Title: The Fans reaction Saturday
Post by: sfx412 on December 09, 2010, 11:49:59 AM
So what will the fans reaction to Houllier be on Saturday ?

It strikes me as a no win situation, for all parties and like the time Mon criticised fans for booing, its hard to see what will be the best way forward for all parties involved.

The club can't ban those they feel will upset the applecart or close the ground until the atmosphere gets better, and the way things are going any complaint from fans will be seen as a negative to the teams performance.
I'm sure as always the 11 who kick off will get their full quota of support as usual, that's how we do things as Villa fans, but its a potential powder keg for sure.

He's the thread-starter.

Twisted thread-starter.

Depends on the result.

If we lose, it won't be pretty!

If we lose I'll be nowhere near this site until Monday, I don't think I could take another outpouring of emotion from the drama queens.

The supporters will be fired up for this one and i've a feeling the players will be too.

Being a derby should help, if it was Wigan or similar at home there may be more focus on the manager from the fans, but I feel the majority will be more concerned with the 11 on the field and getting one over on an old rival.  The players should be up for it too and we must start strongly and take the game to them.  If we lose he'll gets loads of stick though, and so should the players.

Agree, but we'll still get Warnock giving away a needless freekick which they will equalise from.

There was a queue of players on the OS saying how they'd be "up for it" after the Blues defeat.  End result at Liverpool?  The lamest, most half-arsed display I've seen in years.

I notice you've not included the manager in this. Intentional?

Actions speak louder than words. Which is why I never read a word of all of this 'We must get a result' bollocks from players, whether we are doing well or not. Had they pl,ayed their socks off on Monday and the result was the same, there would have been nowhere near the reaction. I tend to think the same about Saturday. If we go out and play well, but lose, its shit but you cant ask a lot more.

I want a reaction from the players, couldnt give a toss about Houllier.

I hope the reaction will be to get behind the team right from the start. If they give us another performance like monday night it won't be pretty.

Play like the second half against united & I'll be happy.

He doesn't need to be fired up, he just needs to make sure that the players are.

We should really put Monday behind us, and hopefully everyone will be fully behind the team.

Being Albion, I think that this will be different.
I remember how chronic we were in GT MK2's season, we played Albion and came out firing against them.

Reception will be lukewarm at the start. If things go well, he'll have no problems. If things go badly, it will be very, very bad.

Can't speak for the others, but my reaction will be to wrap up warm, moan if Carew's in the squad, tut inwardly every time a professional player fails to control the ball, tut outwardly every time a defender launches the ball aimlessly forward, and jump up and down like an idiot when we score. Oh, and I might just stamp my feet a bit more than usual, being a derby... and being so pissing cold.
Such fun we have, can't wait.

Agreed. Can you imagine the reaction if we're losing and the Albion fans start sing "You're going down with the Dingles"? It won't be pretty.

To be honest, its not about Houllier on Saturday, its about us and the team.  If either don't perform, we don't stand a chance and unfortunately Houllier takes the rap.

True but we needn't worry, we'll beat them 2-0.

reality check is looking at the table.  Not the position we currently hold, but the handful of points from us to european positions.  Good results and performances will come.  It will take longer now for Houllier to gain "the love", but one or two decent signings, holding on to Young and a good run and life will look very different.

my thoughts exactly we arent bloody liverpool fans and we shouldnt turn on our own. GH needs time and support, a throw-away comment about a former club changes nothing. boo's and groans will do nothing and we will end up in a relegation fight if we screw our own team up. If the fans do everything they can to get behind the team and they still produce shite like that then we are doomed!

Any loss will be inflame opinion because its a local derby, and a local derby against an opposition we see as being inferior than us. Probably because a) they are, and b) we have been top dogs for a good while now. It won't change the overall situation which should be looked at in Jan/Feb should this worrying lack of form continue unabated until then, or until the summer should we be as bad as 16th or 17th, or next season should we just have an average season finishing mid-tableish.
