Strong reserves line-up tonight against Wolves - Cuellar, Sidwell, Guzan, Lichaj, Bannan and Delfouneso all start. Villa Park, KO 7pm.
Looks like Ged wants some of the first team fringe players to get some action!
-
Who the fuck is Ged?
-
Come on villa let's beat the dingles reserves.

-

VILLA: Guzan; Berry, Cuellar, Lowry, Lichaj; Hogg, Sidwell, Salifou, Bannan; Delfouneso, Burke.
Subs: Deeney, Parish, Cameron, Williams, Carruthers, Halfhuid, Johnson.
Has Cueller done something wrong? Motm to the reserves?
-
1-1 at the moment, we've just equalised. Burke converted a Sidwell cross. Guzan slipped for their goal.
-
2-1, Fonz.
-
Fantastic run from Courtney Cameron down the right. He squared to Delfouneso. The ball broke free for Hogg, who rounded the keeper and played back to Delfouneso to hammer home.
-
3-1...
Dan AVFC: Delfouneso again. He jinks his way inside from the left wing, and rifles a left-foot shot into the top corner.
-
3-2.
Getting lonely on this thread. Now I know how King Jong-Il feels.
-
I'm following.
-
Full-time. 3-2 to the Villa.
-
Always good to beat the Dingles.
-
Good stuff Fonzy.
-
Not the greatest of reserve matches in recent years- it took
KMac's lads an hour to find away through the Wolves rearguard
and the floodgates opened although there was a slight scare when
the Dingles scored a second in injury time -
Game was very watchable after young Burke levelled the score on 60
and Fonze got 2 in 2 according to my watch -
Weird set up and tactics by KMac-
Sidwell/Salifou/Hogg in across middle with fuillbacks giving us width
and wee Barry linking with front two of Burke/Fonze ...........didn't work
but when Bannan drifted wide left the goals went in

Aston Villa reserves beat Wolves reserves thanks to Nathan Delfouneso
Oct 19 2010 by David Whinyates, Birmingham Mail
TWO smart goals from Nathan Delfouneso and a sparkling midfield performance from Barry Bannan turned things in Villa’s favour after Wolves had been the better of two strong sides during the first half.
With Graham Burke also finding the net Villa scored three times in a 14 minute second half spell.
Although George Elokobi added his second goal in a late Wolves rally the home side just edged this keenly contested derby at Villa Park.
It was the visitors who settled more quickly, with Nenad Milijas controlling midfield and in the 13th minute a header by Steven Mouyokolo was deflected wide.
Two minutes later a Milijas corner caused further mayhem in the Villa box and, as Brad Guzan slipped, Elokobi rose unchallenged to head the opening goal.
Moustapha Salifou forced a low one-handed save from Wayne Hennessey in the 24th minute and Bannan, looking lively, saw a good long range shot go close before setting up a great chance for Carlos Cueller from a 39th minute corner, only for the Spanish defender to head straight at Hennessey.
Bannan really began to display his skill early in the second half, but it was fellow midfielder Steve Sidwell who set up a 58th minute equaliser for Burke.
It was becoming a real battle as Sylvan Ebanks-Blake headed over from a 61st minute cross by Elokobi.
Then Villa’s American full-back Eric Lichaj created a chance for Sidwell, but the alert Hennessey brilliantly saved at close range.
Villa took the lead after 70 minutes when good build up by substitute Courtney Cameron and Jonathan Hogg enabled Delfouneso to score from close range.
Two minutes later Sidwell’s pass sent Delfouneso speeding down the left to beat Hennessey with an angled shot.
In added time Elokobi gave Wolves a spark of hope, heading his second goal after Danny Batth had an effort cleared off the line.
Wolves’ consolation was that Stephen Hunt and Mouyokolo both got in some useful playing time as they recover from injury.
VILLA (4-4-2): Guzan; Berry (Williams 86), Cueller, Lowry, Lichaj; Sidwell, Hogg, Salifou, Bannan (Johnson 78); Delfouneso, Burke (Cameron 65). Subs: Parish, Carruthers.
WOLVES (4-4-2): Hennessey; Ebanks-Landell, Batth, Mouyokolo, Elokobi; Mujangi (Rooney 84), Van Damme (Winnall 84), Milijas, Hunt (Hemmings 71); Ebanks-Blake, Bent. Subs: McCarey, Malone.
