
The rule is vague at best and unfair in practice. Also, it was 2-2 until the last minutes when we played Blackpool. Would this have come up had they held on for a point? I doubt it. And the daft little troll would be hailing himself as a tactical genius.
-
its a muddy waters issue. Look at the result Wolves got against Chelsea. Or Blackpool against Liverpool (both times) Even Blackpools second eleven were a pretty good outfit, coupled with them playing their hearts out in a drive to get picked. I dont think the manager buys anyone to fill up the 25 positions, they have to justify the purchase and wages. So on that, it should be down to them who they pick to play. Who is the FA to say what the best or poorest player for each position is, or for that matter decide against the managers tactics (he may wish to play second choice defender in a certain game as said player may suit the opposition). Who polices the police? On the other hand, Golloway raised concerns by swapping all of the players in one go. A better rotation system (ie opoosite to MON's) would have meant that no-one noticed. Only himself to blame. I wonder if he has to pay the fine out of his cut of Charlie Adams sale. Which smacks a bit of insider trading
-
Does he get a cut of the fine?

It wont happen, the fans will stop going surely.
Once in a while it happens and that angers the fans, ie us last season. I know Wolves fans who were pissed off with it last year. If it happens regularly the fans will not be turning up, gates go down and in the long run that is no good for any club.

that'l be a first then, clubs thinking about the fans,
i'm not saying its about to happen,
but when you have clubs playing weakened sides against top clubs so they can put out stronger teams against there peers at the bottom, we are on a slippery slope,
if it becomes more and more acceptable other than the as you say 'one off' game, then footballs on its way down the toilet
-
I hope it does not happen, surely though clubs can not afford half (or even less that that) full stadiums for a large percentage of fixtures.
Your quite if this does happen it will be going further down the pan than it already is.
-
Would we be fined for fielding this team? We're at home to Wigan and have a midweek trip to the Emirates three days later...
Guzan
Walker Cuellar Clark Baker
Albrighton NRC Bannan Downing
Delfouneso Gabby
We've picked our No.2 keeper, left both our first choice CBs on the bench, played our reserve LB, left our two strongest central midfielders out of the starting line-up, left out our leading two front players, along with Emile Heskey.
-
No, because its still a mostly first-team team.

EXCLUSIVE: Holloway WILL resign over fine
By Steve Canavan
Published on Fri Jan 28 11:42:47 GMT 2011
KARL Oyston has vowed to “fight to the death” to keep Ian Holloway at Blackpool when the manager offers his resignation.
Holloway repeatedly threatened to quit if the club was punished because of his 10 team changes for the 3-2 defeat at Aston Villa in November – and yesterday the Premier League hit Pool with a £25,000 fine.
Holloway remained true to his word, telling The Gazette late on Thursday night: “He (the chairman) will be getting my resignation because that is how strongly I feel. It is up to him whether he chooses to take it.
“I don’t know who I am working for. I have done the best job I could for this club and have tried to win every single game, including the game at Aston Villa.”
But Oyston made his position perfectly clear. “I absolutely would not accept his resignation and I would fight to the death to keep him in his post,” said the chairman. “He has done fantastically well and deserves to manage at this level for ever.
“It would be absolutely ridiculous if Ian felt compelled to resign because of what is an unjust decision and he shouldn’t compound that by stopping doing what he is doing so well.”

Its just as well this doesn't apply to European games or we would owe a fortune.
-
Although if Wigan beat that team, getting three points and thereby condemning West Ham to relegation instead, would the Hammers have reason to complain by citing the fact we left out Friedel, Luke Young, Collins, Dunne, Warnock, Petrov, Makoun, Ashley Young, Darren Bent, Emile Heskey?
I agree, that team of ours is still relatively first team and all we've done is use our squad to the full. As Blackpool did. It's just that our overall squad is stronger than Blackpool's.... but effectively we've still fielded an understrength team there. It could be argued.
It's a really difficult thing to judge, unless you play your youth team. A lot of grey areas involved, I think.
-
Its just as well this doesn't apply to European games or we would owe a fortune.
Not so, because the money made from making the groups stages offsets the...oh.
-
Breaking News (yellow bar thing): Holloway is going to resign for real!
What a pathetic, little drama queen walking out on Blackpool like that.
-
He isnt walking out because he knows his chairman wont accept it, and he wont quit, so it's nothing more than a weak gesture.
-
i think theres a case for Holloway and Blackpool for many reasons,
not least because they were playing Villa who were playing crap at the time, and he probably thought he could get a result against such a half arsed team
as for Mick Mcarthy and Wolves, he sent out a under strengh side to lose against Man Utd,
he made 10 changes so he could hold back his strongest players to play Burnley a few days later which he won, some would argue that he did the right thing,
i say he cheated,
and if he was allowed to do it once, he might well do it a dozen times next season against the top 6, and turn the whole league into a circus
-
what an attention seeking little nobend...
his "resignation" is just a publicity stunt...
"oil quits, sayf en th nollige that moi chaiyrrrremun wunt aksept et... oim a fekkin jeeeniuss"
-
What would have happened if Blackpool had got the point they deserved against us? Beacause as I recall, they played us off the park for long periods.
-
I can undertstand why he want's to make a 'point', but he's going completely the wrong way about making his point.
It's a moronic rule which makes no sense but resigning is just his attention seeking, drama queen act coming out.
-
After what he's been saying about us lately, it would be quiet ironic if he lost job due to the game at our place
-
I wish he'd just keep quiet got a day or so, he's more of a media whore than Katie Price. Come back Phil Brown all is forgiven.
-

When at the start of the season,he came across as a breathe of fresh air,now he's an annoying attention seeker. Everybody knows he wont quit, the media shouldnt even bother reporting it.

Holloway played a weakened team against us because he wanted to keep some players fresh for the "more winnable" game against West Ham 3 days later, it was exactly the same reasoning.
-
I thought this publicity seeking little shit would do a token resignation offer.
-
I've had enough of him.
I WOULD piss on him if he was on fire, providing i'd drunk a bottle of Absinthe.
-
Dear Gollom, Why be Liverpool Precious and Villa Nauseous? Bad balti after you played for Brizzol Rovers at Fellows Park in nineteen eighty summat? Will you buy second breakfast with your ill gotten gains from Charlie's odyssey, doubled thanks to your Ork-like abuse of the Villa?
-
The best scenario here is that he has an agreement in place with his chairman to NOT accept his resignation. But then MON knocks on the door looking for work and the resignation is accepted after all.
Then MON gets them relegated.
I'd quite like to see that happen.
-
At the end of the day. if the F.A tell a club to name a squad of 25 players, then the manager should be able to choose within that squad of 25 players. It really is as simple as that.
-
Its a difficult one, because at what point do you decide that a club has thrown a game?
So a club puts out thier weakest team against manure because they have a more winnable fixture on the next tuesday, then at the end of the season they need the points and are playing Chelsea so they put the strongest team out, it can undermine the competition
-
Fellow a forum-ers, come back after you have been on the Blackpool away day February 12 2011. That town makes you go mad and get desperate to leave.
-
I'm glad Holloway got fined solely because he's become such a big prat over the last few weeks. On the issue itself, though, for tonight's FA Cup game Man Utd have made 8 changes to the team which beat Blackpool in the week. Hands up anyone who thinks SRAlex will get fined.
-
I hope it's a double bluff by Oyston.
"Surprise, divy! I accept!"
-
At the end of the day. if the F.A tell a club to name a squad of 25 players, then the manager should be able to choose within that squad of 25 players. It really is as simple as that.
This is exactly right. All clubs were asked to name the squad and should be allowed to use it as they see fit. the FA are twats for doing this.
-
I hope it's a double bluff by Oyston.
"Surprise, divy! I accept!"
Me too, especially funny if it meant he'd miss out on his cut of the Charlie Adam fee after trying to talk it up for the last few weeks.
-

Agree with this.

What Charlie Adam fee? Both us and Liverpool have completely lost interest. We are trying to sign Bradley and Liverpool are now more concerned with keeping Torres. I think that neither team particularly needs to spend £8-12million on him and as such Holloway has talked and priced a player who seems to want to leave out of a move.
FWIW people up here, in particular those in the Scotland national team set up think that Bannan is or at least will be much the better player and that he should get chances ahead of Adam in the club and national sides. I think we should stick with the Scottish Xavi we already have.
