Title: Is Carew cactus?
Post by: ROBBO on September 28, 2010, 02:05:00 AM
In all the posts of Villa formations over the last few days not once have I seen Carews name mentioned.
Emiles performances seems to have elevated him over and above the player that most preferred up front.
Has his history with Houllier caught up with him? will he be with us after January?

Cactus? I think his prickly relationship in the past with Houllier could come back to bite him on the arse, or sting it, like a cactus.

I think he's been deserted.

He wasn't in good form when Gezza arrived, which is bad timing for him given their past dealings.

I think he'll last the season and go in the summer.

I dont think history as caught up with him it's just that heskey as played well when he has come on but i think carew must have an injury.

MacDonald said a couple of weeks ago that Carew has an injury than needs managing and means that he can't play twice a week.

He's not looked that great sp far this season. I could see him being sold in January.

He would have been my first choice for the past few seasons and it frustrated me to see Emile start ahead of him. Now it's a clean slate for everyone and Emile has been banging them in. Carew will just have to fight for his place and play his way back into contention. If he's not prepared to do so, he will probably be sold. In fairness, we got a pretty damn good return on our investment there.

I suppose it's encouraging to see us have a winning start under Houllier with Dunne, Carew, Gabby and Ireland not in the side.  Maybe we actually have a better squad thna we thought??

Some of us were critical of the previous manager's failure to rotate the squad properly...it's nice to be proven right!

I'm not sure how much of it is down to rotation and how much is due to injuries/niggles, but I take the point.

He's scoring goals for fun in Turkey.  Let him stay there.

Carew will be fine, He's carrying an injury. (again) I do like the guy he'll fight his way back and its a long season. I don't expect him to leave this season at all!

His wages are too high for him to go anywhere (especially since Hull have now been relegated).

He'll be a more than useful player to have coming off the bench

Provided he stays motivated.

I think if Emile takes a tumble we'd see him coming off the bench.

He has been one of the top goalscorers in the premier league in the time he has been at Villa. I expect he will have an important part to play this season.

He will be back. Loving what Heskey is doing at the moment but because of his physical game. He will pick up injuries ..........

He's got to be on tip top form upon his return to convince GH that he doesn't need another striker in the summer, the chances though are slim...
