http://www.birminghammail.net/news/top-stories/2010/11/19/ex-aston-villa-boss-john-gregory-sells-treasured-reg-plate-97319-27676498/
starting price of £20,000.
-
He's put it on with a starting price of £39000 and there's no bids at the moment with 23½ hours to go.
-
A nice £3900 in ebay fees if it sells :o
-
Each to their own but how do you 'enjoy' a numberplate?

-
Randy must buy it.
-
I think Gabby should.
-
Wedding present from kate to Wills?
-
if you are a strong Aston Villa fan or Spainish property tycoon! Currently owned by Ex Aston Villa personell.
I would like to. However, there is no way I am handing over 40K or more to someone who writes like that.
-
And you get Free P & P and delivery in time for the holidays (what holidays).
I see that recent sales by the same person (Gregory?) are a pair of mens' brogues, size 11, a pair of golf trousers, a nice Blackberry, etc, etc.
-
I noticed he'd bought a job lot of black hair dye.
-
I see the Villa "poppy" shirts are on auction. Albrighton's is the most expensive currently at £770

I am not giving Gregory forty grand

More useful that Carew

Does anyone know if it's possible to check whether a specific number plate has been issued ?
There's a couple that I'd be interested in, eg "R30 SOX"

I bet Hogg is glued to his computer trying to buy his back.
-
Thanks for the links. "R30", which would look like "RED" isn't available. I'm not that surprised really
-
I remember a DVLA man on the radio talking about numberplates. He mentioned this plate, was sold for £37,000.
-
Can I just say, and with all due respect and all that, personalise number plates are strictly for wankers.

He probably can't afford it.

I reckon a few bid on their own shirt- egos and silly wages might influence the odd player to ensure they do not get the least - £12.95 closing price would be a bit of a kick in the knackers!

Me thinks you haven't got one Dave ;-)
Yes, you guessed it !
-
Gabby should have it.
-
Hopefully Randy gets his hands on it, JG must be in need of the cash?

I thought you had T.W.A.T.O.N.E. ?
-
Even Chris Herd's is over £200 now, and he only played about six minutes!

Methinks you need a bit of support Dave. Well you've got it from me 100%. The super-wankers are those that fiddle with the spacing of the letters and numbers and even introduce spurious screw-heads in a desperate attempt to create something meaningful. Prats.
-
Some of those shirts are selling well £770 for Albrighton and Young L is only going for £550

Some wise people are thinking of a long-term investment. Lke we should be.
-
I noticed actually the last couple of games there has been a picture of a numberplate for sale pinned on lamposts around the ground, not the same one is it?

I agree. However, a friend of mine, who at one point in his police career was on the motorways, once said that whilst he was obliged to book people for doing it, in some ways it made the police's job easier: the public were more inclined to remember the number plates of cars that failed to stop after accidents if they were personalised or doctored to spell names, etc.
My thoughts on personalised plates are summed up by documentary I remember watching years ago. They featured the bloke with the reg P3NIS. Needless to say it was affixed to a bright red Bentley.
-
I have a personalised plate... because I wanted it and the other one I had was boring. It is just my initials and day I was born, not spelling a name or out, but I like it.
-
Mine's just my initials and P2 in front.
When I bought it, the registration year was P in the old format, but P1 was £1000 - P2 was £250 !!!

No not the same one sorry

Same here. You don't automatically become a wanker just for being a bit individual
-
I just changed my name by deed poll to X211 JVT ;)

I thought all number plates were individual. ;)

He got his £39,000 then.

I thought all individuals (puberty onwards) were wankers.

Well, durr. You choose your own rather than being given one by some random faceless ageny. Jeez.

Well, thanks!

agreed so of all the things you can spend money on you go "oh look at me i have my initials on my number plate", total wankers
-
I think you may have just insulted a few posters on here.
-
I have a personalised reg. plate, but I'm not insulted. It was a Christmas present that was forced upon me.

'All due respect and all that' ha ha
Nice comment again.

And you'll probably be battered over the head with on a certain person's birthday when she doesn't get a new handbag.

I love that . I also agree with coop though. Sorry Leeg.

I have a modded up Vespa with my initials, followed by the year it was produced and the MOD after it and quite frankly it looks the bollocks

"CH 40 S" ?
-
Does anyone know who stumped up £39k for this plate ??
-
i have a personalised registration plate. i have had to change my name to BK60 APY though..
...... sorry..........
-
I spotted this reg yesterday in Solihull, now on a black 2015 Rolls Royce.
-
Fantastic thread-recycling.
-
Can't remember the exact reg now but there was a pretty obvious Villa related one on a PanzerWanker vehicle on the Queslett Road near the Asda island the other month. It was more noticeable as the car was parked on the main carriageway without hazards on, and with a cop car parked behind it warning traffic about it. No sign of the driver though but both vehicles had disappeared 10 mins later when I walked back that way.
-
I believe John Gregory owned that number plate a few years ago?

starting price of £20,000.

Has the auction finished yet - I might put a late bid in.
-
I got a new company car last year, which was supplied from Ipswich, and by pure change it has an AV72.... number plate. Not sure I'd get £20k for it on ebay though ;D

There must be quite a few cars from the Ipswich area, less than 2 years old sharing a similar number plate prefix..
-
Oh well, must keep up 😀
-
Yes, my mate has an AV57 plate, acquired from the Ipswich area.
-
I hope Alan Brazils next 4WD comes with one the bitter old c unt.
-
**PanzerWanker** vehicle
:-)
I'm thinking oversized German cars, but could you elaborate?

I think it’s the latest description of any reasonably sized SUV 4x4 where a lot of drivers seem to think they own the road like the Wermacht. I think the actual expression is WankPanzer but as I drive one they can fuck off.
-
:-)
I'm sure you're a very considerate, courteous and safe driver though and tut or honk along with the rest of us at the ones you describe.
