http://www.monitor.co.ug/Sports/Soccer/-/690266/1074624/-/lpeyo6/-/ nice to know that we have inspired such a successful club. maybe we could join up with them and test out a few top african players and give them stephen ireland in return, sound about right for each other.

I've got to ask the question - how the hell did you come across this?
-

you mean you don't read the ugandan press everyday sunday morning?

You might get more replies if you change the thread title to something a bit more meaningful.

Good stuff villainjock and well found. Allegations of bribery and sodomy ? Crikey !!! At least the sodomy was unfounded !!! An interesting article. Has anyone noticed that the photo was credited to Chicco ? Sometimes its a small world.

I take it life expectancy in Uganda must be pretty low-lots of RIP's in that article

The sodomy allegation was just a bit of back stabbing. The rumours were not that wide spread and after lack of penetration were withdrawn by the ring leader! :D

From their website...
"Villa rose from the ashes of their present-day rivals – Express. When the dictator Idi Amin banned Uganda’s oldest club in 1978, one of the directors, a long time Aston Villa fan, proffered the name as an alternative. Emerging in the league’s second division, Villa were permitted to sign a maximum of four Express players as well as attracting many of its supporters. After Amin fled the country in 1979, Express was reborn but the new club, with its own unique philosophy, decided to continue.
Cockerels, Rhinos and rock stars
Three years later, while their namesake’s were lifting the European Cup, the new club were promoted to the top flight where an intense rivalry was born with the club they had sprouted from. In a league comprising the likes of KCC, Scoul, Horizon, Big Cockerel, Rock Star and Black Rhino, it was the more familiar football name of Villa that has been inscribed on the majority of recent championship trophies."

VILLA PARK,
"SC Villa officials are angry that once again The New Vision has chosen to roll the club in mud by concocting an ugly story about the team’s recent trip to Malawi. In the Saturday gossip column, HAVE YOU HEARD, the paper claimed a top Villa official had indulged in sexual escapades with ladies of the night in Blantyre.
There were no such cases – and the club President Francisco Mugabe, who led the team, has confirmed to Villa Online that there were no cases of indiscipline involving players or officials in Malawi. As a matter of fact, the team did not even stay at the hotel The New Vision claims the sex scandals took place."
Sounds a bit like a night out with John Carew!

I can't believe a bloke called Mugabe would get up to any mischief.
