Hesk, L. Young and Albrighton are out.

Carew, Beye and Ireland to start.

I'm now even less confident than I was...

No Albrighton means one of Young or Downing playing right wing - something they both look uncomfortable with.  Shame.  Be good to see Ireland play off Carew mind.

Beye? Fook, turn up for the books. Let's hope he plays better than his nightmare against Wien Rapid.

Full teams anyone?

Title: Re: Aston Villa v Chelsea Match Thread

Cuellar on bench again.  We're due a decent Dunne performance today and I have a feeling he'll score from a corner - this seems to be something we've forgotten how to do.

Interesting to see beye get the call ahead of cuellar but nice to see players in their natural position I guess- let's hope Carew has one of his good days !

I'm not confident in Beye and Carew, but hopefully they'll both have "on" games.

As for Chelsea, that's the worst side I've seen them put out in years, so fingers crossed we pull something out the bag.

This is a big game for Ireland, his first in his preferred position.

Good team selection by Mr Houllier considering we've got 4 players missing due to illness and injury... I personally would of had Cuellar instead of Dunne (I think the Collins/Cuellar partnership works really well).

Come on Villa!

John Carew is really playing poorly. He looks where the ball goes, and if it doesn't reach him, he doesn't try for the second ball, but just stands still ball watching.

Who can we put on? Weimann? On the bench?

There's nobody up front that can stretch the defenders and thus open gaps in the middle of the pitch for the likes of Ireland to benefit from. Carew is never going to do that, so Gabby is a huge loss from that standpoint. It's all too congested and Chelsea are very good at closing gaps. The other thing is our wide players aren't getting the ball fast enough and when they do the delivery has been sub par.

Looks like Delfouneso is coming on. Good idea, in my opinion. Carew has been really poor again, I think. For whatever reason, he looks a spent force these days. A shame.

Since Laursen left, we've been so poor from corners, not that the ball ever gets in the danger area anymore.. Time to take Ashley off corner duty.

0-0 it ends. No complaints from me. On another day we might have won that, but they'd say the same.
