I know its only Coventry but this was probably my favourite game i went too. We relegated em that day and did it in style. Paul Mersons screamer is still in my mind and if i remember rightly was a cracking atmosphere! Anyone else remember this? Anyone else enjoy it as much as me?

It was a great game- we gave them a two goal start and still beat them! Merson was on fire that day. Also my missus was a week overdue and the lads we were with were terrified the excitement would send her into labour! I think the mighty sky blues would have gone down anyway because of results elsewhere but it was nice to nail the coffin lid down at Villa Park. Revenge for Mick Quinn ruining my boxing day in '92!

Yep, Good day all round. Coventry routed on the pitch and off as well if I remember correctly, ( Not that I am in anyway condoning hooliganism but I do remember dire warnings of what the Coventry boys were going to do to us all ). It was one of those days where, although it didnt start well, once we got a goal it was only going to end one way. I remember seeing a Felcher on motd later on holding up a sign saying 'We'll be back'. He's probably dead by now
-
I always thought that the bloke with the "we,ll be back" banner was Jon Gaunt!!
-
I used to have a recording of the MOTD highlights of this game but seem to have lost it.

Great day made better by the fact I went to the Player of the Year awards after when they let rank and file fans go. I shook Angel's hand. Brilliant !!!

I was at uni when we played this game and I remember listening to the updates from Five Live and going bloody mental. When all my housemates asked me why I was jumping up and down, they were astonished to find that we'd only beaten Coventry and not someone good. I told them they wouldn't understand why it was such a great thing to do.

I was in the Holte for this one and remember being almost directly in line with Merson when he looked up and I thought to myself 'he's not going to try and chip it is he?' Beautiful goal.
I also remember seeing Hadji and thinking he was some player.
-
It wasn't so much of a chip, more of a curler into the top corner, I seem to remember?
-
I seem to remember after Angels equaliser loads of people ran onto the pitch, Kirkland clutching at air to try to get a hand to Mersons winner was fantastic
