Title: Villa - top of the league (kind of)
Post by: Mr Diggles on November 15, 2010, 09:36:45 AM
Our thanks go to Sidwell, Clark, Delph and a typically motivational effort from the captain, Petrov, for this.

Makes for uncumfortable reading seeing those players injured for us.

No Ireland.  Why did he miss Sat then?

In a 3-4-3:-

      Beye - Cuellar - Clark
NRC - Petrov - Sidwell - Delph
  Weimann - Carew - Heskey

Not a bad side.  Does need a keeper though.

I see GH has just confirmed that Dunne is playing through a knee problem as well. They are apparently swelling up a la McGrath.

Just something that struck me there...and shoot me down if I am wrong. Does our new, more intense training programme have anything to do with our injury list? Is this a side effect?

Looking at some of the talented players in that injury list it's a credit to the rest of the squad that have come in and played this season.

Bad news that Ciaran Clark and Richard Dunne are going to be sidelined following the Manchester United draw and they will now miss the Republic of Ireland match against Norway according to this International football article (http://betting.betfred.com/713/sport-betting-news/football-betting/trappatoni-hit-by-late-injuries/).

It's going to be difficult to pick up many points in Villa's next few games as they face Blackburn (away), Arsenal (home) and Liverpool (away).

We could do with having Cuellar or Clark back for the Blackburn game.

Could we recall Davies from Leicester if we need a centre back?

I actually fancy our chances at Blackburn the way we are playing.

If he's chomping away on a set menus at Edmund's and the like then it's more than likely gout.

I hope not. Bannan would make a better centre back that Davies!

I thought Davies was due back this week, I believed it to be a 1 month loan only.  Guess he will start on Sun if Dunne doesn't make it.

Not too worried, we must have some more kids knocking about somewhere to come in for Dunne?

I'd hazard a guess that only the soft tissue injuries (the calves of Clark, Carew and Cuellar) could be linked to training intensity, the rest seem to be ligament damage which is impact related generally.

And Nathan Baker.
