They said "Proud History, Bright Future". They didn't say which team. Norwich seem to be on the up. Perhaps them.

The 'Proud History' was always there.  The 'Bright Future' was the spin.

Feels like all the progress we made under MON has been for nothing.  Back to square one.

'Proud history, bright future'

It's up there with

'We're in this together'

I don't care about:
stars on badges
renovated pubs
coaches to Chelsea
pictures of european cup winners team

I do care about:
losing our manager
selling our best midfielders
battling relegation

And I know I know, Randy and co have done much more than the above and have invested in players in the first 3 years. But we have not signed anyone (apart from being lumbered with Ireland) since the summer of 2009. I still want to know why MON left and why we have sold our best midfielders two years running. I am also a little tired of never hearing from Randy - why can't he show some leadership when its needed. He seems like a quiet Doug at the moment.

I think losing our two best players has something to do with a 40 grand a week payrise.

I think we all know that MON left due to the Milner deal and the lack of funds without selling the likes of Sidwell and Co.

He is no Doug, but I agree; quiet is not good when we're sinking like the Titanic week by week.

To be fair, would you give MON the money to waste again?? The utter shite he spent on players to sit id the bench, if i was Randy id have told him where to go. Maybe the Ireland deal had something to do with KevMac trying to do something good for the club. As people mention he may just come good but thats another thread. I heard were getting 30 mil to spend in jan, which wouldnt surprise me. I say keep the faith and see how were doing in January
If you remember even O'Dreary took us to 6th in his 1st season when we were battling relegation at christmas time..

Hope you're right. And i am letting of steam more than anything else. I would have MON back in a heart beat though. Those thinking that Houllier was going to take us to another level reminds me of Charlton fans thinking that once Curbishley had gone they'd be able to challenge for the Champions League. And yes I know we're not Charlton, but we're doing a bloody good impression at the moment.

Read the history. Listen to the old men's yarns of days gone by. Forty years ago we were in the Third Division. Ten years later we were European champions. That's the delight of it all. The unpredictability, the depressions, the elations, the friendships forged in adversity and triumph. The great soap opera that is Aston Villa - and you have a part in it.

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;

Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

Or is that the answer to the thread, "I wonder what Randy is thinking"

Jack Hayward syndrome is kicking in here already.  Unbelievable.

i have always thought rudyard kipling was full of shit! He was the one who had taliking panthers and bears isnt he! If is a desperate poem about possibilities!
I would prefer a poem about a chairman who got his chequebook out and a manager that does not see an image of Franz Beckenbauer in Richard Dunne! My 9 year old who was freezing with me at anfield last night even noted that richard dunne should not be given the ball to try and start playing so why the fuck can houllier not see it! Damn Shambles and rudyard can get fucked too!

There once was a man called Randy
Who wrote a cheque that came in handy
The next time we won
The manager dropped Dunne
And all ended up fine and dandy

I still back Randy but the board haven't covered themselves in glory since August tbh and they're probably getting the season they deserve for that.

Hopefully this is a wake up call, I expect quite a bit of money to be made available in january.
