Title: Villa 1-2 Man United 1993-94 match footage
Post by: Deano's Mullet on November 21, 2010, 11:42:37 AM

I remember this one well, one of the best matches i can ever recall at Villa Park despite the fact we lost the match. We were a little too cavalier at times but the match could honestly have gone either way. Its not often i agree with Fergie but a fabulous match. I also seem to recall the usual croppings of United fans appearing in the Holte and Trinity Roads which was quite a regular problem in those days - i remember it happening against Newcastle as well that same season.

I think Siralux's respect for us (i.e always taking league games against us seriously) must stem from the '92-'94 period when we were rivals. Take me back.

I was in the witton lane that night. Aged 9. My memory of that night is some united fans infront of us. They celebrated Sharpes goal and got clambered when sicknote equalized!

As I remember it, it was the first home game after the death of Tony Barton. The bloke responsible for scouting a good number of the side that won the league. The bloke who, however good a team he took over, took them from the bottom six and the European cup quarter finals to mid table safety and champions of Europe when it could so easily have gone in the opposite direction. I think he got a minutes silence if I remember right. I think he deserved a little bit more than that. People who have done less have had stands named after them.
