Take That are playing Villa Park on their new tour in June 2011. Just announced. First gig since The Boss?
-
Quick - put a drip tray under me.
-
Pity the cleaners who will have to mop up all the piss.
-
27th June...
NOOOOOOO!! Our beloved Villa Park will be tainted with Camp-Pop!
-
They'll have the place packed solid, especially with Robbie Williams. So good for the club in that respect. I bet the residents will be happy.
-
What damage will this do to our fabulous pitch? I bet the groundsman is delighted.
-
It appears this is one of the only occasions I wouldn't want to see them blown to smithereens!
-
well this is a bit unexpected.
-
I can imagine Percy selling H&V to all the screaming little girlies.
-
Oh FFS, the Mrs is already getting well excited about this!
Maybe I'll be dropping her off at the Edward instead of the other way around!

Go with her, you know you want too.

Rod Stewart played in the mid nineties didn't he?
-
Feck me of all the bands they could of had at Villa Park they had to have take that no no no screaming girls going mad.
-
I worked during both Duran Duran and Rod Stewart and although a big fan of neither the ladeeeze that turned up was a sight for sore eyes.
I remember being at a show at the NEC last time Take That were on and as i was leaving the array of foxes that turned up was brilliant - closely followed by their pussy whipped fellas - ha ha
I for one will be looking forward to it (although i will wear ear plugs)
-
Rod was the last gig. '95 I think. The Doug had been built but the lower tier was missing.
Big nose put his foot in it by claiming the residents should fly to Paris for the day if the noise upset them, prompting a Galic style party held on the edge of the park by a few of the disgruntled neighbours.
I've seen Rod a few times, but despite being sat in the North Stand at Villa Park I can't remember anything remarkable about it.
I shall give Tek That a miss. Old fatty can knock out a decent pop song, but Robbie is just acting like a parasite 'cos his own solo career has gone tits up. They were inducted into the "Q" magazine hall of fame last night at the annual awards, which served as a timely reminder why I stopped buying the rag a few years ago.
-
Even if its not your cup of tea, and its certainly not mine (except Patience, which was a cracking single), it would be a bit harsh to deny they are a very good pop band and, unlike Westlife and Girls aloud, actually write their own music. Whatever you think of Robbie Williams, again you cant deny a talent exists if you can sing live to 200k plus at Knebworth.

Yeah but be plenty of fanny about :)

I am sure Barry White banged out a few deep voiced love songs back in the 70's....or did I dream it.

Indeed.
Local residents were none too happy with the Wlarus of love and they rang the bells at Aston Church throughout the concert in protest.
-
So the new stand won't be starting this summer then.
-
Cheapest ticket £55! Christ on a bike!
-
Will DC5 be doing a "guess the crowd?"

Probably Phil, but it's not including the £4 to get into the Holte Suite.

Who cares if they write their own music? Frank Sinatra was pretty good.
Johnny Cash didn't write any of the songs on his last half a dozen albums and was more popular doing that than he'd been in thirty years.

With a programme, yes. £3 without.

Not a bad idea.

From a can of Tennent's Super?

Alternatively, I can think over 200k idiots paid silly money to watch a glorified cruise ship turn.
-
Do I not like take that.
-
I had a cracking day at Duran duran and Robert Palmer gig in 83 I think it was ... Loads of fanny.... I wonder how much the club get paid?
-
Just looked at the Take That tour schedule (forgive me), it's all football stadia:
Among others are Bayern's stadium, Hamburg's stadium, San Siro, Amsterdam ArenA, Wembley, Hampden Park, Millennium Stadium, City of Manchester x4, Stadium of Light.

I seen a lot of shit played at Villa Park in the mid 80's. Fortunately I missed out on this though.
-
I don't know how true it is but Robbie will be doing some of his solo stuff at these gigs, not sure if that means we will hear "Open Road" from the fat one or "Clementine" by the little one or even hear the one with the chin that could get pickles out of a jar spin some records.
Probably not, which would then confirm that my suspicion from earlier in the thread about Robbie using Take That to prop up his ailing solo career.
"Ladeez an genelmen, please give a big hand for The Robbie Wiliiams Band."

Why have there been no gigs at VP in a decade and a half?
-
Why have there been no gigs at VP in a decade and a half?
Most of the bands that play stadiums play somewhere bigger like Wembley, Hamden, Cardiff and Milton Keynes (not a stadium but you get my point) for a night or two. Very rarely do you see a stadium tour of the UK.
Looking at Take That's schedule, I'm amazed they will actually sell out all of those dates....all close together in geography and timeline.
-
They now have 2 dates at VP. 27th and 28th June.
-
The Who?
-
In-Bread.
Which is why they're having a concert featuring The Osmonds, Sister Sledge, The Pointer Sisters and other groups featuring those who are inter-related.
They were going to have The Carpenters, but Karen couldn't stomach it...
-
Why have there been no gigs at VP in a decade and a half?
Gigs tend to be at the new identi-bowl grounds with lots of parking and motorway access.
-
I wonder if the Police (that the West Midlands force not Sting and Co.) will be bother turning up. Or will Take That fans be left afterwards in utter bloody chaos with no traffic control away from the ground.
