Blackburn at home for me was the highlight of our year; meant a great deal to all our kids to have their first Wembley trip in the bank.
Apart from a saturday league unbeaten promotion season the rest of last year can *uck off as far as I'm concerned.
Happy New Year to you all Villa fans.

Villa related: the trip to Wembley for the cup final. Mainly because we spent the whole weekend down there, enjoying a few beers around London.
Non Villa related: the birth of my son. Although he's already got 3 Villa kits, a flag above his cot and we had a tour of the ground for Father's day. So I suppose it's slightly Villa related!

the blackburn semi at home and the 2nd half at reading- lowest without doubt 6-0 at newcastle , our other thrashings were against half decent teams , but 6 -0 at newcastle was pathetic!

The trips to Wembley were great apart from the results obviously.. sigh was that really only this year? how far we have fallen!
Had a great a great trip around Germany apart from a certain sunday afternoon where i found a pub to watch villa and i happened to be be the only villa fan surrounded by Geordie's ....how i chuckled :-[

Highs:
Cup runs
Dodgy penalty vs SHA
Emerging young talent.
Emile Heskey playing well
Lows:
MON
Losing the FA Cup semi final
The decline of the team since GH took over and the appalling attitude of experienced players.
Robert Pires
The disgrace in and around the Sty in the cup game.

Villa related High : Wembley for the Carling Cup Final - my Sons first trip to Wembley so there were 3 generations of us on Wembley Way - even Phil Dowd couldn't ruin that for us.
Non Villa related high : taking my FA badges and running my Sons under 8s football side / my 4 yr old daughters nativity play.
-
Low: Losing at Anfield and consistently playing the ball sideways behind the half way line as if WE were playing for time.
I have seen some crap played by Villa over the years but never seen that defeatism.
High: Ok cups an' all. But watching us outplay United was a treat. Thought we had cracked it then. And the emergence of the youngsters through a very impressive youth/reserve set up.
-
High (Villa): 6-4. Made me feel 10 years old again and simultaneously aged me fifty years!
Low (Villa): Milner leaving. Though it was inevitable, it was obvious we'd lost the player that gelled the team together and I knew we were in the shit.
High (non-Villa): Finding the job I'm doing now. It's turned me into a completely different person.
Low (non-Villa): Breaking up with my girlfriend. Looked back at my diaries for that period the other day. Scary stuff.
-
Highs: the cup runs we had culminating in that 10 goal thriller against Blackburn.
Lows: Losing in the Final/Semi Final at wembley, MON, the results so far under GH.

Villa High - Reading 2nd half - first time me and my son had bonded with the Villa scoring.
Villa Lows - This season....
Other High - Messi's 3rd against Arsenal. Barca were breathtaking that night.
-
Villa High - 25/4/2010 Beat the Blues 1-0 and reach our highest points total since the 42 game 92/93 season. 2 games to go and level on points with Spurs in 4th.
Villa Low - 22/07/2010 1st day of pre-season. General Krulak returns from his summer hols with the message "...What we see right now is the Club getting a handle on the wage side of the house. This is no different than what we have done once before. This means we have to sell some players...".
-
Villa High- It's a tough one, either Blackburn in the 2nd leg Semi, Reading away when we were 2-0 down or beating Man Utd at Old Trafford and getting called a wanker by a Man Utd fan on the way out. It still makes me smile now. Dublin in pre-season was a cracking day as well.
Non Villa- Walking round the Grand Canyon ( which was awesome) and pulling up outside Vinny's Jones's house in Beverley Hills and wondering how a man of such little talent could afford to live in such a place. I was cross.
-
VH:Going to Wembley twice. Palace away, Blackburn semi final
VL: being knocked out of Europa and out of CC by Small Heath
NVH: Going to SA for two Joburg QF matches.
NVL: England not being in the above and England v Germany how embarrassing specially as I work with lot of Germans
-
Villa high: Getting to a final and taking the lead
Villa low: Being 5th from bottom.
Non Villa High: Vassell getting a league club.
Non Villa Low: The World Cup.

I had a tear in my eye that day I can tell ya. ;)

Villa Highs: Reaching the LC final again / Deano putting us two up at home to Manu
Villa Lows: Losing the final / And getting knocked out in the qtrs this season.
Non-Villa High: The current Ashes success
Non-Villa Low: Kevin Phillips equalising in stoppage time for Small Heath against Brentford in the LC- if he hadn't WE could have lost gracefully (and with less embarrassment) at Brentford in the Qtr Final and had a proper allocation for the lge game The Sty in a few weeks time.

I'm glad to see the back of 2010. It wasn't a good year for me personally, 2009 was much better. Here's to a much better 2011...
Villa Highs: League Cup semi final second leg win against Blackburn, getting to Wembley twice and the 2-2 draw against united seemed to point to a bright new future with great young players with a good strategic philosophy....seems to have stalled somewhat since then.
Villa Lows: The way MON walked out on us, losing James Milner and the inevitability about it, the pathetic refereeing we faced at Wembley and the drubbings at Chelsea, Newcastle, Liverpool and Man City.
Non villa highs: Met some great people earlier this year who are now good friends, I also made fairly good progress academically and of course another high was writing a match review of a pre-season friendly for H&V!
Non villa lows: I had a few fall outs with people this year that I regret, watching a world cup without Ireland, some mistakes with women. 2010 was a year where I felt some old teenage hangups creep back in. I'm hoping to get back on track this year.

Lows: aftab235 not contacting me to share a pint in South Africa. Yes you!
