Rumours on teeside strachan has been sacked- statement due today from the club - looks like mowbrays on his way back to boro!
Just goes to show you don't have to be a great manager to win things at Celtic- strachan took Coventry down and was sacked , and has been a huge flop at boro despite spending more than most.

Strachan set to be sacked by Middlesbrough after sorry slump at the Riverside

Middlesbrough are close to axing Gordon Strachan after a poor start to the season.
They stand in lowly 20th position in the Championship in their desperate bid to return to the Barclays Premier League.
Should they turn to a new manager, former Boro defender Tony Mowbray will head the list of potential replacements.
A year after sacking Gareth Southgate to bring in the former Celtic boss, Boro chairman Steve Gibson has faced increasing calls to do the same to Strachan.
With attendances already falling to around 15,000, which is half their Premier League average, thousands of supporters chanted for Strachan's head during Saturday's 2-1 defeat at home to Leeds.
So far, and after funding Strachan's summer spending so he could continue dismantling the squad he inherited from Southgate, Gibson has indicated he will stand by the Scot.
But the Teesside club travel to high-flying Nottingham Forest and Norwich City this week after club finances revealed last week the desperate importance of promotion this season.
With loyal fans turning their back on Gibson and the club, the Boro chief is facing a major crisis, and Strachan's highly-paid flops, ranked pre-season Championship favourites, are not helping his cause.

Looks the ideal job for MON. Good set up, chairman, decent sized club and support. Tough job but the kind of thing he'd be good at.
-
Will be interesting to see where O'Neill ends up. Can't think of too many places where he will get more money to spend than at Villa, the ungrateful xenophobe. I reckon if Hodgson goes Liverpool will appoint Dalglish. Maybe O'Neill could succeed him when he walks out.
-
Gary Mac got out at the time then.
-
Kevin MacDonald?
-
Now confirmed on Beeb and SSN. Is that chap O'Leary still out of work?
-
My pals up there say it was firm at about 4 o'clock. Mowbray, nailed on. Local hero.
-
It'll be Tony "Laughing Boy" Mowbray.
His soul brother Mark Kelly will be delighted to see him back in work.

Always seen Boro as a pretty mediocre club TBH, probably one step up from a Wigan or such like. Some big name players in the past; Mannion, Clough and more recently a brief (and slightly surreal) flirtation with World/ Euro superstars such as Ravanelli, Juninho and co. But one domestic trophy in 100+ years.
Some of the gates they used to get even in the Premiership were embarrassing. Agree Gibson seems to be a good chairman but the whole package up there just seems a bit drab.
Perfect for Mowbray then.
-
Boro are gash and always will be.
-
MON has now a suitable club to manage if he is brave enough!
-
the new manager(whoever it is) will be in an interesting situation-
the team is now stocked with newly signed ex-SPL players, but 'boro have a good record of bringing youth players thru their system.
Will tony Mowbray want to reunite with these explayers?
-
I must admit it did'nt surprise me that he has been sacked boro are poor.
-
They should have given Southgate longer. I know he took them down, but they were 3rd when they sacked him.
Mowbray might do well for them in the short term, then they'll realise over time what a piss poor manager he is.
-
Does Mowbray just follow Strachan about?

Chris, just because it's not prog-rock, doesn't mean it soul.
I see your man has been turned down for the Leicester and Boro jobs now. I hear the Wales job could be up for grabs. Fingers crossed.

True, they remind me of the Rags, except they've shown a lot more ambition and success. Still a nothing club, mind.

Ha ha
Personally, I don't like Strachan anyway.
-
Strachan must be the most annoying twat in managment [untill now]
he thinks he's funny in a poor mans holloway sort of way, but unlike holloway he has no humour,
his sarky remarks are childish, he can be nasty and probably has some self esteem issues, as he is constantly on the defensive.
he was a cracking player though
-
that yoghurt must have finally got to its best before date
-
Boro are gash and always will be.
They were pretty good on 2nd May, 1981.
-
Mowbray will get the gig.
-
Does this mean we will have another incomprehensible person commenting on MOTD this Saturday?
-
As admirable as their chairman seems to be (I thought Tom Hanks was one of us?), he looks a bit of a prat now for sacking Southgate.
-
I quite like Strachan, have done ever since he took Coventry back to their rightful place. Given his managerial record, I doubt many clubs will be banging on his door.
-
I hope Strachan gets another job, I like some of his quotes...
Reporter - "Gordon can we have a quick word?"
Strachan - "Velocity" (walks off)
Reporter - "So, Gordon, in what areas do you think Middlesbrough were better than you today?"
Strachan - "What areas? Mainly that big green one out there..."
plus an enemy of Ferguson is alright by me.
-
i gave Strachan a right slagging in few posts above this one,
but i have since read and heard that he tore up us contract and said he hadnt delivered, and went without a penny compensation.
now if thats true, he has gone up considerably in my view, can you imagine O'leary ever doing that ?
so good on you Gordon, you aint so bad after all
-
Ravanelli, Juninho and co.
By 'co.' do you mean gate, ugo and boeteng?

Isn't that what you do when you quit anyway?

You missed out Neil Cox.
