Title: Cricket 2011 Thread
Post by: VillaZogmariner on January 05, 2011, 11:23:42 AM
Thought I'd start a new one for the new year.

For those of you not watching the SA v India match, watch this -

How the bail stays on is amazing.

Didn't that happen to Tremlett too a few years back?

Fantastic umpiring though.

Brilliant umpiring and  I never had that sort of luck  when I played. I am convinced in my case bails came if the ball passed within a foot ogf them!

Mate of mine says Warwickshire are only offering memberships on a five year basis.  Can anyone confirm this

He's wrong, you can buy either one year or six year memberships.

Great delivery and quality umpiring but I guess it is easy to see the bails fly off, talking of Warwickshire who have the signed as OS players this season?

Ian Bell is playing brilliantly. Long may it continue.

I had a look at the unsold players from the first day and, aside from Chris Gayle, they all seemed to be English! Bizarre, considering we're world champions.

Must be the limited avaliability due to England playing Sri Lanka in May,

I suppose you're right, but I'd rather spend my indian dollars on Swann than KP and he's been sold.

I've got a question about the IPL; Does the bid money go to the player as his salary? if not what kind of money are these guys making ?

I read somewhere that pro rata IPL players are the highest paid sportsmen after the NFL guys

I had no idea they had made the floodlights permanent at Edgbaston, I see the local residents are not happy but they don't look that bad.

Morgan out of World Cup, is a big blow. But I think Bopara is a potential match winner.

I don't. They're fucked. Come on Anyone But Australia! Can the Bears make a bid for Gayle if the Indians don't want him please?

Bopara might give the side more balance, certainly he's capable of taking a wicket.

You could finish up with:

Strauss
Prior
Trott
KP
Bell
Bopara
Yardy
Wright
Swann
Broad
Anderson

although I've a feeling Yardy might miss out in favour of another quick.

I agree with Bopara coming in for Collingwood, although I'd have Broad for Wright. Also I like Prior being in the team, but not an opener. However we don't appear to have much choice!
