0-2 Away win
Bannan 12
Albrighton 16
-
A nice big win.
4-1
Bannan
A Young 2
Agbonlahor
-
Smells like a draw to me. Worried the sane midfield as last weekend would be over powered by blackburn's physical game. Clark could come in, but he may be needed at centre back if dunne's injured. I'm guessing gabby's going to be ok. Bannan and albrighton might be a bit tired?
-
1-1
Another gutting draw like Man Utd & Fulham.
Downing 17
Roberts 87
-
0-3
Albrighton 16
Young 64
Pires 92
-
Got a good feeling about this one. 1-3 to Villa with Gabby, Bannan and Downing scoring.
-
1-2 Ashley Young, Gabby.
-
Blackburn 0 Villa 1
-
3-0 win, Gabby, Downing and Young L. .
-
Bburn 0 - 2 Villa - Gabby 55, Downing 82
-
I fear our young kids in the middle could get bullied out of this one, but i'll go 1-1, Ash for us.
-
We're due an away win.
2-1 Villa
Young7
Gabby
-
Blackburn 1 - 4 Aston Villa. Collins og 47. Young pen 16, 90 Bannon 39, Collins 78.
-
This will go one of two ways. We will either build on last week's performance and win it comfortably, or we will get out muscled and lose two nil.
-
0-2
A Young & Albrighton
-
I fancy us here, their defence aren't the quickest and I can see Downing, Albrighton and Young giving them the runaround.
2-0 (Downing, Gabby)
-
There are 3 days to go so I'm expecting at least 3 more injuries.
Three of the Academy U12s to be promoted and all to score in 5-0 win with old stager Albrighton being hailed as great influence on the nippers.
-
1-1
Cruising only to be pegged back by a late goal from Jason Roberts.
-
2-1 to us. Close game but we just edge it. Albrighton and Gabby for us. Samba for them.
-
I can see this being one of the set backs in our progress and their ugly physical style getting the better of our young ones, 2-1 to them
-
I can see this being a typical Villa performance after a great one and be an average showing. Don't think we'll lose though,1-1.
-
cn this bein a 1-1 draw,Gabby to score early and Pedersen so equalise in second half
-
1-2 Away win.
Feeling alot better after the performance last wekend.
Gabby and Downing for us, Roberts for them.
-
Like Craven Cottage, I always think no matter what form we're in, we can always win at Ewood Park, just not an intimidating an away ground.
I actually think this could be like the Fulham game, we'll take the lead, not kill the game off and they'll score through a late set piece.
1-1.
-
0-3 Dunne hattrick
-
If we don't concede after the 81st minute that'll be something.
-
2-3 away win.
We'll score more than the opponents this time.
Samba & Dunn for them.
Albrighton, Bannan & Young for us.
I noticed they have a keeper called Mark Bunn. I'm looking forward to see a Cunn in their squad soon.
-
If he's fit, and gets a run I think Gabby is due multiple goals in a prem game for only the 2nd time in his career; a hat trick at that. Emerton will probably peg one back.
-
2-1 to us
-
Doesn't all of the ever growing hype around our kids make you feel we're due a frustrating game at Blackburn where we get out muscled? I can imagine exactly how spade face is planning on approaching this game.
-
Gabby, Dunne & Clark hope to be fit for Blackburn (http://www.avfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10265~2223488,00.html)
-
Red card for a Blackburn player and Villa hit them with the pace.... 0-2 Gabby, Downing....
-
Gabby is ready to open his account. 0-2 Gabby, Pires (free kick) ...
-
do you think pires will take a penalty when on pitch..
what the fook was he thinking of ? ;-))
-
God knows.
I blame Henry.
-
Sorry, I can't get excited about the Villa now there's going to be a royal wedding
-
Clark Gabby and Dunne all fit, so Clark in for Hogg.
Nice away win. I fancy Bannan to get a goal he getting more confident with every game.
-
Time for the arch pessimist methinks. We will take the lead early and lose 2-1....
-
...............Friedel
Young Dunne Collins Warnock
Albrighton Bannan Clark Downing
...............Young
..............Agbonlahor
Surely?
-
I'm just worried that Mardi gras head will get their midfield to bite in with the tackles and maybe over run us.
-
I'm just worried that Mardi gras head will get their midfield to bite in with the tackles and maybe over run us.
I thought we were quite competitive and tackled well against Man U, so this holds no great fears for mee.
-
Hopefully Smash them by about 4!! But will probably succumb to their Physical long ball game!!
Blackburn should be in the Championship at best and Allardyce should be in prison for all those dodgey transfer dealings with all the mercenaries he has signed over the years...
-

Very good David.

Yeah thats true, though Utd's main aim is to pass the ball, were as Rovers will try and stop us first, then try and pass. But the younger members of the team should be full of confidence after last week. An early goal could make all the difference.
-
Very concerned about this one, unfortunately I think we'll outplay them and draw.
-
We'll dick em.
-
Are we assuming albrighton is fit?
-
Hope so otherwise I guess Bannan out wide and Hogg and Clark in the middle. Clark and Gabby give us some strength through the spine, I think we'll do alright and win 2-1, Youngy with both, Diouf for them.
-
El Hadji.
-
Pirès comes on as sub after half time to replace A Young.
-
I certainly think he'll play in Young's position off the striker when he does and will allow us to rest one of Young, Downing and Albrighton at times. However I imagine it will be Albrighton more often than not to begin with as he's not as experience as Ash and Downing at preserving his intensity and energy for the full 90. Don't know what it says about Ireland though, I suppose he's Barry's back up until NRC/Petrov/Delph return/ Jan comes around and then I dont know what.
-
They aren't much of a side but Allardyce makes them hard to beat. At the moment I can always see us scoring but conceding as well. If we can improve our ball retention from the last couple of games I can see us doing them 2-1 or 3-1.
-
Injury worries for the centre of defence appear to be un-founded -
Rovers players will be physically stronger especially in midfield but
provided to get the ball down and play it on the grass I can see
a long overdue away win Gabby to grab the winner in a 3-2
-

Careful, it's only 3 games ago that we were going through our longest goal drought since the spring of '92 (apparently).
-
Are we assuming albrighton is fit?
Why are we assuming? Is he injured? When did this happen?
Anyway, 2-1 to us.
-
Pirès comes on as sub after half time to replace A Young.
How about start Pires?
Young is a good player, but he winds me up so much with his diving and being ball greedy and wasteful.
-
Albrighton pulled out of the under 21s injured but no news since.
-
Albrighton pulled out of the under 21s injured but no news since.
I thought he was just "rested"
-
According to the BBC, Blackburn are the worst 2nd half team in the league, with our record for letting late goals in, I'll go for 0-0 half time, 3-3 full time.
-
I see that their takeover has just been completed, so with their new owners probably there for their first home game it's going to be a tough one, as their team will have something to prove.
We've had some great games against them in the last couple of seasons and most of them have been quite open, expansive and good to watch, if not a little nail bitting. I think we're missing that bit of toughness we need in midfield, so our passing will have to be up to scratch, and i'm still worried at our tendency to conceed goals from aerial situations, especially late on. The defence need to sort that out if we are going to pick up a few more points than we have been.
3 - 2 to the Villa, Pires to score the winner with a curling shot from the edge of the box.
-
Collins an injury doubt now. Would be a big loss for this one. Clark at the back and the two midgets in midfield and I'd be a little worried
-
James Collins emerges as doubt ahead of Blackburn clash. http://bit.ly/9CrALM
-
FFS.. the media go on about chelsea and spurs injuries, we have two teams out injured ;-(
-
Who the fuck are we going to play at the back?
-
Friedel
Lichaj - Young - Clark - Wanrnock
Albrighton - Hogg - Bannan - Downing
Ashley - Gabby
Is that where we are now?
-
Think I would be happy with a draw, considering all of the injuries. Back at work on Monday after a week off so if we lose I feel a sicky coming on.
1-1
-
Friedel
Lichaj - Young - Clark - Wanrnock
Albrighton - Hogg - Bannan - Downing
Ashley - Gabby
Is that where we are now?
Christ, how piss-weak is that?
-
How about start Pires?
Young is a good player, but he winds me up so much with his diving and being ball greedy and wasteful.
And you're expecting Pires not to dive?! Have you not seen him play before? ;D
-
Fucking hell: Have we got 11 fit players?
from www.bbc.co.uk/football
Aston Villa
Doubtful: Agbonlahor (groin), Clark and Collins (both calf), Dunne (knee), Ireland (flu)
Injured: Beye & Weimann (both ankle), Carew & Cuellar (both calf), Delph, Heskey, Petrov & Reo-Coker (all knee), Sidwell (Achilles)
-
ridiculous, these injuries.
-
I think gabby, Marc and dunne are ok. So I expect Clark to come in for Hogg, or for Collins if not fit. Otherwise unchanged. Whether Collins is fit will be crucial for both defence and midfield.
-

1-1
Is it wise to admit that??! If you're not at work on Monday I'm open to bribes to keep quiet!
-
So have I got this right...
Ireland missed last Satuday's game with Flu, was then spotted out on the tiles in Manchester last Saturday night, and is now doubtful for Sunday with Flu..?!?
-
I've only just realised this is sunday at 1.30, who's fucking stupid idea was that? Nobody wants to watch Blackburn on tv at the best of times, especially not a sunday dinner time, I thought one of the plus points about going out of Europe early was that we'd get more saturday 3pm kick offs, what a stupid, stupid day and time to kick off
-

What he said.

pretty much, yes.
-
I don't think Blackburn are a terribly good team but they are capable of lobbing a spanner in the works when we're trying to get a positive run going. I can't see us losing but now they've had this little confidence boost of the takeover I expect this to be more difficult than it ought to be.
-
I don't see the takeover meaning anything at all to be honest. For whatever reason, we do well against this lot, and despite the late collapse last weekend, we will have taken a lot of positives from that display. This team is only going to get better, and with the addition of Pires providing some creativity from the bench I can see us edging this one 2-0. Goals from Gabby and Ash.
-
Where are these stories about Ireland being out in Manchester?
-
Where are these stories about Ireland being out in Manchester?
Newspapers reported Ash Young witnessed a scuffle in a bar last weekend there while drinking with Stevo and Emule.
-
I hope the extra days rest means Dunne, Albrighton and Collins are fit to start, as they are essential if we want a result there.
-
A Villa win, 0:1, Wee Barry getting his reward.
-
Are tickets available on the day tomorrow and if so how many are left?
-
Really looking forward to see how we play tomorrow, hopefully the performance and not the result of the United game will act as a launch pad for the next few games.
Also quite interested to see how/if Pires will play.
-
The referee will be Michael Oliver (Northumberland), who has stolen Stuart Attwell's crown as the youngest Premier League referee.
It his his first Villa game this season, and he is also yet to referee Blackburn. It won't be the first Sky has seen of him, following WBA v Blackpool and Reading v Norwich last week - 3 reds have been shown in those two games, with 2 being rescinded afterwards.
The assistants are McDonough (yellow flag) and Halliday (chequered) with Chris Foy as 4th man.
-
I suspect it will be the same old scenario. At KO we will find out that yet another first teamer is injured. Pires will play but out of position and clearly unfit, we will score early on (involving youngsters) and they will equalise in the last 5 mins.
Might as well get used to it until at least January.

Mr Optimism 2010 :)
I agree that it does seem our script at the moment.
-
1-2
Gabby and A Young
-
Given our injuries, I'm going for a draw, 1-1.
-
Two zip to us. Wee Barry and Downing
-
Hoping to see the same type of performance as last week... just hopefully ending up with 3 points this time!
-
all it take is another couple of fkucs ups by Dunne
-
If we attack as we did in the second half against Man United then I think we'll get a positive result. I think with Gabby leading the line and our widemen in the form they are, that we've got more pace and width than most can handle.
I can understand the concerns some might have about Blackeyeburns physical approach, but hopefully we'll be able to spend more time on the ball than not.
-
Think much will depend if Collins plays. I think we may not be able to handle the physicality without him. Would def prefer Clark to Hogg in midfield
-
we need to start converting good performances into wins. Hard to believe we only got two points from Fulham and United. I think Dunne and Collins are tailormade for the likes of Jason Roberts. Clark would also bring some much needed height into defending their multiple set plays.
-
We've put together a run of decent performances without getting the results we should have.
We are be due a below-par performance but -if there is any justice- a late winner or equalizer in our favour.
Have a feeling it will be 2-0 to Big Sam's lot however.
-
Tight, but we'll win 2-1. Gabby and Albrighton.
First of a nice run of "home" games for me, i.e. closer than Villa Park.
-
Due to stupid kick off times and my son`s committment to junior football we are missing our favourite away day - So frustrating he is playing down the road at Ormskirk today.
I am going for a 2-1 win with Ashley scoring one of them.
As to VCTM - a 3-0 victory over the plastic scousers (he plays for Birkdale, who Jack Rodwell emerged from)
-
Blackburn have only lost 6 home league games under Sam. A draw would be a good result, but we could win if we get at their fullbacks and take our chances, and be really robust in defending direct balls into their forwards. I'm a bit concerned that with them playing Dunn and pedersen centrally, our youngsters could struggle to keep track of those runs.
-
Just arrived in Blackburn. Meeting some people for a prawn sandwich before the match. Can't see any other result than a win for us. More on match thread later.
-
Leaving in half an hour or so. The joy of a Villa game just a quick jaunt over t'moors.
-
3 0 Pires hat trick. right foot. Left foot and one with his hair
-
I feel fairly confident about this one today assuming our defence is composed in the last few minutes . 2-1 Villa.
-
Agree with earlier post, we need to start converting performances into wins. Come on Villa.
-
If by some chance we don't win, could the more hysterical members of the Miserabilist Tendency please stay away from the post-match thread? Thank you.
-

I'd include draw in that too :)
-
Just arrived at Ewood park. Seated for a prawn sandwich before the match. Can't see anything other a win for us. Villa fans getting into the ground to my right.
-
Excited?
-
freidel; young, Clark, dunne, warnock; ireland, Hogg, bannan, Downing; young, agbonlahor
-
No Albrighton at all

Time for Ireland to step up. If he's going to have any future under Houllier he needs to take these chances.
-
Ireland does need to perform today, is Albrighton injured?
-
He pulled out of the England U21 game so I presume he hasnt recovered
-
We are fucked with out Collins,
We lost 6 nil to a physical Newcastle team with this tram bar Gabby.
-
Albrighton's 'ill'.
-
Another interesting selection. No Collins and no Albrighton. Injuries again?
-
Ireland is very fortunate to be selected in my opinion. Last weeks bout of flu has been called into question by certain sections of the media as well.
I hope we don't end up playing with 10 men.

If he couldn't get in the team when we have four midfielders and two forwards out injured then he might as well pack his bags. This is his chance, it's not ideal opposition for him in many ways but he has to go out their with a point to prove and his Superman pants on.
I was rather hoping he hadn't unpacked them. Lets hope he proves me wrong.
-
Ireland looks tired warming up! Not so confident now without Collins.
-
Pires doing lot of short passing on the pitch all kitted out
