Happy Birthday ,Paul, 51today.
One of the best ever in claret and blue.
-
Happy Birthday God.
-
Happy birthday to a true legend.
-
Many happy returns I hope.
Hopefully he is sitting quietly at home with nothing stronger to drink than a cup of tea.
-
Feck me...my heart was racing a bit when I read the thread title. Thought something might have happened to him. 51...still a lot to live for. Hope he reminds himself of that when he needs to.

His best ever performance yeah, but what was his best Villa game?
-
Happy Birthday Paul (GOD) McGrath
-
I remember him scoring an own goal versus QPR at loftus Road. His status at the club was such that the o.g. was celebrated as if it was a Villa goal.
It was possibly the same game where a very young dwight yorke received so much abuse from villa fans that I amazed he stayed at the club as long as he did. He was pretty much universally slated.
I'm not sure whether those events actually happened, but for whatever reason that is how I remember it.

I know there is religeon in sport, Paul McGrath truely is the son of god, in Sid sits at his right hand
-
Happy Birthday, God. Best Villa player I've ever seen, by a country mile.
-
Just finished reading Back From The Brink today. Happy Birthday Macca. Without a doubt the best player I've ever seen wear the shirt.
I wish some of the divs at the back of the Holte were able to read and then they might think twice before constantly singing the "on the piss" nonsense...
-
True villa legend :) Happy birthday m'lord
-
Happy birthday to a true legend.
Cheers! And happy birthday to McGrath too.
-
You're only a whippersnapper compared to the Almighty, Risso.
-
I bloody loved that bloke, happy birthday Paul, and may you see many more.
-
I wonder if he's available for Monday night?
-
Happy birthday and many more to come Paul (m,lord)
strewth we could really do with you now!!!
-
Happy Birthday Lord McGrath, our defenders now are not fit to lace his boots!
-
Happy Birthday God. Hope you have many more. Best player I've ever seen pull on a Villa shirt.
-
Sorry if I caused anyone's heart to miss a beat with the ambiguity of the thread title, It was not intentional.
I was just flicking through the book "The Villans - A day to day life", by Graham Betts, as I logged on to H and V .
As probably Villas greatest living player I thought it worthy of a mention.
What a boost it would be to the development of the youngsters coming in to the first team, to have Paul McGrath in the line up.
-
Happy Birthday To Paul McGrath :) He is a joy to watch. He gave me most pleasure to watch him in action compare to other footballers.
I hope we are trying to teach our young defenders to play football the Paul McGrath way.
-
One of the greatest centre halves ever to play the game. ;D
He's right up there with legends likes of Beckenbauer, Moore, Baresi, Scirea, Wright, Charles, Hansen and Lawro. He was really trhat good. 8)
In the modern era, only Fabio Cannavaro comes anywhere near McGrath's quality. I reckon he could do a job in the Premier League even now in his late 30's.
-
Happy Birthday Paul (God)McGrath a true Villa Legend.
-
Legend.
-
Happy Birthday Paul..................
-
Happy Birthday Paul. A true Villa legend.
-
I bloody loved that bloke, happy birthday Paul, and may you see many more.
Me too.
He's the only player who I deliberately went to the top of the Witton Lane stand to watch, just to see how majestic his defending was. All these little claret and blue dots yet one stood out, just superb.
Happy birthday big man
-
I find that it's impossible for me to watch those videos of Paul, such as the ones posted earlier in this thread, without tears coming into my eyes. You feel the physical pain in those legs and the mental pain in that tortured mind. What a fighter; what a man.
Happy birthday to a remarkable survivor. I hope he is enjoying whatever the life is that he leads now.
-
My heart skipped a beat also!
51? When did he leave Villa? Don't seem that long ago!
Happy Birthday God
-
Feck me...my heart was racing a bit when I read the thread title. Thought something might have happened to him. 51...still a lot to live for. Hope he reminds himself of that when he needs to.
Sadly I thought the same
-
With no game until tomorrow this has been the obvious weekend for organising the christmas tree - and so it came to be that a star was hung at the top of ours.................the wife thinks its a sign of gifts to come but without realising it i am chuffed to know i was marking the birthday of the most special player i have seen in claret and blue. the footage of past performances always makes the eyes go moist - just as the book did. a true legend
-
Wish he was 20 years younger right now...
-
The greatest. Happy Birthday God.
-
Is there any decent footage of Paul McGrath knocking about on the web? I've seen the Italy footage a million times, but I'd like to see some more of his time in claret and blue. I've had a look on youtube and I can't find anything. I was only a nipper when God was blessing us with his presence so I can't remember too many of his games.
-
Best Villa player of my lifetime, after reading his book though it's suprising he's still with us,really hope he can pull his life around once more.
-
He'll always be the greatest to me. (Belated) happy birthday, Paul.
